My uncle was a NYC subway motorman for quite a few years. He had at least one person jump in front of his train and get killed (I can't remember whether he said it was more than once). Definitely shook him up pretty badly. Back in his day (60s-80s), all they did was just give him the rest of the day off. Now I hope they have more resources to help a motorman who has to experience this.
My prayers go out to the person’s family, the driver, and the firefighters that had to handle this situation. These are the ones that leave the darkest shadows. ❤
Prayers to the family of the victim, and i hope they r.i.p. Thank you Skylar, for the always superb filming of the best ffs on earth❤ i told JJ this already, but i am so thankful for everything you and JJ do. Not only do i get to see my HEROES at work everyday, but i get a taste of New York, which i really yearn to visit next year..
Was riding the F out of what is now Metrotech, and just after my car entered the tunnel we went into emergency braking. Turned out someone decided to subway surf and slipped off the train. You verses train, you lose.
My sincerest condolences to the family and friends of the poor soul who fell to their death. My wholehearted respect and gratitude is extended to the FDNY, Paramedics and the MTA NYCTA train Operators and Conductors that endure their tough duties. HAIL to these heroes who transport us and who save us each and every day!
Sad outcome. May the deceased rest in peace 🙏 I had opportunities to be a Train Operator both for the MTA and in Miami, and in hindsight I'm glad those didn't pan out because of incidents like this. My thoughts are with the T/O as well in this traumatic situation 🙏 even in my current line of work on the maintenance side I've seen trackside fatalities and it's always tough to see.
When was this? I remember last night being on the scanner and heard something going on in the metro, granted i was in the city wide signal. Also heard the call about the teen setting fore to a lobby in Manhattan? But honestly may his soul find peace.
Not the best side to the job, but your video was a good close up other than being on the track, well done great job, but with 2 weeks to go to the big day, there are others suffering one wy or the other, unfortunately this guy will not be the only one and thoughts are with his family and also the driver at this time, stay safe mate
I'm ignorant on this and wondering - Does all of FDNY know you? It's a big city, or are you always with the same group of FDNY? It seems like everyone knows you, or is that just the New York way?
How are you able to access scenes like that ? Where im from we shutdown non fire scenes to only first responders especially if there is a death. Not trying to sound negative in the slightest. Im just genuinely curious.
It's sad but I wonder how often someone falls off the landing onto the tracks. and how often are they hit by a train. correct this ol country man but I think those rails are electrified so I guess you could be electrocuted if you hit the rails also.
There are three rails. Only one is electrified. That one has a cover over the top - you could still reach in and get electrocuted but just falling on top of it would not do it. Some people fall onto the tracks accidentally or get pushed - but many times it is a suicide. Almost every motorman has this happen at least once in his career.
Radio traffic was interesting. "is it a mortal injury" as apposed to an immortal injury?? "Abdomen is crushed" "So no obvious sign of injury". Really??
Mortal = death so a mortal injury is a fatal one. As for your obvious sign comment, the chief was wanting to know if there were obvious signs of a mortal injury (i.e. decapitation, evisceration, etc). Had there been obvious signs of death then they would have had to leave the body where it was for the ME. But because they observed no obvious signs of mortal injury they brought him out in an attempt to save him. Crush injuries aren't automatically fatal injuries. Hope this helps clear it up.
@@btcbob11392 I have seen plenty. You have the wrong channel if that’s what you are looking for. I am not the NY Post, this is not a press page. This is documenting the best fire department in the world.

Accidential? Suicide?
Unknown
Did he die?
Yup, fatal
Sadly yes
Yuck. Sad.
Sadly

How would immortal be used in context?
Mortal = death so a mortal injury is a fatal one. No obvious sign of death.
Video shows nothing but a bunch of fireman walking around
So you want to see a body cut in half? Mentally something wrong with you then.
@@SkylerFire Guess you weren't around in the 1960's when the NY Post use to post those photos on the front page of the newspaper.😀
As a retired Ff in the UK, you do not want to see or smell a dead body that has been hit or gone under a train.
