The issue with the Depp Wonka is that he seems to be playing a younger version, which doesn't make sense in terms of someone who wants to pass the torch on, Wilder fits that mold much better, especially with the added scenes from the end of the Wilder movie, but I might be biased in that sense since I grew up on the Wilder version.
I can definitely see where you're coming from. For me personally, I didn't really see it that way. I felt that Depp's portrayal was still "old enough" to consider passing on his factory, and I thought they did a good enough job at showing that when he was at his barber's office, and saw a single grey hair fall out. He started having a midlife crisis, and began sort of panicking over it (albeit, maybe overreacting). I also didn't really think of it as him just immediately lending the factory to a young child. I felt that Wonka would still be in the business for quite some time, he just wanted to have an heir already set in place BEFORE it got time for him to retire/kick the bucket/whatever. There is also the fact, that a lot of "older" celebrities tend to make themselves look younger, which, if you wanted to, you could believe that's why Wonka looked younger than he should have. Maybe he had a lot of work done to look that way. Dunno, just kind of a funny thought though lol. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, and I appreciate you sharing yours! 😁
