    How about in the case of firewalls, where your drilling a hole in one side of the drywall to drop cables down to a cut in, that you would then cover with jacks and a faceplate, does the hole up above the ceiling need to be firestopped, even though it does not penetrate both sides of the drywall..??

      If it is a fire rated assembly then yes it has to be restored to its original rating. Some walls are not fire rated assemblies.

      @@LetsTalkCabling I've always just treated any interior wall, where the drywall is finished all the way up to the roof or floor above, as a fire wall, though I guess in some cases it could be done for sound as well, like around conference rooms.
      Also, does not sound like your a fan of caulk, I agree 100%, putty is WAY better, easier to work with, less messy and just looks better aesthetically. So many small cabling companies are cheap though and will only buy the caulk.

      @@Eric-qx1kx I agree! Also when in doubt be safe and treat it like a fire rated barrier! Its ok to make it safer right?
