- The BRAND NEW Freewing twin 64mm F-14 Tomcat has gotten a lot of attention, and for good reason. They took the popular twin 80mm version and scaled it down into a perfect model. Tom Hunt set his up for FPV and the first impressions LOS & FPV is that it is true an amazing RC Airplane.
BIG THANKS TO TOM HUNT!!! Check out his TH-cam for some FPV videos.

Needs to get that artificial horizon working! 💥
Tom makes this FPV flying look so easy. Its genuinely amazing 🙌
Glad to see that F-14 has the correct livery. Never been able to fathom how any RC hobbyist would want anything OTHER than the Jolly Rogers scheme.
“Mutha”
I will allow myself to disagree. I far prefer the final livery, which was the stealth matt grey with black writing and decals. That to me looked much more "sinister". That was what I used on my Flight Sim Tomcat.
Not to forget the VF-111 Sundowners :) wooow ;)
@@Luffelas Sundowners are indeed a strong second
Grim reapers
Talk to me Goose.
Honk honk honk
HUH
Come on man, do some of that pilot sh!t
Talk to me dad.
Don’t think, just do
Didn't hear him call the ball. Great flying, tremendous listening to a pilot go through the envelope of his new airframe.
Nose on the horizon and "TomCat Ball"!
My inner child is going nuts watching this footage!
I love seeing these but would not want one even if I had the money.. I flew giant RC years ago and I would defile that air craft.. I'd never risk flying it myself.
As someone who was stationed on an Aircraft Carrier...me thinks I might have to buy one and set it up like this! I always dreamt of flying an F-14 Tomcat, watching them taking off, bringing up the ordnance for them, and watching them land will always be some of my favorite memories of my time in the NAVY!!!
Yeah shipmate I was topside on the Carl Vinson V2 back in the 80s watching the A7 corsairs, the S3 Vikings, prowlers, Intruders and the course the tomcat. what a dream come true.
@@SSO1025RET I always loved the Intruders and Prowlers, the names, and their aggressive look! Some of my favorite models to build growing up.
I dont know if this works on RC canopies, but in scale models of fighter planes you can use Future Floor Wax or some other equivalents or polishing compounds to get canopy crystal clear. Would be cool if it makes enough of a difference to clear up the the thru canopy view for the FPV camera.
Is this the Tom Hunt that built several rc VTOL aircraft back in the early 90s ? If so ...I practically worshipped him , and his aircraft..❤ the vertigo was a incredible aircraft... but he had other's 😢 😢❤...
I think that was Mike Hunt
Tom is a really good pilot!
Honestly I really like it a lot.
What Tom did to his B-17 is inspiring.
The FPV barrel roll👍👍
Engineering is improving on an already Amazing Product 👏 👏 👏
That’s so cool! Now I need FPV goggles 😂
Huh? Can’t see shit except from the ground. Lame
amazing!!! thank you for this video
That's just so badass...
imagine THIS built into Tyler Perry's 21 feet bomber.......with plenty of room for working altitud, horizon, flaps etc gauges to look at....
Unreal indeed Phil in sydney,Australia wow he can fly very much so wish i could looks the part so much.
You were in a 4G inverted dive with a MiG 28?
Tom is a legend!
Now put maverick and goose in.
Thanks for taking us along
Amazing model. Made one back in the early 80’s. Interesting comments about being so close to the Grumman production facilities. Did you work there? I loved the comparison to the Warthog A10 being winey compared to the F14 whoosh. My step-dad was called Tom. He bought me a model boat and took me to the town park every Sunday morning to sail it until I lost interest. I would have loved a RC plane. I asked my Mum but it was too expensive. I made a Flying Boat and a Spitfire but like all novelties I moved on to explore the world around me.
Very cool. I'm currently setting up and AR Wing Pro with a SpeedyBee FC and DJI Goggles 2 and O3Air. Can't wait to get her in the air.
That’s awesome.although I wish the rest of the canopy wasn’t blurry
I have been waiting for this for years! Awesome.
Tom's fpv videos are legendary.
I never new Tom was an aerospace engineer! Thats what I want to be!
That is awesome !!! Love the vids!
Like this comment for everyone to get free f-14s 🤬😂
I love the f 14 and the maverick joke in the beginning was great
😂😂
love this new f-14 and am considering picking it up myself
Awesome
Great flying. I wouldn’t dare FPV’ing my Freewing Cougar!
I really like that the review mirrors are working, great detail!
How cool would that be if the artificial horizon actually worked. And also, you can see the rearview mirrors are real. Very cool.
Taking out front plastic of the canopy makes it look nice and also gives a clear FPV view. I'm just wondering how draggy it becomes ? Me and buddy talked about this several years ago and concluded (within us) unless there's an exit hole at the back of the canopy, drag increases initially but stops increasing very soon as area is already filled. Any thoughts on this ? BTW, I do same thing with WTFOS and it really opens up what you can see.
Great vide Jay!! Tom did a great job👊🏼👊🏼
can you make a video of naming RC brands for beginners? i don’t know where to start
can someone put a gi joe classified next to this sweet ride? :0
This is so awesome 😮
Nice camera work. It's hard to track a small object smoothly in the air.
That's a nice one and great flyer!
Well that was cool
I would buy one of these here in Australia, if only there was someone in my town who could fly it for me. I'm a lousy pilot and would be too terrified of crashing it.
Too friggin' cool!
“It’s not the plane, it’s the pilot.”
Good jet
Is this flying off of the area off Moriches - Riverhead Road, south of Riverhead on Long Island because it sure looks like it! I live in the region and this looks real familiar. There are also a few Grumman engineers still about.
No flat spins there
Smile to the bird
Makes me want to watch The Final Countdown
Nice job guys this video is awesome!!
Time to buzz the tower!
No HUD is problematic but a good pilot will overcome even that.
Wright that up in the forms. Red X.
This channel is OG flight test peak 2016
That’s a rough field
I love it!!! i want it so badly but its to expensive for me :(
Wow! that is cool! Silly question maybe but is it faster with the wings swept back?
Yes
You should totally try and modify it to add the spoilers that the full scale f14 has
If it’s possible, that’s something Tom will be attempting lol he’s the 🧠
I might have done it on the 80mm version, but the wing is rather small on this one.
They need a paved runway. What state are you guys flying in?
Wow.. I think you might be onto something here.. Combine this with those crazy accurate cockpits.. There could be some crazy looking realistic stuff.
Maybe just take the canopy plastic/glass out, maybe thin down the pillars though they might be accurate your eye wouldn't "see" them as much or the camera makes them more viable..
I really think this could become really interesting.
3rd edit.. The F-14 is just the sexiest aircraft ever.. I just don't think, in my mind, they could ever design a plane that looks so perfect again. I grew up in the 80's with Robotech, GoBots, and Transformers. The F-14 is just chefs kiss and your model looks sexy.
Starscream and F-15 a distant second.
Love it Tom ❤
May I ask, which headtracker are you using? I built one from a, BLE Arduino board, are you using one of those or a Motion Sic board?
Keep these, great videos coming, just LOVE Tomcats!!
Amazing - is there a delay in the video transmission
Looks like it had cadc computer issue with the swing sweep, pilot had to go to manual overide!
All rc flying should be done FPV
I agree
WOW
Don't think
.just doooo...awesome plane👍
4:50 is what you're waiting for.
I thought our field was rough!
How cool would it be if that artificial horizon screen actually would work 🙃
wow
❤it!!!
How does he do the First Person Flight View? does the F14 come with the camera already installed?
No, its a custom head tracking setup.
Was that a Kit or made from scratch cheers.
to be honest I kept thinking there are floating ball levels and floating spherical compasses small enough to mount in the dash of this thing
Tom´s Tomcat xD
What is this plane powered by?
What was that green jet in background? Looks like it had 2 edf units on it.
Freewing ME-262 that was customized and painted. Will be on the channel soon 🔥
Tremblay Ville
Macross’s Roy Focker
Watts? Thrust from each fan? AUW?
They sound like they’re from New york lol
Looks good for grass ops ?
ok i completely forgot the name of this plane but its at 1:05 on the right side of the screen, where did he get it? is it a modified me262 converted into the 1946 version
You my friend win an award! That video is coming soon lol
@@Jays_rcgarage i really hope i see it when it comes out, i love 1946 planes
Get that canopy fixed so its clear on all sides. Only the view through the front looked clear. Through the sides it looked very blurry and cloudy
Side Views were not blurry - why dont you sen him a new canopy since you are are an expert. Sheesh - some people are unable to appreciate such fine work. Typical.
Morton Ramp
Nice flying! MotionSic has an FPV headset like this at my club.
How do we build that first person setup?
What is the brand of that camera?
The fpv landing was smooth
Ba dap bah bum bum
Can you pleas make a tutorial of how he made it
Can you Dog Fight with your AC set up. ??
just add a drill to the camera, then it will look totally real :-)
What's the top speed?
It's not the plane, it's the pilot
Seriously, if a plan is taking off is it called LANDING gearm
I'd want to just keep going....
Rough runway!
