Cannot tell you how much I enjoyed watching this. Although no sound makes really enjoyed more for some reason. Thank you for sharing this. We came here on Jan 19 1969. Our very first parade. Back home had no parade at all. 😟. 🎅🎅🎄🎄 🎁🎁🎀🎀 🎉🎉
2:44 I like that elk or whatever it is. All the costumes and cloths were probably made in the USA back then. Some people had a lot of things in their homes back then just like now.
The parade started at the MacGregor Armories and travel to Salter Street then south over the Salter Street Bridge (Slaw Rebchuk Bridge now) south down Isabel Street and down Portage Avenue to Eaton's Store. Those were wonderful days for us north end kids!
I like that Santa's village at what seems to be the corner of Redwood and Main came complete with a giant Carling's Black Label sign. As I remember, that sign lit up with some very cool neon at night!
I have hundreds of rolls of 8mm film that my dad took in the 50's 60' & 70's; sure wish I knew how to put them on video or upload them to utube. Lots from downtown, north end, Assiniboine Park and Zoo, Gimli and Camp Morton MB, lots of aircraft and Wpg International Airport. Also the Carling O'keefie's winter display, the blizzard, etc. My dad loved his cameras and projectors!
tons of great restaurants and shops on Sherbrook. Wonderful public swimming pool too. And the WECC! And the Adam Beach DAC! Things change, some things get better while others go down.
they sure knew how to make floats back then. now we just string some lights on a vehicle. great costumes too, love some of the politically incorrect stuff. what the hell is that centipede!!!???? thanks for digitizing and posting!
Thanks for sharing this great video. brings back a lot of memories. I had the exact same grey sweater as the boy in the video.
Thanks LOVE my hometown ✍🏻❤💌
Love all the old cars.
Wish I could have experienced life back then.
Growing up back then it really was a different world compared to today. A somewhat safer and very much more innocent time.

Great shots of Winnipeg and great glimpses into the personal life of this family. Reminds me of my family.

I think it's Sherbrook Street.

My Aunt's house was on Sherbrook a few houses from Sargent. We used to sit by the window on the 2nd floor. We had the best view and we were warm!
@jaworskij ... that link goes to a screen capture o the duck float that was on the film you also took from Christmas 1969.
Also cool, I had that metal service station toy depicted at 7:40. I probably got it for Christmas a few years earlier.

That would be great to be able to see. I love stuff about days gone by in Winnipeg. Thanks for the answer about the parade.
I love these videos. What street was the parade on? I'm guesstimating Sherbrook?
Wow, what a time travel. Very interesting.
Its a pity that Sherbrook is such a hole now.

I love your videos, but please stop with the "relic" fx.
