Heyo! Hope you guys enjoyed this Support Science. Let me know what you think! If you're new to my channel, why don't you stick around and hit that subscription button, too? Thanks for watching!
That was actually fantastic. I always appreciated Cordelia as a character, but she wasn't my favorite. I romanced her on my second playthrough to see why she was so popular. Still didn't see why, despite having a good s support. Seeing this made me appreciate her a lot more than I thought I ever would. Great stuff.
Pardon me sir whose next Innes,Lucina,(a four hour video on Corrin would be hilarious especially Conquest) im just kidding he has some good some supports others..eh,or Mist or Jaffar, Franz,Elincia I love your content and opinion sir.
I REALLY wish the localization didn't downplay her startlingly realistic depression symptoms. They really add to her character, and make one of Awakening's most human characters feel even more so.
xig at this point I think we can agree as fellow lovers of virion that the single greatest failing of FE13 was making him bad as a unit so that millions of people failed to see one of the best support sets in franchise history
Virion is pretty excellent, Nate, indeed. Alas, his shortcoming as an unit does hurts him a lot. His future past conversations are pretty much excellent, with Inigo/Virion and Gerome/Virion being particular stands out.
I vote for a support science on Virion. he's always been a really cool foil for a lot of other characters in awakening, and while I hated him at first, I've got this quiet appreciation for him now.
I have to agree. I hated his pompous personality at first, but after trying to max out every support in the game, I found out that Virion is a genuinely good guy, kind of on the same way as Inigo.
Michael Owen Yup. I used to think he was an insufferable twat, but holy shit does he have some serious depth. He's quite intelligent, can read people extremely well, and knows exactly how to convey a lesson in the most effective way. One of my favorite supports in this game is his support with Robin. The way Virion shows Robin exactly how much the Shepards need his tactics is just so heartwarming to me.
@@yourfathersfather8751 Dang really? When I played he was like a must for me since my Virion never left 'just a scratch' on enemies lol. Also omg I really loved his and Frederick's supports- I don't know why I just find it hilarious someone as intense as Frederick has to deal with someone as chill as Virion.
I'll admit, i teared up a bit watching this. Cordelia has always been one of my favorites in awakening, and seeing you do this, especially where the 3ds hate is still running rampant, was amazing to see. A great start with fe13's cast. I'd love to see more awakening support sciences, and hopefully they can shed a new light on people who hate the game, because this roster is something special to me, and I'm certain the passion i have for them is not misplaced.
The hate isn't rampant, what are you talking about? Most think it's a snoozefest, but don't hate it. Right now, any hate is because of it's overexposure, especially with Warriors going on right now.
I used to think that Cordelia was a 2D, Mary Sue like character that was literally perfect but couldn’t say it because “she was humble” or stuff like that. I never really used her that much to dig into stuff like this. After your analysis, the character strikes a chord in me. I wouldn’t call myself perfect, and I won’t say I’m good at everything. I have an awful habit of undermining anything I do and putting others way before me, almost to the point where I deliberately forget about myself. I can see some of myself put into Cordelia (albeit she has a much more extreme traits of this) Thanks for another great support science. I love this series.
Unfortunately, that portrayal of Cordelia does exist. Her name is Caeldori (from Fates) and she lacks the compelling flaws that Cordelia had. The difference is that Caeldori's perfectionism is flanderized.
TimeGear it hit a chord with me to an extent as well. Wanting to do the best that I can and getting fiercely competitive at what I CARE about. My desire to be acknowledged sometimes getting overshadowed by my own self loathing because “I know I can do better” “I could be less lazy”. And deflecting praise, I went through a phase like that myself once. And all I could think of was, it could be better.
I honestly think that Awakening was a huge step forward, not because of their writing, which is as solid as ever, but mostly because they where better presented. Their designs where much more colourful and reflected their personalities better along with the added bonus of voice clips for adde personality. Great video as always btw.
I actually really like Cordelia. I feel like I have a lot of things in common with her. But, I'm not perfect, but rather I have little pity parties on my own, but dont share with others. She's one of my favorite characters and I love her. I love her supports and I'm glad she was my first FE waifu
Theodore Widdicombe, I see where your are coming from. I Cordelia is a perfectionists and strives for the best in Her and others. I am the same way and I think this is why I mike her so much because she is very relatiable. Also, she tries to be humble at times, but gives off the wrong impression. Cordelia, Lucina, and Cherche are my favorite female units from FE:A.
What people don't seem to get about Awakening is that the story is secondary to the characters. The story provides a framework for the bonds your character's form along the journey. Cordelia is a great example of story told through character relationships. The story is fine for what it is, not overly complicated, just a simple story with the message of destiny is not written, it is what you choose to make of it. Just like the moral, you get out of Awakening what you put into it through the cultivation of relationships. If the characters in a story are not compelling, why should I care, even if the premise or story itself is good (Attack on Titan). I care about Awakening's cast because I spent the time cultivating their bonds and getting to know each and every one of them. They elevate a simple story into something greater in my opinion.
That's the problem, if the story is just there to provide a framework for those things then it shouldn't have tried to be anything more than that, which it very, very clearly wants to be, and fails miserably.
Yeah but the story is kinda ass. If the story was decent, it would be fine if it was a simple magic of friendship story (even though it's also a romeo and juliet story), but the story is garbo.
I've always liked Cordelia. She's been my favorite Awakening character from the start, but due to my seeming inability to deeply analyze anything but traditional literature, I could never put my finger exactly on why she's my favorite. I relate to her, to an extent, with my near inability to depend on others even if it would have turned out for the better and my impossible self-standards. Thank you for laying her complexities bare so that I might be able to do her character justice in my own writings.
Its great to see Support Science on an Awakening character, the hate on Awakening should really stop its not just a Waifu Simulator, people love it for reasons. Like me.
Cordelia and Severa are two of my favourite characters in Awakening. I feel like IS actually put a lot more effort into their personalities and supports. They fit into archetypes on a surface level but peel down a few layers and they have more to them and I'm glad you managed to show that off here Ghast. You da man.
I don't like unrequited love characters because they never get the true happy ending I want. It's a dumb reason, but I'm a sucker for those kinds of endings.
Blue Sea Except Faye is petty garbage with zero depth and forced "development" only as Silque's only Support. Alm ending up with her would have dragged him down for the sake of happiness for a character who selfishly and thoughtlessly disregarded his feelings for Celica at times and treated others like dirt because they weren't him.
Unrequited love is way more interesting than the usual fairytale "love always wins" crap. Hell, the fact that you want a happier ending means that it was well executed!
Even Camilla is just a thot because she wants to be the mother the nohrian and corrin never had. Faye though, knew Alm liked Celica since childhood, only wants to impress her, only wants to talk about Alm to Silque, and even tries to straight up manipulate Alm's love life. Camilla is far from the worst *THOT*
Wow, Cordelia has a lot more going on in terms of character than I originally thought Ok, lets see, very interesting character, good design, wears the color red and has red hair, YEP, Cordelia is now one of my most favorite characters in the series Thank you Ghast for creating these support sciences, they've helped open my eyes to just how great (or bad) some characters I never gave a second glance to are. Thank you for that Ghast. Can't wait for the next support science video!
I liked this video. I will be honest Cordelia is my favorite FE female. Tbh I find her marring Robin to be the best option for her as I see her getting over Chrom more when she ends up with him more than with someone else and she grows as a character because of him.
Franziska Von Karma I know right. I bought my copy last February and it was 35 bucks. Nintendo doesn't really reduce the price of their game until a lot later. It sucks, but u think I got my 35 dollar's worth
Senior Lazzyman I can understand that, I truly can. But after 5 whole years [And the game losing some relevance.] The price should drop. I just find it irksome a game i enjoy is still so pricy that I just flat out refuse to buy it. Same with the digital 40$ version.
"People think I didn't like Awakening" That just proves the amount of time and effort that went into this support science because it was initially made before the advent of the VIRIDIAN BOOTY videos.
I feel like Cordelia is such a popular character to marry (children and stats aside) because of her unrequited love for Chrom. Those kinds of characters are so popular because everyone's been in her position atleast once. I may be completely wrong but that's how I see it. We've all had feeling for someone we know we can't have and we just wish that person or somebody better would just tell us how amazing we really are. That's why people choose to marry Cordelia, because they want to be that person that says "you don't need him/her because you have me". Or maybe she's just a popular wife because Severa is really good.
Elyseon I’m sure they talk at some point. It was probably just the developers cruel joke to not give them supports. I would be very surprised if they never had any interactions though.
@@Elyseon It's funny, because my first pairing was with Lon'Qu, so where he mentioned that he knows she loves Chrom, I was genuinely surprised, because I hadn't seen any of her other pairings.
Cordelia, Nowi, Tharja, and Olivia, are my favorite girls from Awakening, for the OG units. Like how Virion, Stahl, Lon'qu, Gaius, and Henry, are my favorite male units in the first Gen. Although... I feel like I'm forgetting someone...
Bonus points if you ALSO have Corrin (Male) marry Caeldori in Fates. As its likely a case of reincarnations falling in love as well. Caeldori to Corrin in her S-support: "Our love is eternal. Somehow I just know it. If we meet again in a distant future, dear love, promise you'll remember me... promise."
I have to say, this is an amazing and well thought out video about Cordelia, my best girl and favorite waifu material girl in all of Fire Emblem. I will always prefer to ship Cordelia with Robin as his seems best in my eyes to help her get over the loss of her knights and in a way, learn to accept herself in time. Plus she never mentions Chrom when around Robin. As if she while at one time had feelings for Chrom. Was able to move on to Robin without comparing him to Chrom.
Cordelia is one of my favorite characters in all of Fire Emblem and I feel like she gets a bit too much hate, so I appreciate you doing a video of you going into depth about Cordelia and her growth. Also, M!Robin x Cordelia OTP!
no fighting. awakening is a wonderful game where each persons playthrough is different and open to interpretation. some people like pepperoni on their pizza, others maybe a little bit of onion, or just plain cheese. we all have different tastes and that's ok
+Gregster 101 I agree and they are my OTP of Fire Emblem as well. I would also like to add that even though Fates wasn't the best FE game, it was nice to see that even in their past lives Robin/Corrn's and Cordelia/Caeldori's love remained strong.
What a lovely video. I personally married Cordelia in my second run in Awakening. I love her design, and her support conversations with the male avatar looked stupid at first, but they had depth and symbolism. She is one of my favorite units in Awakening. I think you forgot to mention her Confession line with the Avatar. She says: "Thank you. I thought nothing could warm my heart again. I shall love you above (pauses for a split second) all others, for the rest of my days." I think she still has Chrom in her mind. It is a really interesting point that you missed imo.
Thank you for making this video. Whenever I'd see people call Cordelia some shallow perfect character with no flaws I'd be baffled. Cordelia is probably my favorite character from Awakening. I could admire and respect her intelligence and hard work yet I could also identify with her pessimistic perfectionism towards herself. I was able to realize that she wasn't truly perfect and that made me like her character even more when she was actually able to mature as a character through her kids and supports such as hers with Robin (which is probably my favorite).
I think its nice that in their S support Robin doesn't seem to have any idea about her want for Chrom like most of her other S supports and though she hesitates she accepts without a caviat like she does with the others.
So she's me. Avoiding compliments, not asking for help, hating myself, and constantly setting unrealistic standards to achieve an unhealthy feeling of satisfaction. The difference between me and her is, I don't push myself. Instead of working hard to achieve dreams that will remain dreams, I gave up a long time ago, and I hate myself more for it. Great support science, I really enjoyed this psychoanalysis of a shockingly relatable character.
Of all Cordelia Supports, I really like her and Stahl. It made me feel like she actually got over Chrom because of him. I love their supports so much, that every playthrough I always pair them together.
I'm still not a huge fan of Cordelia but I will say this video has made me see her in a better light. Also, I'm glad I wasn't wrong in shipping her with Gregor. I knew there was something special about that support, but I could never quite put my finger on the reason as you did in this video. Too bad I like Stahl as Severa's father more than anything which makes me S-support them more often than not, despite his and Cordelia's support being rather lackluster.
This was perfect (pun intended). It really explains how Cordelia really is and she is honestly one of my favourite characters in awakening. She's second on my top 3 FEA characters (the third being the all mighty Grima and the first being dear little cinnamon roll Morgan both genders). Now one character in Support Science that i'd really like to see is the screaming pineap- i mean Takumi and his low self-esteem issues. Sadly i'm broke af and i can't pay you to do it. Life sucks sometimes, man
First FE:A Support Science and ya knock it out of the park. Cordelia's such an interesting character and her support with Gregor is definitely a favourite of mine, so it was great to hear you talk about it. (And I always like seeing the Stahl appreciation)
Thank you Faerghast for going into full detail on Cordelia’s character. I just hate it when people act like Cordelia’s chrom obsession is her only character trait when there is so much more to her. She’s smart, beautiful, talented and gifted. But her other flaws include her insecurities like being branded a genius, her flat chest and survivors guilt. Her support conversation with Stahl shows that she’s slowly moving on from her pining over Chrom which is why it’s a fan favorite. Hell, during her support with Robin, Chrom is not once mentioned and it focuses more on her character.
"Her life was beast-like and devoid of pity;, and being so shall make me want to have pity." Dunno but this Shakespearean quote resonated with me upon knowing Cordelia much deeper.
Wait people hate Awakening? Not only is it my favorite Fire Emblem, it saved this amazing franchise. Regardless thank you for doing this video, Cordelia is one my favorite FEA characters and preferred wife of Robin.
After watching this, I realized what a missed opportunity Libra and Cordelia support chain is. Those two are in a very similar situation (only survivor and suffering from loneliness) but their supports don't mention it at all.
this is why I ship Robin and Cordelia. I actually dislike that she's got this unrequited thing for Chrom. I feel like the writers only did that because they wanted to repeat Catria and Marth (it was Catria right?) and I think that that's dumb and lazy. I do think that Cordelia genuinely cared about Severa, and I think that's what drove her in the future. One of my friends once gave me his opinion that Severa "hated" her mother. I have to disagree. I think Severa had some of the strongest feelings of love toward her mother in actuality, and that's why she's so bitter. Also, yeah, Frederick and Cordelia's S support makes it seem like she's just settling, but their entire subplot is so funny. "You spent two hours describing in vivid detail your unrequited passion for Chrom" Poor Frederick. That happens a lot with his supports actually... lol
Wanted to say that this was a great review about Cordelia's character. Even with all the time I've invested with it, I didn't even pick up how calm she was with Severa. When I first saw all conversations with Severa, and Morgan too, I did feel something was different with Cordelia, I just didn't know how to describe it. But, I did feel that her parenting was never bad at all and with what she said made it feel she genuinely cared for her kids. And with how well you summarized it, those conversations really did solidify how mature and even happy she became. Honestly, it made me kinda emotional to realize how better off she has become with these deep relationships she's made. Keep up the good work!
I know there are people who like or hate Cordelia's whole obsession with Chrom, but while I found it pretty annoying at first, I DID like the whole theory that Cordelia's obsession with Chrom is less so true affection, but more a coping mechanism because her inferiority complex, anxiety, perfectionist nature, her guilt, and her idolization of Caeda. When talking with Donnel, she talks about Caeda and how she loves not just her skills as a pegasus knight, but also her social skills. She even admits she wants to be just like Caeda Meanwhile, It's brief and non-canon, but in Warriors she finally gets to meet her idol and you can see how she geeks out about her Well, one of the most noticeable things that Caeda accomplished over Cordelia is that she managed to win over her time's blue-haired hero: Marth. Chrom is, in a way, Awakening's Marth, he's the hero of this time Per her conversation with Ricken: Cordelia feels the need that to live up to her idol, she must win over her time's hero who saved her before and greatly impressed her. Meanwhile in Summer Scramble, she can't talk to Chrom properly and knows the relationship wouldnt work. After reading about it a bit more, I agree that it's because she's actually also afraid that Chrom would turn from this perfect romantic Marth-stand in hero into...a real person. She has trouble accepting this And while some of her other supports aren't too great at showing her character growth and moving past her anxiety and obsession, Robin and Severa's did a great job at moving her character forward
Dude I love this series and thanks to you I’ve gained a new appreciation to Cordelia as a character and I realize how much I actually relate to her. So keep up the great work
Excellent analysis Ghast. This series has cause me to take a more serious and open look at characters I had previously dismissed as being bad, as well criticize those I've loved out of nostalgia.
Cordelia is one of those characters that I get people's complaints about, but still find incredibly appealing. I think Awakening's biggest strength is its characters as established through supports, and IMO Cordelia is a good example of both some of the most compelling and most mediocre ones.
Good to hear you like Awakening. I honestly was worried that you were someone who took a good game and spat upon it because it was different from what you hold nostalgia for. Honestly, that mindset scares me. The idea that nostalgia is more important than actually making a good game is a scary idea. But i'll get to that later. Good job Ghast. This is a great start for awakening.
Leo Fielding that's not where the hate comes from, it's mostly the story. Although the waifu stuff didn't help, in my experience the story is what kills people
The nostalgia blind people are legitimately sad. However, there are legitimate pros and cons to every FE game including awakening. Belittling it to nostalgia is just unfair.
Bartholomew Peter I agree that looking at the pros and cons of each game is more important than looking at a series as a whole. (I also believe that reading the previous comments is important to make a comment chain make sence and not devolve into madness without context.) Preserve context, (and don't reply to the last 2 paragraphs I just wrote, only the first.)
The story's not terrible, though. Obviously it's not the greatest and can pale to some other games, it's still st least alright. I enjoyed it, and barely even noticed on my first playthrough.
I really enjoy this episode..your Support Science helps me to discover a new way of understanding character, their motivation and griefs. And it makes me how to appreciate them more. (Especially Cordelia thanks what I learnt since she's one of my favorite characters of this opus) I'm not a follower of FE and rather playing it than "learning it", but this, your work tickles my curiosity and i really like it. Thank you and keep going on ! :D
This was a beautiful character deconstruction, thank you so much! This was my first fe game but after seeing such vibrant characters and dynamic plots from previous installments, i've been trying to look at it with more objective criticism. That being said, it was so nice to be reminded of what I liked about the game in the first place (I forgot how sweet pairing Cordelia/Gregor to each other was 😁).
Great episode as usual. Thanks for making this kind of content. Cordelia was my first waifu. Don't know if I realized it at the time, but this episode made me (re?)realize I used to have some of her same issues, and still do, tho to a lesser degree. In particular, I remember very vividly how, as a kid, I didn't want to be helped because that'd make me feel as a burden to others. A teacher even told me once I shouldn't feel "so superior" to others as to deny their help, to which I replied it was the exact opposite; I was even called a genius back then too. While now I know asking for help is ok (and even consider having people willing to lend you a hand a strenght), more recently I became kind of an other-oriented perfectionist (I've tried to work on that as well. Feel it shouldn't be an issue anymore but hey, didn't felt it was an issue until I was explicitly told). Can't say I have much of an affinity towards her anymore. Severa tho? I freaking love her as my daughter. Can't really put why into words. If I still marry Cordelia after my first run, is just to be Severa's father again. During the "Before Awakening" special conversation between Selena and Chrom, I felt Selena was talking directly to me when she said "You'll forgive me for this, right Daddy? don't worry, I know she'll choose you in the end"... I was having a rough moment with my gf during that time and that line hit me like a truck.
Not true. Florina has better availability (especially if you include Lyn's story which can boost her a bunch) and better strength and speed growths. If you're using a Peg Knight properly when it comes to combat (as in hit and run) then 9 times out of 10 Florina is gonna edge out Fiora.
Docaccino Fair, the bases argument is a good point. I wouldn't argue that Fiora is out and out better than Florina though in every aspect, cos that's not quite true.
FEA: Cordelia is interesting unique and tortured by own self perfection and Sumia is a Clutzy Lolli. CrashX500: SUMIA IS THE GREATEST FIRE EMBLEM CHARACTER EVAR AAAAAAAAAGVAGAAAGGH!!
Man, I can somewhat relate to Cordelia. Not in the genius, or everyone around me died way, but in the looking at my superiors, self criticism and perfectionist way.
It's been a while since I played awakening and all I vaguely remembered from cordillia was a one note character. Seeing more of her supports analysed in this video after all this time made me aware of a lot more to her character. Good job on this.
Cordelia has always been one my favorite characters in awakening, so I'm glad you made this video, because many just see her as Mary Sue and waifu material only
Honestly I like Stahl and Ricken too. I like how their relative normalcy allows the other members of the awakening cast to bounce off them. I’d also add Donnel to that mix these 3 collectively have the overall best supports in the game in my humble opinion. Just about everyone else is an archetype that is enjoyable to watch or an ideal to strive for.
Really loved this video, great job! I dunno why most people hated Cordelia, maybe they're overwhelmed by her perfectionist/pessimistic traits? To me, she's my number one favourite because I could relate to her the most. Almost to the point I see myself in her. To see her grow throughout the game, especially with Robin, Virion and Gregor like you discussed was beautiful. But her interactions with her daughter that made me very proud of her (not to mention made me love Severa as well haha). Keep it up! Love your Support Science.
Cordelia is best waifu. FIGHT ME BOIS!!! I AM NOT afraid to *S H I E L D D R O P* anyone who says otherwise! Cordelia just needs a good hug... *proceeds to make a save file to marry Cordelia*
Eh, fine. I personally like others more, but i can respect this. In fact... if the payment is right (sweets, gaius is my spirit animal)... I WILL DO A KJELLE AND PENGUIN SLIDE INTO THE HATERS!!! *A A A A A A A A A A A A T T A A A A A C K!!!!!!!*
i understand the backlash towards awakening, sure the story was subpar, however i found some of the supports to be really entertaining and fleshed out. Panne x Gregor i recall being one of the more believable romances, some of Kellam's supports were enjoyable, and i found a couple of the child units to be decent. None of these characters are getting face time in these crossover games though :(.
I honestly feel for her so much. I have similar issues. I appear to have a good life and I still grieve over an event that happened over 3 years ago. I can’t escape it. Too much reminds me of it and it has to do with parental custody. I live in texas. My fathers side of the family lives in Indiana. We always had such a connection with our family. I moved and I feel shattered, but I must stay strong for my brother. He already has enough anxiety. If I take it to court, I may lose him, and he may lose me. I am the only one close who understands him. He would feel like I feel. I can’t allow myself to inflict such a thing upon him. So I must wait for the situation to change.
I was caught by her beauty at first (Redhaired girls are my type) when the conversations began and discovered that she is not only a pretty face, but also strong and smart enough to put me in shame, I said she is mine. I fell for her in a way that I only married her. Even now i like her even more. I may sound weird and pathetic for this but I do even get I little jealous when I find comics pairing her with other characters. (damn you all, she is my wife)
This was freaking excellent!!! This is the reason why Cordelia was not just my favorite character in Awakening, but my favorite Fire Emblem character period. I identified with the idea of being a perfectionist, and that nothing was worth doing if one wasn't aiming to be the best. Failures used to crush me and I became self-condemning and beat myself up inside about them. My friends helped me to let go of the idea of always having to be near perfect at everything. I was also always the kind of person who would work himself to death for the sake of other people but it took time for me to become a good listener who could give truly constructive advice because I used to assume I could just fix things based on my own logic and understanding.
Wow, this was fantastic. I don't claim to be the best with psychology, and haven't officially studied it, but I like to think I'm good at analyzing and seeing more to the character than what is immediately obvious. That being said, you manage to point out things that I missed, and I already liked Cordelia and looked into her character before, so colour me impressed.
Thanks Ghast, I always loved Cordelia, and I think you nailed down her character really well! Love your support sciences btw. I found your channel and subscribed because of them! :)
Man I'm always so happy to see these uploaded. Great video as always Ghast. Keep up the hard work! I enjoyed Awakening and it was the first fire emblem I played. I caused me to go back and play the rest of them. It wasn't my favorite, but it did the job of introducing me to this fantastic series and your channel as welll.
Docaccino You are actually half the problem. Shut up about them. When you call them out, they take that as a challenge. It can only make things worse, so shut up and look from their point of view, even if you don't agree with it.
Me before the video: Oh good I love Cordelia. I can't wait to learn more about her. Me after the video: OMG WTF I LOVE CORDELIA SOOOO MUCH NO LIKE SHE IS SO STRONG AND BEAUTIFUL SHE SHOULD NEVER BE ASHAMED OF COMPLIMENTS BECAUSE SHE DESERVES IT. Also, yes i completely understand why she couldn't marry Chrom and it just makes her a stronger person.
Dang, Ghast. You have a real knack for this. I thought Cordelia was an ok character with a kind of pathetic fixation on Chrom. Now I see her as a super-complex person, and seeing her Severa relationship culminate her arc is pretty damned cool (Severa was actually the only child character who died before I could recruit them, so I never actually got to see her interact with anyone.)
Cordelia is still my favorite character in the series along with Mercedes. Cordelia especially is just an amazing character that is way way more nuanced then what people give her credit
This video actually really shook me up emotionally telling me what I'm doing wrong and what I'm doing right. It's really difficult keeping track of life when all you're doing is just riding it like a wave so learning how to change perspective so that you can better yourself as a person really helps. With me it's not the issue that i am in love with someone i cant reach but it's an issue where i tell myself that i don't actually deserve anyone to love me back since I'm not contributing to the fact of actually being deserving of love. It's hard moving forward without love since we humans are social animals and having such a cynical view on the matter doesn't really help at all so I will try and change that a bit so that i stop holding myself back and let go. PS: I actually almost cried a little when hearing about cordelias hardships but don't tell anyone or you're dead, capiche?
I've played this game more than a healthy amount and I have never bothered to notice Cordelia was an actually well developed character. I've used Sumia every playthrough and Cordelia on about...two...maybe. Honestly I just assumed people liked her cause she was pretty.
I really love this in-depth analysis of fire emblem characters, still haven't forgot about Xander's video, pretty good. Hope we get to see your side of opinions of controversial characters like Tharja, which is a character I love and understand.
Tbh, I have a "relative" who is suffering from a perfectionist complex and it's soul-crushing to someone you love put themselves so low they can't appreciate how much someone actually loves them. And sereva been the by-product of a perfectionist is also disheartening because she trying reach for something she not.
Congrats Ghast, you really made me appreciate Cordelia's character a lot more than before. Fucking sucks that I got her killed in my more recent playthrough. I might just reset just for that. Thanks for all you do, Ghast. From your strats to supports (and sometimes a shitpost), I'll always enjoy what you do. Keep it up.
Heyo! Hope you guys enjoyed this Support Science. Let me know what you think!
If you're new to my channel, why don't you stick around and hit that subscription button, too?
Thanks for watching!
Why am I crying? 😭🤧
_I need to go look up corgi photos now_
。゚(゚´Д`゚)゚。
That was actually fantastic. I always appreciated Cordelia as a character, but she wasn't my favorite. I romanced her on my second playthrough to see why she was so popular. Still didn't see why, despite having a good s support. Seeing this made me appreciate her a lot more than I thought I ever would. Great stuff.
Vladmir Poot I doubt anyone is capable of that
Pardon me sir whose next Innes,Lucina,(a four hour video on Corrin would be hilarious especially Conquest) im just kidding he has some good some supports others..eh,or Mist or Jaffar, Franz,Elincia I love your content and opinion sir.
She's not my favorite character in Awakening, but I can definitely relate to her. Great support science!
Cordelia + Sumia support
Cordelia- Is that weed?
Sumia- Don't panic its organic.
Cordelia- WTF.
Cordelia: SUMIA! IS THAT A WEED?!
Sumia: no this is a crayo-
Cordelia: IM CALLING THE PEGASUS KNIGHTS
Level0 Sumia: their dead but I'm here
cries
I REALLY wish the localization didn't downplay her startlingly realistic depression symptoms. They really add to her character, and make one of Awakening's most human characters feel even more so.
Virion, the unexpected support master.
xig at this point I think we can agree as fellow lovers of virion that the single greatest failing of FE13 was making him bad as a unit so that millions of people failed to see one of the best support sets in franchise history
Nate Murray no he’s the best unit. Didn’t you see Mangs use him? He almost solo’d Grima
No one expects the Virion Inquisition!
Virion is pretty excellent, Nate, indeed. Alas, his shortcoming as an unit does hurts him a lot. His future past conversations are pretty much excellent, with Inigo/Virion and Gerome/Virion being particular stands out.
I ADORE his support with Olivia
18:03 That Christmas Robin totally caught me off guard, lmao
Nekko Blue lol
Hype for that christmas summoning banner
Smug Christmas Robin best Robin.
Same.
Robin: "*sigh* Guess I'll die"
I vote for a support science on Virion. he's always been a really cool foil for a lot of other characters in awakening, and while I hated him at first, I've got this quiet appreciation for him now.
Virion's an awful unit, but almost all of his supports are gold.
I wouldn't say he's an "awful" unit, though I will admit that Noire outclasses him in basically every way.
Well damn, you actually made me interested in Cordelia.
Says the guy who married her
What, the spotlight I requested wasn't enough? :P
Mangs YOU WEREN'T INTERESTED IN CORDELIA?!??!
Mangs:well, i married her, but it's not like i was atracted by her or anything.
I was interested before this. Now, I understand her better... And love her even more
I'll admit, i teared up a bit watching this.
Stolen Catchphrase Same here
The hate isn't rampant, what are you talking about? Most think it's a snoozefest, but don't hate it. Right now, any hate is because of it's overexposure, especially with Warriors going on right now.
Wherever i go, i always seem to find people complaining about it, especially because of warriors. Guess i'm just unlucky then...
In my opinion Awakening has the second best cast in fire emblem, but its second only to sacred stones so second is still very good.
Geenobe Just wait until
We get FE4 remake and they add supports.
I can see some of myself put into Cordelia (albeit she has a much more extreme traits of this)
Thanks for another great support science.
As someone who has nearly all of the Supports unlocked in Awakening, I can agree, knowing the characters is worth the replayability.
Like me.
Eduardo Diaz I like it too, but you gotta admit, the story does kinda suck. But that's no reason to completely disregard everything else
I kinda thought most people let it go to harp on Fates nowadays.
Bartholomew Peter pretty much me lol, but I have legitimate reasons and don't blindly hate
Marvin Cruz what?
Fe4 is my baby, but Fe13 is a pretty nice game as well. Sure it gets too much attention and there are some flaws, but I still like it.
Cordelia and Severa are two of my favourite characters in Awakening. I feel like IS actually put a lot more effort into their personalities and supports. They fit into archetypes on a surface level but peel down a few layers and they have more to them and I'm glad you managed to show that off here Ghast.
You da man.
You don't need some weed to tell you what to do - Cordelian life advice
I don't like unrequited love characters because they never get the true happy ending I want. It's a dumb reason, but I'm a sucker for those kinds of endings.
Blue Sea Almost.
Blue Sea A L M O S T
Wow, Cordelia has a lot more going on in terms of character than I originally thought
Ok, lets see, very interesting character, good design, wears the color red and has red hair, YEP, Cordelia is now one of my most favorite characters in the series
Thank you Ghast for creating these support sciences, they've helped open my eyes to just how great (or bad) some characters I never gave a second glance to are. Thank you for that Ghast. Can't wait for the next support science video!
When you're not sure if he intentionally forgot to mention Kellam's support or not.
Steve Smith kellem and cordelia have some of the best kellem supports in the game though.
Who?
Is kellam like dlc or something? I don’t think I’ve ever recruited him
I liked this video. I will be honest Cordelia is my favorite FE female. Tbh I find her marring Robin to be the best option for her as I see her getting over Chrom more when she ends up with him more than with someone else and she grows as a character because of him.
DragonRider1396 AMEN
Wait. Wait. 5 years?
And a used version is still 50$ at GameStop? I know that's off topic but that annoys me
Game wasn't produced all that much. It was pretty hard to find a physical copy even during launch.
Dude buy eshop version
Firas Khasawneh You didn't read my comment addressing the digital version.
"People think I didn't like Awakening"
That just proves the amount of time and effort that went into this support science because it was initially made before the advent of the VIRIDIAN BOOTY videos.
There's a fine line between unrequited love and obsession. Especially whe she never even bothers fucking talking to the guy.
Ohh I have been looking forward to this SO much. Thank you so much for doing this, Ghast. Cordelia was one of my favorite characters in Awakening.
Scazura Byakuya waifu for laifu
for eternity
Gregster 101
I'm with you on that, buddy!
They make the cutest pairing.
Especially with the daughters.
+Gregster 101
I agree and they are my OTP of Fire Emblem as well. I would also like to add that even though Fates wasn't the best FE game, it was nice to see that even in their past lives Robin/Corrn's and Cordelia/Caeldori's love remained strong.
Gregster 101 Cordelia no one otp
Chaz_Bernard XVII
Robin X Cordelia, ALWAYS!
I like Cordelia. Her biggest flaws are mine.
Theitsybitsyspider Same🤧
Theitsybitsyspider What.
Are all of your old bullies dead?
So, you don't do good at running?
I haz inferiority complex
Leo Fielding not yet anyway.
Robin x Cordelia all the way!!!
Yes
Yes, always!!
I like pairing Cordelia with Lon'qu. But her other supports seem a lot better.
CometX-ing isn't Olivia the"canon" pair for lon qu?
Alex Oyinkolade i did Lon'qu x Olivia too.
She can't be, Lissa is.
The only character to have a "canon" pairing is Chrom. Everyone else is up in the air.
CometX-ing Are you kidding?
Owain uses a sword, is guaranteed to be a myrmadon(wtf is that word) AND LISSA HAS AN OBVIOUS CRUSH ON LON QU.
"Her life was beast-like and devoid of pity;, and being so shall make me want to have pity."
Dunno but this Shakespearean quote resonated with me upon knowing Cordelia much deeper.
It is. That might be part of why they're one of my favorite couples.
this is why I ship Robin and Cordelia.
That happens a lot with his supports actually... lol
It's actually Caeda/shiida. Catria is part of the pegasus sisters.
Yeah, I'm aware that I'm four years late
She even admits she wants to be just like Caeda
Meanwhile, It's brief and non-canon, but in Warriors she finally gets to meet her idol and you can see how she geeks out about her
Well, one of the most noticeable things that Caeda accomplished over Cordelia is that she managed to win over her time's blue-haired hero: Marth. Chrom is, in a way, Awakening's Marth, he's the hero of this time
Per her conversation with Ricken: Cordelia feels the need that to live up to her idol, she must win over her time's hero who saved her before and greatly impressed her.
Meanwhile in Summer Scramble, she can't talk to Chrom properly and knows the relationship wouldnt work. After reading about it a bit more, I agree that it's because she's actually also afraid that Chrom would turn from this perfect romantic Marth-stand in hero into...a real person. She has trouble accepting this
And while some of her other supports aren't too great at showing her character growth and moving past her anxiety and obsession, Robin and Severa's did a great job at moving her character forward
Dude I love this series and thanks to you I’ve gained a new appreciation to Cordelia as a character and I realize how much I actually relate to her. So keep up the great work
15 minutes in and I went from being not really liking Cordelia to her being my favorite character holy crap. Poor girl. I feel for her.
Although the waifu stuff didn't help, in my experience the story is what kills people
Crap. I misread your comment. Let's try again.
Hmm. What's so bad about the story?
I want to hear what you (or anyone who agrees with you) don't like.
The nostalgia blind people are legitimately sad. However, there are legitimate pros and cons to every FE game including awakening. Belittling it to nostalgia is just unfair.
Bartholomew Peter I agree that looking at the pros and cons of each game is more important than looking at a series as a whole.
(I also believe that reading the previous comments is important to make a comment chain make sence and not devolve into madness without context.)
Preserve context, (and don't reply to the last 2 paragraphs I just wrote, only the first.)
The story's not terrible, though. Obviously it's not the greatest and can pale to some other games, it's still st least alright. I enjoyed it, and barely even noticed on my first playthrough.
This is just *perfect*
Oh my gosh IVE NEVER LOVED CORDELIA CORDELIA BEFORE AS MUCH AS I DO NOW
I really enjoy this episode..your Support Science helps me to discover a new way of understanding character, their motivation and griefs. And it makes me how to appreciate them more.
(Especially Cordelia thanks what I learnt since she's one of my favorite characters of this opus)
I'm not a follower of FE and rather playing it than "learning it", but this, your work tickles my curiosity and i really like it.
This analysis was spot on, excellent job Ghast.
You could say this was... perfect.
I'll see myself out
Great episode as usual.
She's the only flier (aside from Tana and Florina) that I could use effectively. She was so great as a unit and a character.
GigaWolf5 Fiora is better than florina in every aspect thou. Sumia is preety good too with cordelia.
Cordelia has always been one my favorite characters in awakening, so I'm glad you made this video, because many just see her as Mary Sue and waifu material only
Good to see you're updating with that sweet Mayo art
Stahl support science pls.
B E S T B O Y
YES PLEASE
Honestly I like Stahl and Ricken too. I like how their relative normalcy allows the other members of the awakening cast to bounce off them. I’d also add Donnel to that mix these 3 collectively have the overall best supports in the game in my humble opinion. Just about everyone else is an archetype that is enjoyable to watch or an ideal to strive for.
Cordelia was never my favorite Awakening character, but I always felt like she and Robin were meant to be together.
KV CRAZYBOY i could never pair anyone else with her but robin
KV CRAZYBOY
Same.
The pairing and the family they have is just too perfect to pass up!
You misspelled Lon'Qu there, boy.
Of course, and combined with the amount of conversation outside support this pairing is cannon with the pairing of Female avatar x Chrom too is cannon
Such an exquisite video! I hope for an Elise support science one day!

I WILL DO A KJELLE AND PENGUIN SLIDE INTO THE HATERS!!!
*A A A A A A A A A A A A T T A A A A A C K!!!!!!!*
@Colton Zuspan you my friend have good taste
Fantastic video. Was really excited for this, and the wait was worth it.
It's the first support science I can see without spoiling myself, and I finally get why they are so great!
I'm both happy and sad right now. Thanks Ghast, these are so well put together.
I wouold love to see a Gregor support science, he is hands down my favourite Awakening character.
OH MY GAWD!
is that song...
A persons warmth from Wild Arms 3!?!
god I love that game...
i understand the backlash towards awakening, sure the story was subpar, however i found some of the supports to be really entertaining and fleshed out. Panne x Gregor i recall being one of the more believable romances, some of Kellam's supports were enjoyable, and i found a couple of the child units to be decent. None of these characters are getting face time in these crossover games though :(.
I really liked Cordelia's character, her supports with Virion and Gregor really are something special.
"Rest in peace, young buck"? WHAT DID YOU DO TO RICKEN?!
I'm a simple man, I see best girl, I click.
Indeed. Tharja is the only other one closest enough to best girl, besides Cordelia. Well, or Lucina or Severa.
Woo!! Cordelias my favorite character ever i love her and this vid thanks for making it
Ive devoted part of my life to her
Been looking forward to this! Great video as always.
Do more of these character deconstructions in awakening. Please. You've redeemed a character I didn't care for, and made me really interested in her.
Cordelia is the best girl in Awakening and Fates.
Wow, some Awakening characters are really complex! I never realized just how tragic (and beautiful) her supports were.
Yeesh. Dude, you've reminded me why I fell in love with Awakening. The game's characterization can be glorious...
I love fire emblem, but I needed this video.
I am much like Cordelia and had no idea.
Thank you.
God damn does Virion know how to flirt. He actually knows how to read people.
inb4 "awakening sux" comments
I assumed the same thing. I never liked the design as much as other people seemed to and never bothered with her because of it.
This confirms my number 1 rule of fe awakening:
Gregor is best boi/man
Gregor is best gregor is lyfe
Really though, i keep sending feedbacks to IS to put gregor and basilio in feh
I liked her a lot before, but you brought such interesting points I love her even more now.
Keep it up.
