Not sure if you saw Ofgem and NESO’s new proposal 10-25% of last years payment for grid shedding but I think they have hobbled the whole initiative, yeah I want to have full control and tell them as and when they can use it. Who determines if it’s too hot, if your not going to make a long journey in the car, if your going to be using a lot of battery power already and the 10% that has been taken pushes you into peak rate. For me that’s too much control in someone else’s hands that have vested interest and I wouldn’t say they have the same interest in saving you money! Great idea but the owner of the equipment should be the one in charge, say the equipment owner gets notified ie we need power now, 10min hour so on we will pay XYZ your battery, car level heat is XYZ can we use 5% which will leave you with XYZ. Can you ask them those questions, batteries are not free as Ofgem and NESO may not know running more cycle degrades them the high payment is to compensate for that and their replacement. I’m sure they will pay the backup plants a lot more when they kick in because people are not mugs and this is not Octopus but the two responsible for pricing and the grid. Don’t knock HA filled the gap that big tech lefted so they could put you in there walled garden.
Invalid comparison to Bluetooth. As Bluetooth is run by Bluetooth Special Interest Group a not for profit organisation. So each company Sony, Microsoft, Samsung etc all pay the same licensing fee to use Bluetooth in their products. Whereas this Kraken Virtual Power Plant software is owned by Octopus (you already said it was there biggest profit maker) and would be a unfair monopoly if all energy companies used it! Ideally there should be a equivalent of Bluetooth that is run by a not for profit organisation. With every energy company paying the same licensing fees.
You would hope that selling back to the grid would get a good price, but after the huge cut in DFS payments this year can we be sure the regulator will be onboard? The technology maybe there, but are the powers (forgive the pun) on board?
Thank you, I've managed to get octopus data and Solax into home assistant. I just need them to talk to each other. I tried setting an automation so when ohme is charging then charge charge battery but it won't let me add an action. Hopefully this makes sense
@ if you read the solax documentation does it tell you what command is to set charge session? Also you doing settings/automantions & scenes/create automation/start a new from scratch/ when trigger Ohme/then do inverter.. It be preform action and action be set battery charge or something along them lines

I'm on Agile. Last week I was paid 67p to charge my car from 10%. I also filled my batteries and heated a tank of water. All for negative cost.
It sounds like it will be useful if you have mixed brand kit in your house.
Thanks for the update. I'm currently trying to figure out home assistant with limited success 😂
What part you struggling with... Lets try help
