This was great when I was a kid and it's even better now that I fully understand it, Perfect show, More Raccoons please Kevin. Even My nephew loves it and he's 11 ( just been introduced) Best show on air in 1980's UK
I heard about The Raccoons coming out on Blu-Ray. That would be awesome, and DVD, assuming this time it's all 60 episodes and all 4 specials. :) The old DVD releases only had episodes of seasons 2 and 3, and the UK released all of seasons 1 and 2 on DVD.
I love the way you texted the way Cyril Sneer talks at the end as it represents what we don't want changed. I also would hate to see 'The Raccoons' as flash animation or 'Dare I say it' CGI.
I don't know. I wish it was. Actually I wish they bring out a full soundtrack with the full versions of all the songs, including the original version of "Run With Us" by Steve Lunt. Surely all the songs still exist somewhere, waiting to be revived in a new compilation soundtrack, and heard again by many Raccoons fans out there. :)
So it went on to the 90's? Just like Ghost Busters. It's so good that we as fans can make a community to remember things that we love. Hopefully it won't return with new eps n turn into Bill n Mandy.
@boru25 I agree. After seeing many of todays cartoons (some I like and many I don't), I'd dread to see what the Raccoons would be like if the series was modernized, even if it's a whole new cast of voice actors. Or if Cyril Sneer has to give up smoking, because of blasted health and blasted safety.
does anybody remember the name of the band that did the music for the cartoon series. I know the band Hannah name. They did a series of songs for the series and released an album at one point I remember seeing a Wikipedia page about it several years ago, but I can't for the life of me remember the name.
The only band I can think of that worked on The Raccoons is the Dior Brothers, who performed "Sooner or Later" and "This Time". If not them, then I can't think of anything else.
most of the songs for the show were all done by one band if i remember correctly. They were called something like the runaways or strangers or Outcasts something like that. From what I understand . as I understand it, they only released one album back in the day somewheres in the early 90s and that was the songs they did for the shallow. Like I said at one point somebody showed me a Wikipedia page about it. And that was like 10 years ago.
Well, I hope someone with more knowledge can answer your question as I'm in the dark about it. I know there is an episode called "The Runaways" and "Sooner or Later" by the Dior Brothers was featured in that.
@boru25 The Raccoons began with four specials, followed by the TV series. Here's a full list to help explain. :) 1980: The Christmas Raccoons 1981: The Raccoons on Ice 1983: The Raccoons and the Lost Star 1984: The Raccoons Let's Dance 1985-1991: The Raccoons TV Series
21 October 1985 Canada 4 July 1985 USA 4 March 1987 UK ( Wednesdays In the 5.35 slot, Sandwiched between CBBC and the 6'o clock news then they realised it'd work better on Sat mornings) I've seen a fair bit of your art, it's pretty good!
Thanks. :) And thanks for dates the series first aired. And if it aired in the UK on the 4th of March 1987, then maybe Ill try and watch the first episode this year on the 4th at 5.35, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of that moment. :)
Yeah, your Tiny Toons art is pretty great REALLY love your art of Fifi from TTA and The girls from the Sonicverse and your OCs are pretty good. Back to the Raccoons, I found it odd that it aired in that slot but this was the days before they moved the Neighbours repeat from the morning to the evening so they experimenting with everything at the time and as I said, It found it Audience on Saturdays on Going Live! Then again, it went out in Prime Time in its home country of Canada. Yes, Mondays around 7:30! Heard Kevin Gillis wants to revive the series at some point, I'd be behind that. Just as long as it isn't another bastardized generic reboot.
I heard about the plans to revive the series, and I also hope it's not gonna be a bad reboot. Years ago, I'd have been all excited, but after seeing many previous reboots and how much entertainment has changed, I've lost all hope in seeing another good classic revived series.
I guess I never thought about them, especially Sophia. I mean, this video was made 13 years ago. If I made it today, I'm sure I'd have included all the main characters, even as many secondary characters I can think of.
Grew up watching this, Have the entire collection. This has got to be one of the very best tributes I've seen in a very long time!

You sure do made a lovely picture I love it
Thanks. :)
best but probably the most underrated cartoon of the 1980s and early '90s
It did well in the rest of the world but never really caught on the U.S. despite being launched there first.
Nice video. Very well put together. :)
