      I have watched a video and appreciate your thorough breakdown of cold wallets. I have purchased the Tangem wallet. I am new to crypto and have been told that it’s critical that you get your money off of the exchange and on a cold hardware wallet so that your crypto is secure off-line. When I originally set up my tangent wallet, I did not realize that the hidden wallet was called a passphrase so I set it up with just a seed phrase. I came across this video today and I followed the instructions very very carefully pausing it multiple times to make sure I was doing the right thing when I followed your Video And process of adding the past phrase to my wallet was finished. I had zero balance in my wallet. in all of the videos, I’ve watched of yours. You always communicate that as long as we have our C phrase, we can access our wallet. I have written down my seat phrase. I have ordered a keystone plus plate to secure my seat, phrase, and now all of my crypto was gone. The balance in my tangent wallet is zero after adding a pass phrase. I am in shock and I am crushed to the reality that I just lost $13,000/all my crypto investments is there anything I can do? Is there anything you can do? Please reach out to me at your earliest convenience

    Sounds like the $5 wrench attack isn't avoided at all on Tangem because the extra passphrase word is stored on the card instead of input. The wallet access code should be the passphrase input so that one seed phrase could have an unlimited number of truly "hidden" passphrase accounts. You then give the attacker the passphrase that shows an account with low balances. Tandem seems to be missing the point of passphrase security, it just has the ability to add more to a seed for a single wallet account.

    This is great thanks, the card reset each time is a pain though. With my safepal I can choose passphrase and if I select no it takes me back to my original wallet and if I choose yes I enter the passphrase for the hidden wallet, similar for trezor. I will say one tip maybe is to transfer all crypto to another cold wallet first but maybe leave a test amount in if possible because the first time I tried this on my safepal I thought I’d messed it right up because I couldn’t reconnect my original wallet , two days I was panicking like mad 😂

    I don’t get it. You said we can create multiple hidden wallets with different passphrases? I created a seed phrase wallet and a passcode / passphrase. Not clear how to add additional passphrases. Any way to see how you do that and navigate login in and out of each hidden wallet? Need to factory reset each time? Seems too much hassle and better to just get multiple card sets like you said. It would be a great feature for Tangem to make more user friendly to have easier ways to make hidden wallets easier to access with passphrases attached to the seed phrase that we could memorize in our heads and hide from Tangem app Home Screen and would only be visible when we enter the secret passphrases etc. For now this seems too complicated

    Great video, thanks! So, just to confirm: If you don’t have a cold wallet yet, you’ll first need to create a seed phrase. After that, you should factory reset the three Tangem cards. Once that's done, you'll start over, but this time, select the 'Import Wallet' option, add the seed phrase add then add a passphrase. Is that correct?

    • @TangemAnswers
      @TangemAnswers  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      If you don’t have a wallet yet, you can generate a seed phrase using Tangem when you first set up the cards.
      However, if you want to add a passphrase to your seed phrase, you’ll need to reset the wallet. Then, tap "import seed phrase," enter your seed, and set your desired passphrase. Once that's done, you're all set!

    I have a Ledger and I'm switching to Tangem. I’ve securely remembered my Ledger seed phrase. Can I restore my Ledger seed phrase on a Tangem and add a passphrase to effectively create an entirely different wallet? That’s only if you use a seedless wallet.

      Something I have not seen anyone address (or I missed it) is that anyone with 2 cards can reset your access code and have access to your wallets. The saftey (if U die, have a stroke etc) is worth it for some people for a family member to be able to have access... but if your threat profile warrants it, there is an option to disable that feature.

    Say I'm worried about a card truly giving me a "random" phrase... and I've heard that if you modify a seed phrase it can decrease its entropy.
    If I have my card generate say 4 seed phrases... and I the 3rd word from each then the 6th, then the 9th... etc til I hit 24 words total... have I decreased my entropy or since I'm pulling only based on 6 word numbers (chosen before so I can't subconsciously screw up the entropy) would I be just as secure and be able to get around the worries of "true randomness" in the generator???
    I plan to use a seed phrase too but I'm just trying to be as safe as I can. I have a reset iPhone (SIM removed) that has only been online long enough to download the app and authenticate it... then went to a location without WiFi or other electronics to generate them.
