  • Welcome back to another interview from my Mainland trip! This time I visited Jade and Charlie at Black Barn Farm in Stanley VIC. They have an amazing regenerative orchard, where they grow apples, pears, stone fruit, berries and more! They have a U-Pick, sell bare-rooted trees, and run some super cool workshops.

What a wonderful orchard! So many delicious apple varieties! I really love the idea of a collection of roadside apples and keeping those wild genetics alive.

I absolutely loved this interview. Every minute of it. Such warmth and wealth of knowledge. Wow. Wish I could try all these apples one day...

Love apples. Yum. So good straight of the tree, fresh, crunchy and so delicious.

These are what I grow, Bramley, Discovery, Spartan, Jupiter and red falstaff all selected over many years of growing apples for a living.

Good job asking about money @chilli. I think all of the regen farmers, maybe with the exception of Salatin, have to work off-farm. Its because of how we devalue food in our society (stupidly!). No amount of living cheaply or composting or doing things differently will make up for this. Sorry to be a downer! I hope you prove me wrong.

G'day Chilli, great interview. I learned a lot from this one. The composting method was really interesting. God bless you.🦘👍
