    I agree, this a way more productive rig for catch ing trout. The bait can move freely with the wind or can jig the bait to entice a strike. The bait appears more natural than the typical sliding or fixed sinker rig.

    Gonna have to try it like that next time. I always just put the weight and have the bait float to the top.

    I tell ya what. I just bobber fish set up the same as I do for steelhead for trout. Only difference is I downsize hooks and use the trout magnet weighted hooks with a little powerbait and I'll slam a ton of them.

    I myself use a very similair rig, however, I am too scared to put a split shot on the leader. Have you ever had any issues with it weakening the thin leader where the splitshot is squeezed on?

    • @NorthwestOpenSeason
      @NorthwestOpenSeason  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I haven’t experienced any issues with that. I typically use 6 lb test for trout, so maybe if you used lighter leaders. You could also use a small jighead instead of a bait holder hook.

      The tip on putting less powerbait for it to sink is great. It really reduces tangles from the bait floating up and spinning around the line itself. Thanks for that.

    could you just use a water bobber instead? the sliding bobber set ups seem so finicky.

    • @NorthwestOpenSeason
      @NorthwestOpenSeason  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can definitely use whatever bobber set up you’re most comfortable with. I just prefer the slip bobber because it’s adjustable to greater depths, and it’s easier for me to cast.
