I've seen lots of plumbing help videos on youtube and a lot of them take ages to explain and get to the point. Yours are perfect. No nonsense. Very clear instructions. Nicely done. So I thought I'd just say thank you very much. I've watched quite a few of your videos over the years and they've helped me a lot. I've made a note of your Amazon shop too.
Awesome, I didn't even know there was a switch on the pump and now that you've pointed it out, I can see mine is set to 3, which will explain why it sounds like a freight train running through the airing cupboard. I turned it down to 2 and turned up the thermostat and it sounds like a library now. Bliss, thank you.
I fitted one of those combisaves on your advice after watching your review. Great bit of kit & easy to fit. 👍 Saving so much water now and the hot comes through much quicker 👌
Brill Al. Didn't know that this was adjustable. We're having problems with heating the farthest rads despite using your tips to balance the rads. Maybe this will help 👍🙏
I dont even have a central heating pump but for some reason I always watch yer vids Al... and on a Friday night i should be having a pint and a box of after eights watching a good movie lol
I have the red Grundfos and have just noticed the speed is set to 3. This was decided (not by me) when our boiler was installed 5 years ago. Would this be why it sounds like it's ticking when running? What would happen if I turned it down to 2? great vid as usual 👍
Can reducing the pump speed solve water hammer issues we're having from the pipe running into the overflow tank every time the heating. It's a kerosene boiler and a gravity fed system. Only started when I upgraded all the old 1970s rads to modern twin walls.
Thank you Al we have just had water coming through the ceiling the flexible . hose broke they are three yrs old they had rust inside . We have just had copper tails fitted i don’t want to go through that again! Insurance job 😆
It wus me haha had a heat pump fitted Proper noisy at night had all the Whiz kids from installers not one of them touched the pump turned it down myself stopped the noise ok but still running away with the money don't get kidded will save you money not a chance have you any advice other than scrap it You still got it thanks for your video seen most of yours Spot on
What is causing this problem : Central heating is not coming on. The boiler is working and I have hot water but the heating is not coming on when I use the thermostat. When I have turned the thermostat up, it clicks on but no heating via radiators. But when the hot water comes on and the thermostat is up, heat comes through the radiators. Very strange. I have checked the control panel in the airing cupboard and the central heating is on, but only when the boiler clicks on for the hot water.
Very good. I have a small bnb and would like to buy a back up pump in case my current one dies so I can replace rapidly. I guess many others may be in a similar situation with rental properties. Can you suggest a good backup? I appreciate there needs to be an assumption around the size of the system. Thanks!
I've mine up at 3 now and still a cold loft radiator with both feeder pipes from the bedroom lower floor feeding it cold. The loft radiator was bled no air it was briefly hot then cold again. Any idea?
Should u turn the heating off b4 changing the setting? Noticed ours is on max setting (not by us so prob always been on 3). How quickly would u notice a difference in sound if I turned it down?
Hi watched a lot of your videos that have helped I have a question on central hearing pumps - my heating pump is continuing running all night when the boiler is not fired up - Scottish Power engineer claims its a thermostatic issue however all my Google searches suggest a PCB issue - whats your thoughts? The pump for the rad switches off when rads at temp
@@dereton33 many thanks my friend - engineer is back Wed and he has not even suggested this - he is claiming the thermost has gone and that this is not covered by my warranty
I want to turn my pump down but it’s got two green push buttons and I’ve no clue which o4 what to press. It’s an Eclipse Universal stamped Embrass Peerless. Do you know how to turn it down?
Hi Al . Does power flush service really work . I have a small house only 6 rads . But they heat isn't getting around them all right.. I've been told I need a new boiler but someone recommended I get a flush service and see if that works ???
Have you tried balancing them? Also it may be the pump try turning it up a notch, if still no luck then go for the flush, they do work but are expensive.
Hi Al i looked at your Amazon shop and need some help selecting auto air bleed vents for rads - the GBP15 Ferro make look a bit more versatile than the GBP14 Aladdin HV30C with the option of using it as a manual air bleed first when refilling the system but wondered what your advice would be please ? Cheers mate thanks for your help and looks like you were a Mod in the 60's ? I'm circa 1953 so remember pea soupers and hurricane lamps on roadside cars over night and getting the refund on empty pop bottles ! ( threepence ? )
Ha ha, seems like just yesterday. Anyway the GBP15 looks a very robust make, although I haven't fitted any. I have had a few failures with Aladdin now so am looking at other makes.
@@dereton33 Ok thanks Al i think that answers it nicely - the GBP15 has the option of manual or automatic so i'll opt for that methinks - if the auto fails there's still the manual option to use ! Cold weather's on it's way according to beeb forecast.I'll use your shop.Cheers Al.
Maybe I should explain a bit more, it’s a 3 zones central heating (megaflow). All motorised valves are working fine as well as micro switches. Heating completely off now but when the hot water valve release the micro switch, boiler stops working but the pump carry’s on for ever. I have searched everywhere but I can’t see any video that show the issue. So really appreciated if you can help. Just need to know which device needs to tell the pump stop working. Thanks again.
Hi Al, thanks for all the videos. Just wondered, do you ever bother adding cleaning chemicals to your central heating system or is regular drain down / inhibit sufficient? Would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks 👍
Hi Al. Im new to the plumbing game but have to do it as I work in accomidation maintenance. Can you tell me does raising the water pressure in a boiler make the water come out hotter? Many thanks
Re grundfos UPS3 PV591428387GB, can understand how to get 1,2,3, but unsure what the setting is that follows, is it auto, when I press for three seconds and get to it, but the green light blinks and doesn't stop. I live in a large bungalow, should l have it on 1,2,or 3 or put it on the blinking mode?? Thanks- if you can help will be great
Hi Dereton, Im a new subscriber. My issue is I recently had a new Grundfos pump fitted and I now hear a gushing or wooshing sound in two of my rads. Im guessing the soeed maybe too high. What do you think? Thanks Mike.
is it dangerous or bad to put on speed 3 or like put between the speeds so half way between 3 and 2? like will it mess anything up in the house or will it cost a lot?

Try switching your 3 way valve to manual, sounds like it`s broken.
