Sorry about the camera angle, the tripod was seriously jammed to the point where you'd just have to settle and I didn't have the right editing software back than.
The Pirates! HD Version that I re-uploaded with my 2nd account "mohsband" has a corrected angle edited w/ FCP. - เพลง
Despues de tanto tiempo lo vuelvo a ver y me emociona
wow....100,000...thats awesome. this is by far the most watched high school marching band video on youtube
I have been watching this program since I was in high school ten years ago. I love it and will always love it. You ARE the best high school music dept. They can talk and cry all they want but they will never have something you will always have. PRIDE!!! They need to be something you already are....PEOPLE!!!!
With pride,
Armando
you guys would thrash the hell out of my humble idaho marching band of 93 people. haha. everything was near flawless. from m&m to cg. pit to battery. wonderful.
color guard feature- running to the next yard line in four counts while doing 2 count moves, astonishing. separation between front and back. the front does some really nice pair work with the rifles. guard file- flag exchange over the rifles, it looks like some CAVALIER GUARD STUFF. real cool. another flag exchange. rifle waves. cartwheels, very unique. more pair work, impressed with those rifles being thrown by the flags. another exhange. really good.
i absolutely loved this show
that one part in the beginning where the flags come out of no where!!! O my gosh that was sooo cool when you see it for the first time.
This was the year that it rained out at Moanalua, and the first time I saw the show was at the first competition.
Hey guys, I heard that they bought this music and it's custom made!!
Fantastic job! I love the sound of the band
Oh damn i wish i could habve marched this year i stay in GPT,MS and katrina did our show in, and we were going to BOA. but this band is huge. great for a High School Marching Band Best i've seen in a while
yay the problem is fixed....can't wait to see this video hit 100,000.
i do give mohs much credit to all of their hard work and dedication yes pchs has been laging around an i cant say i havent been lazy this year but i just give good luck to every1 and hope that they do the best they can from the class of 2010 an mohs has an awsome show
Can't wait to see your exciting show. Mr. Seta is always with you in your heart and mind. I am not from your school but have been a MOANALUA FAN for twelve years. All I can say is don't worry and show everyone what you can do!!! And make them cry when in 2008!!!
good job to gary p. gilroy on composing such an original piece and they are the hosts for the DCI SEMI FINALS. i would love to see other bands play this arrangement. good job to the 2005 Moanalua Menehune Marching Band & Color Guard for all their hardwork and dedication displayed in their shows.
i love how the crowd gets into the performance!... we don't get that for the marching band at my school
this was sick!!! Im in marching band but our band isnt this big and our show isnt as intense as this is yall r amazing!!!
i finally watched this video and wasn't sure what to expect, i assumed that it was going to be not that great but i assumed wrong. what i was most impressed with was the fact that a huge marching band from hawaii could be so much better than most mainland bands. now, i am proud to say that you guys have what it takes to be in those BOA Championships, you guys would shock all them mainlanders, no doubt
okay im commenting again. im definitely still amazed by the visual and guard moves in the third movement (when the right and left side make the little squiggly thing and the guard is in the middle and they throw their flags twice then do cartwheels and the rifles throw SO smoothly) wowowowowow. k sorry, i'm a tad obsessed with this show.
that's exactly what i noticed, devilsbluesnare. i love watchin this video every freakin' day. it never gets old, cuz you always noticed something new everytime you watch it. THIS IS STILL THE NUMBER 1 BAND IN MY LIST OF MARCHING BANDS!!!
I LOVE THIS BAND
wow. that's a huge band. bigger than university of hawaii marching band! that's total dedication.
I played this show! It's our competition show this year. But we have different movements.
WOW!!!!!!!
This is amazing.Music,drill,everything.
How many of y'all is it...y'all are huge!!!!
We have about 200 members so im pretty sure this is about 275-300
I liked the color guard when they were in the lines and tossed their flag or riffle to each other!! I wish I would have been there to see it live, I think its better that way.
cool im in a marching band too we are on the raise like we use to be earlier. when i was a kid
That was just incredible
AW man MOANALUA is always soo good ^_^ good job! im from the Kapolei Marching band! You guys were awesome last year!
Spectacular. Your percussion entrance sounds like ours. Coppell HS Marching Band is pretty good too. [One of the best in TEXAS]
We have 34 winds 8 percussionist 2 majorettes and 13 guard which is 9 more people than last year. Even though we had a big drop from 75 to 48 from 2006 I wish we would grow.
yeah im in colorguard too and this guard is pretty good and i like how the drill involves the colorguard alot also
You guys, no matter what, will always be the best!!!
you guys are the best highschool ive seen so far ive seen alot,,, good job
@cavies alumuni12 part 1 - Hi, name is Mike and I really enjoyed this show. Won't go into my Pre-DCI Drum Corps life. But to let you know, I'm the person that posted all of the Nishihara high Marching band videos. Cause when I 1st saw them I was blown away at their precision drill, horn line and guard. I live in Okinawa and got to meet the band director, Mr. Takaesu. I learned that he is a '96 Cavalier (horn) Alumni.
Ahhhh, I knew I wasn't going crazy. Thanks. Real nice effect.
Really cool drill and huge band. Reminds me of Duncanville HS or Brazoswood, both located in Texas.
three words. HOLY FREAKING CRAP.
i'm in band, THAT just amazed me.
at the end, i feel bad for that kid who had to run like 20 yards in 8 beats. hahahaha =]
SO AWESOME. i'm definitely showing this to my director. inspiring. wowowowow!
our school played this. i was first bass. best show ever!
2nd movement- i recognize this piece from pirates of the caribbean "one last shot" i presume. trumpet solo very rich, with 25+ flutes you can hear them very well. now that's a lot of guard, guard making their entrance, purple flags. routine done with ease. double time marching a slow piece? makes the sets seem cleaner. tubas very dark and rich. cresendo. good job.
2:40 trumpet trio on the 45 yard line west... awesome!
Pretty epic
Can we just have a moment for the poor little guard babies in the front flag feature in the last movement? That drill. I see you literally running a 2.5 to 5 at Mach 10 speed
It's great to see a marching band from the USA...u guys make great music!
great ending. some very nice mallet chops in the pit!
Fresno State Marching Band played this music too in their 2003 show.
WOW...you guys RULE THE WORLD of marching bands. Many congrat to the band director, assistants, and to the enthusiastic students putting unending hours of rehearsal to achieve these few minutes of TOTAL GLORY. (Band/Orchestra director in Mexico City)
i wish i was in a big marching band. it looks fun
Love the flash from what I think is a horn movement at the end of the kick ass drum break. The head of band at my college co-wrote this show and my band that I'm in was the first to perform it. Go Fresno State Bulldog Marching Band!
OMG, awesome show!!
now i've seen many marching bands in person, around the country, seen drum corps live, but after watching this for the first time, you made my top 10 list of marching bands. i've bee a marching spectator/dci enthusiast for years now and i was first introduced to youtube like a few days ago because my friend called me up one day telling me to go to youtube and search "moanalua pirates 2005"
This is amazing! High school kids? Absolutely incredible. They move like a DCI corps! And they sound like one too! The guard--WOW! Fantastic show.
Every competition this band scored a perfect Superior ratings across the board in every category. Im so happy that im apart of this band =)
Tust me, I know how hard it is to do a horn pop and get everyone doing it perfect. Awesome job! Our horn pop was actually a sequence, we had 10 rows and after one row popped the next would and if we didn't do it right it looked like crap.
HOLY SHIT!....you guys are high school band!?
woah!
haha im in a marching band in connecticut. yeah were a class 4 and we kinda only have 70 ppl.
haha.
you guys are pretty sickkk!
and u guys r from hawaii! that makes it even cooler!!! haha.
Damn. I was color guard captain last year... your guard freaking rocks!
I've followed the marching arts (band, drum corps, and winterguard) for about 18 years now....and I'm ashamed to say that I've never heard of this band before. This is a great band. I'll definitely keep my eyes and ears open to see if/when you guys come to the mainland. Great job, guys!
Awesome! The best that I have seen. Very exciting.
Brilliant!!! I don't think our band could ever do that!!! We hardly could sitting down
i'm drummajor for my h.s band...i can't even imagine what it would be like to conduct a band like this. how powerful that would all be coming at you.
congratulations on being such a great band!
Great performance and great drill and great music, man I'm jealous, Kudos from California.
wow this is incredible
Wish you guys could make it to BOA in Indy this year. If your shows is half as good as your 2005, you'd beat Carmel HS, hands down!! Way to take advantage of the whole field, and Guard... you rocked it!! Loved the show!!
pearl city is doing good this year. everything has improved a lot especially your guys attitude. i think pearl city is gunna start becoming the band to be reckoned with again.....lol maybe one day aiea will be up there.......
still one of the best shows ive ever seen
that is some really amazing stuff
this our band's shows for 2012-2013 and we did camelot this year this sounds cool cant wait to play this
i read your comment about this band gettin all superior ratings. i'm very impressed with this band, especially early in this competition season, when they're scorings all 1's. they must be workin really hard, with their marching, music, drumline, and color guard since the judges decided to give them superior ratings. i think this is the band to beat, for those competitors out there. good job btw. i would love to see a video of your 2007 show on here a.s.a.p.
I was a freshman when I saw this band perform. (my band is sitting in the background with the others)
These guys are NUTS!!!!!! Props to you folks
wow thats some awesome effects.. haha
my band is doin this show this year toO!! AHH
SO MANY CLARINETS!
That sends chills down my back. Freaking awesome.
that was amazing!
yeah the trumpet soloist in the beginning spinned it in the air and caught it, and the tuba soloist spinned it on his shoulder.
Absolutely awesome! I've been a marching band fan for over 20 years, and I've rated this one in my top 10!
This is the University of Hawaii "Rainbow" Invitational Marching Band Festival @ The Aloha Stadium held every year in Hawaii. :)
thats pretty crazy, my hs has on of the best marching bands in Northen Virginia and I'm on guard =]
and while on the subject of growing....aiea is getting bunches more people this year....can't wait! although we dont want to just yet, we may end up in AA this year!
being a marching band spectator and having to march in dci myself way back then, i gotta spectate this band so don't hate me if i give you guys some constructive critisim. from what i assume, you guys must be a crowd favorite, after all the crowds cheered for you like more than 10 times.
no.way. that set was AWESOMEEEE. oh but i saw a baton fall. nice.
if you read in the caption to the right, it says that Fresno State performed this in 2003.
what an ending i must say. wth the black flags, the final push towards the ends, the fast pace marching while playing, that big black tarp with the smoke. i actually heard the bells/xylophones doing some really fast runs at the ends. i must say that this show is very exciting, it's a crowd pleaser for sure.
WOW, that was so good! I'm in the guard of my school's marching band. You have so many people in your guard. I love the pirate theme! that was awesome!
That's pretty awesome when a band can take a piece of music that no one really knows and still have a big impact on the audience.
But out of my 4 years marching, I think my fav was the pirates show. :]
i sent youtube an email and they fixed the view count problem.. right now it's at 97,337. thanks.
lol PHEW! thank god. cus if it was what someone told me it was then it wouldve sucked.....i just couldnt believed that you guys wouldve done that show. lol well then whatever your theme is i know you guys will kick ass at it so good luck....can't wait to see everyones shows!
wow my first OIA... that was great ^^ and i think it went well, no one was bashing each other, and everyone was pretty much friendly. you guys are good sports ^^
sorry bout the mistake, you are absolutely right...there were 4- mililani, kamehameha, punahou, and pearl city. btw i like the choice of music you guys choose every year.
amazing, i wish our band was large enough to do that
man, in my high school we did a block formation... lol. the marching band i'm in now a college, would get dogged by you guys... thats crazy.
that was super cool!!!
^^
amazing band!
just posted Moanalua's 2007 marching show. you can view it buy clicking the 1st video in the video responses row. :)
you guys are great, i would like to be in your high school, just that i can't swim all the way to hawaii from cal
sorry about that typo, it's not french horns that's being used on the field, it's mellophones.
the 1st movement was real good. the mello solo was expressed very well. you get that sense of sailing with the waves and stuff and smoke. than a tempo change, the trio played their parts really good. the follow the leader and what i think is a ship on the top was very creative along with the use of the double flags. leaving the boy guards to their sabers.
Thank you for clearing that up for those people. Even if it is (even though I know it won't) "not as good" of a show, I am sure that is will be far better than any of the other shows and for those people who want to criticize just let them do it then laugh in their face when Seta Sensei returns. PRIDE!
Musically yours,
Armando
I played this back in 07 :*( in marching as well as Zorro ugghhh I miss that QQ
WOW! FANTASTIC job! The color guards routine for Search for the Hidden Treasure was great! It's good to see a guard where EVERYONE can use the rifles, sabers, and flags, and not just one person can use this and this person can use that. The tossing from flag to rifle to flag between the guard members was a risky but AWESOME move.
Overall, phenominal performance! I LOVE great marching band shows such as this! X3
~~Bee
*one of the best high school marching bands i've ever seen*
great piece of music. I love the stuff by Dr. Gilroy. Especially "The Sphinx" Another one of his greats preformed by a great band, no doubt!
thanks for crushing my dream :)
I'm a big drumcorps fan (for 18 years now), and this video held my interest. Believe me, that's say a LOT. Drumcorps style drill? Well...maybe circa 1990, no offense, you guys are obviously good. Very strong playing. Congratulations!
Wow.
That is all I can even say.
Wow.
awesome
