Great vid. Had did my hair similar to this yrs ago with a curling iron and loved it but never did it again. I'm thinking about trying it again but with the rollers. Where are those cute earrings from?
+My Natural Sistas I love that style. it seems easier to use those type of rollers than perm rods and flexi rods. THE snap on rollers. Is it the same instructions as it is using perm rollers.
The best way to maintain the style without having to re-roll them is to pin down the curls to your head using bobby pins. It takes a bit of time and practice but the curls should last about 5 days.
Beautiful results! Afro textured hair is sooo versatile. Many women think wearing their natural hair is limiting, but really when you begin to see the benefits i.e. healthier, stronger hair,...styling options, thickness...healthier scalp you will not miss not using a chemical relaxer. Although many of us enjoy treating ourselves at the salon, the joy of having the option of maintaining our own hair is beyond words. Love this vid. Gave it thumbs up.
I Love this hair style! And the way the color on your ends gives it an ombre effect is gorgeous. Tips? Well, I have one but your not going to like it. Add heat. I know that defeats the whole purpose of heatless curls, I know! But hear me out. Just a little heat. Like you sit under the dryer for just 15 to 30 minutes. I don't know why but it just seems to set it & it last longer. And 15 minutes under the dryer isn't ideal but it does kinda beat having to totally redo your hair. When you take it out something to beat humidity is a pomade like product with beeswax in it. It is the strongest I found without going over to silicones-hair sacrilege!!! But NOT A CHEAP ONE! Something like Egyptian Magic (be prepared for MAJOR sticker shock. Remember to breath!) because good quality beeswaxs's I found on my hair washes out with no residue while doing a good job sealing out humidity until then.
It's beeaautiful! I am transitioning (6 months post..Woohoo!) and I do heatless roller sets every week (usually on a Saturday or Sunday) because they are easy and low maintenance. My rollersets last very well for about 3-4 days. By the 5th day there are still curls but I have to use a headband or something to make it look cute. I use Motions Firm-holding wrap lotion on each piece that I wrap around the roller. Some people are against the alcohol in it, but it's what works for me. I think Carol's Daughter has a foaming holding lotion, too. My best rollerset happened just this week, when I let my hair stay rolled up for over 24 hours. The longer you have the hair rolled the better! Sometimes the wrap lotion can make it feel hard and to combat that, I use small amount of shea butter with it, so it holds but isn't crunchy. I've only seen the paper used on really short hair, so maybe you should eliminate that.
My hair is a tiny bit longer and the only way I find that works for me is to sleep with a bonnet and cross my arms on my pillow and sleep with me cheeks resting on my hands and try not to move much. I know that sounds crazy but it works for me. My husband says I remind him of Craig's sister from the movie Friday lol!
It's really beautiful..for a leave in conditioner I use 2 tbsp of organic aloe Vera juice, while leaf, kinky curl knot today detangler, 2 teaspoons of jojoba oil, castor oil, I keep in cold in the fridge until I'm ready and I use 1 part water and aloe vera juice in a slay bottle to wet my hair and it's works wonders for my hair and eliminates frizziness and keeps my hair strong and soft
In order for my roller to stay, I used hair wraps to keep them in place. The same hair wraps that you would use to lay your hair down and go under the dryer with in the salon. With a lace scarf on top of the wraps keeps everything in place, and makes sleeping a lot more comfortable. May not work for everyone but it worked just fine for me. :)
I just did a perm rod set on my hair and the results were beautiful, but at night I didn't know what to do so I pineappled. I made sure the scarf didn't go too high on my head because more curls would flatten if I did that and at the top I put a bonnet over the hanging curls so they wouldn't be all over the place. The next morning I shook it down and it stayed perfectly. As for the third day, I tried that again but apparently I had a hard night lol. Hopefully you find something that works for you !
When I was relaxed, I maintained my curls (using flexi rods & regular rods) for up to two weeks by pin curling my curls using clips. Bobby pins can leave a dent in your curls, but it's a great alternate.
Absolutely amazing results with all the prepping you did! Thanks for the tips on which products to use and how to work them in throughout the hair to uncurl them gently then split the hair up in its natural sections being careful to not over do it so the hair does not frizz. You are a very beautiful young woman that takes a lot of pride and joy in the way you take care of yourself!
Hey Toni, I don't know if someone has already mentioned this, but how to maintain any roller/rod set is to put your hair and pineapple at night. In the event that some of them get smushed...just roll them again as you go to sleep.
beautiful outcome!! This is my go to summer style because of the heat in Nashville, TN. I suggest if you want it to last longer you may want to re -roll every other night with a flexi rod or the rods you used to create your GORGEOUS style!!
I think no matter what you could have done the curls would have fell.. unless you use a hard hard setting lotion. It's probably just your soft hair texture. Beautiful!
Hey. When I do my roller set I use castor oil which helps keeps my hair moist, preventing me from having to reapply anything to my hair before I go to bed. When doing my roller set, I use giovanni leave in conditioner, aloe Vera juice and castor oil. My curls usually last me 2-3 days before they start to drop and turn into a puffy curl. When going to bed I put my hair into a pineapple and that's it. In the morning I just shake out my hair and re fluff if necessary. By the way your hair came out great. :)
You have to go old school and pin curl it up at night and the style will last. You can use large bobbie pins. And use light oil to keep the frizz down.
Very cute. I was skeptical on whether I could achieve this look with my hair texture. But it looks like yours is pretty much the same as mine. I will definitely be doing this over the weekend because my hair is so thick the drying time takes forever.
If you use more oils, leave in conditioner and eliminate the gel, you might have a better day 2. That's my experiences. The gel and mousse make hair crunchier as it dries it out. oily hair holds curls. I always use shea butter and a good hydrating leave in for my wet sets.
I do this with ombre ends and I do a twist roller set on satin covered sponge rollers overnight. It lasts 3 to 4 days. I pineapple all the hair on top of my head with about 5 to 6 bobby pins and a satin cap at night.
wow for a first time your hair turned out really pretty. cant wait to see how to maintain it lol keep the heatless styles coming. you gave me an idea for a wedding. thank you
I know this may be a bit late but i like to use big hair clips to clups the curla together all over my hair however i do sleep on my stomach so its much easier for me
Do pin curls using bobby pins...then take them down & separate in the morning. Make sure u re-moisturize each curl tho with something that does not have a water base. I've been natural for 4 yrs but heat-free for almost 1 year now. I do heat free roller sets from time to time so I'm pretty locked down on this method. I plan to do a video on this sometime soon in addition to my other natural hair videos, but u can take a look at my channel for more natural tips etc... Hope this helps & I love the look! :)
Great tutorial! i will def try it. I have seen people pineapple curls at night (i have done that too with flex rod sets). since your hair is shorter maybe you could try the mini pineapples where you put up the front and then the back
Very Nice....absolutely Gorgeous! Very becoming on you as well as the color in your hair. I plan to try a roller set very soon but I plan to roll mine each night just like I use to do when I had permed hair.
Beautiful curls!! I tried it and mine came out beautiful. Maintaining is the hard part. What to did was re rolled large sections of the curls overnight so my set would last. My curls are only in the front so the hard rollers aren't difficult to sleep in. Maybe the satin covered sponge rollers would be good for maintenance, please Toni, let me know if you try
I love this, How long is your hair? Without the shrinkage because i love the style that length and im afraid my hair might be a little shorter then yours and wont turn out the same 😕
ok i just saw it in the description box. but please let me know the color used on ur hair! and perhaps a tutorial on how u did the color and what product used...thanks so much!
This is cute! I'm going to try it because I want to try something different than the twist-out look. Can you make a tutorial on how to color natural hair?
To help maintain over night get soft Felix rod rollers and roll it up at night. It should last abt 3 to 4 days, if the curls in the back fall just pin it up for a new style
Girl!!! Did you sleep comfortably with those rollers in? If so, how?? I tried to use the soft foam ones so I can sleep good, but my curls didn't come out well.
Lovely as always... I just did my favorite flat twist with a bantu knot, but I may try a roller set later on in the week on stretch hair. I think maybe some flax seed gel with a little glycerin works will in this Houston humidity... I am trying to stay away from product with alcohol in them... I would try pineapple-ing (that may not be a word, but it sho is some ebonics...lol) my hair and with a bonnet, get three days maybe....
I find that when I use Glycerin in Houston humidity, my hair puffs up quicker. What I use for my set is a wrap mousse like Jane Carter Wrap and Roll and Eco Styler Gel -Argan. I have a picture on my Instagram page, DiscoveringNatural
I just went natural about a year ago, & the onlc style that I've done & actually turned out good was bantu knots & that's only b/c I had then in for 2 days, even though they were a tad bit frizzy. My question is ( since out hair is about the same length. What products do you use for shrinkage; b/c the very minute that water hits my hair it shrinks & do you use curl definer if so; please let share with me !! (:
what brand of curl enhancing moose do u use?? please let us know so I can try this beautiful style!! Your hair is very similar to mine so I am thrilled to try ur method...
Hi there my fellow natural! I've been doing this style for the past 3 weeks now and I absolutely love it. I've never colored my hair and I'm dying to know what color you have in your video. For my first time dying my hair, I'd love to rock a fro with this color!! Thanks so much for this gorgeous style :-)
I pin curl the sides and back and re-roll the top and sleep in a silk bonnet. You should be able to get a week out of it. Thats with some variations of the style by the end of the wk of course! The pineappling should work better than the the pin curls i'll try that next time. Good luck!
Thank you, thank you, thank you everyone for the love!
lovelynaturalcurls Thank youuu!
Great vid. Had did my hair similar to this yrs ago with a curling iron and loved it but never did it again. I'm thinking about trying it again but with the rollers. Where are those cute earrings from?
I have a question did you use was paper? And can you use setting lotion instead
***** You look just like Kelis in the "Milkshake" video with this hairstyle.
+My Natural Sistas I love that style. it seems easier to use those type of rollers than perm rods and flexi rods. THE snap on rollers. Is it the same instructions as it is using perm rollers.

It came out really pretty Toni, i love it ! i've been 'planning' to roller set my hair for about 3 years lol my last one was about 6 years ago
***** Thanks girlie! Your hair is amazing. Go ahead and do it, it's gonna be BOMB!
FusionofCultures lol!

lmao im crying..........girl i do that too :')
Honestly that's what I've been doing 😭 I've just gotten accustomed to it at this point
Girl its not crazy I do that all the time! No pain no gain lol!
It's absolutely gorgeous. I'd love to see more heatless curl styles! Natural gray curls!!!!!!
The color made this look even more beautiful! Great job! thanks for sharing

That is GEORGEOUS! Now you're making me want to go dig up my old magnetic rollers!

I used to use these rollers back in the day. I'm going to have to buy me some more. It's been awhile, but old school works
beautiful outcome!! This is my go to summer style because of the heat in Nashville, TN. I suggest if you want it to last longer you may want to re -roll every other night with a flexi rod or the rods you used to create your GORGEOUS style!!
I tried this but didn't have end-paper was a bit frizzy, however i had so much volume. i love the idea. will try it again. ! love the video!
Beautiful! When I do this style again, I'm going to try the gel tip. Thanks Toni
Cute, cute, CUTE! That roller set came out awesome! I love it!
I think no matter what you could have done the curls would have fell.. unless you use a hard hard setting lotion. It's probably just your soft hair texture. Beautiful!
My last roller set didn't come out so nice, so I'll try your tips and see how it goes..thanks bunches :)
literally the cutest thing ever!!! i just started out as a youtube vlogger and you are definitely one of my inspirations :)
I'm about to go home and try this I just bought everything I needed so hopefully it comes out right

I LOVE YOUR CURLS. THEY HAVE ALWAYS MADE ME LOOK AGELESS
very pretty curls. I'm going to try this today. Hopefully it lasts. Thanks for the tips.
I do this with ombre ends and I do a twist roller set on satin covered sponge rollers overnight. It lasts 3 to 4 days. I pineapple all the hair on top of my head with about 5 to 6 bobby pins and a satin cap at night.
Absolutely gorgeous! Question: How would you classify your hair's porosity? Thanks!
I reroll mines with the satin sponge rollers. It helps my curls last.
I suggest putting a light oil or serum on each curl then rolling them on a sponge roller, preferably one with satin, to preserve the rollerset.
Omg!!!! I love this look!!! I have not been natural long and i do not know how to do hair that well but I am going to try this tonight!!!
wow for a first time your hair turned out really pretty. cant wait to see how to maintain it lol keep the heatless styles coming. you gave me an idea for a wedding. thank you
Pretty and you explained it wee what products did you use?
I tried this style and absolutely LOVED the outcome!! Thank you for the inspiration!
Luv this style, I would have never thought to try this...but now I will!!! Thanks Toni
Pretty. Since it didn't lasts the second day- what style did you do the second day? You could always re roll the hair at nite.
I know this may be a bit late but i like to use big hair clips to clups the curla together all over my hair however i do sleep on my stomach so its much easier for me

Thanks for sharing this video with us . What kind of mousse and paper did you use ?
I love this, How long is your hair? Without the shrinkage because i love the style that length and im afraid my hair might be a little shorter then yours and wont turn out the same 😕
Your hair looks great! I usually just put a bonnet on a attempt to sleep "cute" and it usually last a week.
Loved this look!! Will be trying it this weekend
ok i just saw it in the description box. but please let me know the color used on ur hair! and perhaps a tutorial on how u did the color and what product used...thanks so much!
i do little pineapples like at least 3 or 4 it determines how much or full your hair is. I do that and it keeps my hair looking good longer
This is cute! I'm going to try it because I want to try something different than the twist-out look. Can you make a tutorial on how to color natural hair?
Beautiful. What color brand and what color are the tips of your hair?
To help maintain over night get soft Felix rod rollers and roll it up at night. It should last abt 3 to 4 days, if the curls in the back fall just pin it up for a new style
What colour would you describe the red/brown accents in your hair I love it sooo much!!!
Love it, Toni!!!!! I can usually get my curls to last using a satin bonnet, or scarf.
Ebony Clark Thank you sugar!
Sooo pretty! Can I use satin rollers for this hairstyle? So its more comfy to sleep in..
Yes girl, it its absolutely gorgeous. I'd love to see more heatless curl styles!
Girl!!! Did you sleep comfortably with those rollers in? If so, how?? I tried to use the soft foam ones so I can sleep good, but my curls didn't come out well.
So pretty. Do you use the paper so your hair won't stick to the rollers?
Love it...the color is AMAZING with this style!!!!!!
And I love how it was her red hair that was fading out, very pretty

I just went natural about a year ago, & the onlc style that I've done & actually turned out good was bantu knots & that's only b/c I had then in for 2 days, even though they were a tad bit frizzy. BlackBarbie228 I put my hair in 3-4 loose ponytails and I slept in a satin bonnet. I fluffed them out in the morning with my fingers.
I love your hair that color is so pretty thanks so much for the information on how to do these curks
This is so cute. What do you do to it over night so it still looks good the next day?
what brand of curl enhancing moose do u use?? please let us know so I can try this beautiful style!! Your hair is very similar to mine so I am thrilled to try ur method...
This style is gorgeous!!!!!
What method did you use over night that didn't work for you?
Pin curls, but I stretched them too much and too tight with metal hair clamps. I also didn't remoisturize my hair so it was dry.
I'm gonna try doing my roller set tonight. Love your hair. It looks beautiful
Beautiful hair!! What is the color on your ends?
Your hair came out so pretty 😍
That's beautiful! I'll have to try this style!
Pretty. Where did you buy that black detangle comb?
Will be doing this next.. have u tried to pin curling it at night
I loved this style n I will definitely try it out.
Good luck!
I'm so sorry if this is a stupid question, lol but what are the little sheets you are putting on the rollers for?
Love your hair color. Thanks for sharing this video! Definitely helpful.
Pineapple method works for me. Bring the hair forward in a loose ponytail.
Well done. Great videos. What type of hair do you have?
love the results....looks amazing
