- In his senior season at Mesquite High school in Gilbert, AZ, Nate Calmese led his 6th seeded Wildcats to an undefeated in-conference regular season record. In the playoffs, the Wildcats knocked off the 3rd, 2nd and 1st seeded teams to win their first state basketball title in school history. This season, Nate averaged 31.4 points per game, 4.7 assists and 5.5 rebounds as well as surpassing over 1.5 k career points at Mesquite. He is the leading scorer in school history over his 3 varsity seasons. Nate currently has four Division 1 offers.

Damn everytime I watch these videos and eventually she'd a tear. Back in 97' we were a small public school in Ventura county CA. I was a Jr. we were a game short of making it to the state championship game, I averaged 39 points as a Jr and we were the clear favorites to take it in 98' my senior year. D1 offers started flooding the mailbox. I broke my wrist playing on a traveling team that coach had asked me not to play for and please commit to the school team. I showed up the first day of practice with a cast on, coach she'd a tear and told me to exit the gym. That was the last time I played organized ball, I actually walked on to SDSU with coach Fisher in 2001 but ended up in a fist fight with the supposedly star of the team Tony Bland the very first day of practice, I guess he wasn't too fond of anyone walking on and then shut him down and get lit up for 11 straight so they were so worried that decided to drop out of school shortly after walking on the team and that was truly the last time I picked up a basketball. Now I'm only 6'1 but you wanna talk about a jumper that never missed, that was me. I still always wondered where I'd be right now if I never broke my wrist.. Oh yeah, that year in 98' that we were supposed to be heavy favorites to make state... School ended with a losing record and didn't even make CIF. TH-cam wasn't around back then and I'm kinda glad it wasn't. I averaged 39 easy my Jr that my plan was to average at least 50points a game my sr year
