As a Toronto supporter you are talking sense regarding play off success. In Toronto the lack lustering results in post seasons cannot and shouldnt be attached to Keefe alone, but he wasn´t the solution so he was let go. But it will be interesting to see what Keefe can do with the Devils.

Toronto came up against some monsters in the 5 years Keefe was their head coach in the playoffs and people tend to ignore or forget that. It's not as if they made the playoffs and then got their guts stomped out, and that's without a top tier goalie and a weaker defense than they needed (same issue NJ needs to address). With a second team, he can take what he learned in Toronto and use it to make the Devils a better team. What I also like is that he's a young guy and not another senior citizen coaching the same styles as 20-30 years ago. Keefe is more in touch with today's NHL play style and that's an intangible that works in his favor.
Keefe isn't THE fix in NJ, but he is a key piece in that fix. It's up to Fitz to find the right goalie, defenseman, and bottom 6 forward to round out the team. Easier said than done, but there are players that can fill these roles that will be available.

Yes and the cost. Remember Barry Trotz is holding a huge random for Saros. “Big Game hunting” for a goalie.

I'm guessing the same people who said Lindy Ruff can't hold players accountable still can't figure out why he wasn't playing Alex Holtz more.

The Sevils lack grit. Fitz has to address that if this team is to go anywhere. Brady T would be awesome on the Devils.

New subscriber. I'd much rather watch the Devils than watching the Canadian fraud that is the Maple Leafs. Let's hope next season is a better one.

The Devils are not fixed until they get a Markstrom/Ullmark level goalie in the net.

Here’s the problem with Keefe. He’s a great regular season coach. He will do whatever it takes to win the game that night. The problem with that is he won’t use the regular season to prepare for the playoffs and will allow the team to play styles that are not going to work in the playoffs and then try to change their style when the playoffs start and they make little mistakes in key moments as they’re not used to that style.

You can’t say that because playoffs differ every year. You can’t make solid predictions without more information. Teams change, players change. Your statement is to general.

Sheldon Keefe gets comfortable with his style while it works, then He keeps juggling lines until later into the season. When the playoffs came to. He had no concrete special teams and the same dump in puck plays to the opposing team. The leafs were predictable.

You should do research into Sheldon keefe playing ramus sandin in game 5 of the Montreal series which was the deciding decision that lost the leafs the series and that’s all on Keefe and he’s had some horrible power plays and PKs in the playoffs which are mostly on the coach

Keefe cannot motivate. Cannot get his teams to beat the lesser lights of the NHL. He calls out players and then walks it back. Good luck

No it does not. Fitzy is still the problem, dudes gonna overpay for markstrom and have that 6m for no reason, dude not worth a first even with retain. its ECF or bust. Fitzy last year as GM Madigan get ready to take over for the Clueless one. Fitzty and keefe need to fire Taylor and Goalie coach but Fitzy is a soft asf dudes too scared to give the same treatment to Luke or Mercer as he did with holtz even tho Holtz had like 3 less points and 7 less mins than mercer at the time of his hissy fit on holtz. They need some Size, Top 6 LW/C -Neca,Bennett, Chandler etc, a bruiser LD(dillon, zadorov, hague,Mcnabb), some greasy, gritty FWD and not overpaying for a goalie( Ullmark or Gust are the goalies not Markstrom )
