Livin my dream . Kickass lifestyle ! I’m working towards where you n ya family are . Send my best wishes for yaw !
I'm 71. Lived in Louisiana all my life.
I've always wondered how that was done. Thank you for a great video
That’s one way of a few. I used to do it also an always enjoyed to. I did it with butterfly skimmers. Looks like the boat has wings with the nets on that lower on each side. Big difference is when the pocket of the net comes up to be emptied. The boat keeps moving and the catching part of the net stays in the water. Only part comes in is the very tail to be emptied. So while that’s being done. An the stuff not wanted is being picked out. You’re still catching. So bytime your done a getting it in chest. It’s time to pull it back onboard and empty an repeat. More work picking since it’s constantly catching. That way is just more work overall. But used to make sure to catch enough to sell to pay for time fuel a fill my freezer completely a give family a friends a little extra. But got to busy overtime an took it off the boat an sold it unfortunately. Good times though
We have enough fresh shrimp in Louisiana waters but too many restaurants in the state continue to purchase imported shrimp. We should All Boycott these establishments especially those along the southern coast. Sorry, but I had to get that out!🇺🇸
Been doing that forever. If it’s not local to us. It just isn’t the same. Same with the packs of crawfish tails if I don’t feel like peeling for a dish. I’ll go without before buying that Chinese crawfish. Don’t know who buys restaurant food and pays into any other subpar product
Boycott no we need to petition the politicians to make it illegal to sell imported seafood!
That sounds like a great idea! Propose this to your state legislators. If that goes nowhere start a petition. See if you can get a referendum on the ballot..

I appreciate your explanation of how the trawl-net works. I googled shrimp nutrition during this video and am happy to learn that they are good for health.
That's awesome fun right there. Dad took us on 2 to 3 trips every season back in the 70's. Same set up with a 16 footer. The fresh fried shrimp mom would make were second to none. Great memories for your family. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Joey! Great video! That's what I call an awesome day! Loading up on shrimp, beautiful weather, and good company. 🦐🦐🦐

Thanks for taking me along Joey! I used to drag for shrimp with my best friend before I had a stroke and now I'm not able to but you brought back a lot of great memories! great video!
Glad to bring back those memories. Thanks for watching, it was a lot of fun!
From Colorado! Can't wait to come join one of your Rally's when we move closer!
Shrimp looks great. Save some of the bycatch for bait if you can.
I like how you focus on the by caught first. Helps keep nature in balance.❤
Great video!!! Brings me back when I spent the weekend with my grandpa trolling and a young teenager. Great times!!
Enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing your videos with us. We were in that Lake this past weekend and caught some nice Shrimp. Gotta Love Louisiana. Looking forward to your next video. 👍👍
Now that was some good grocery shopping. Can’t wait maybe I’ll be able to make the August season. You and your family be safe out there catch y’all later👍✌️🛥🎣
When I was a young lad, my Dad taught me a valuable lesson. Look for a gal that's not afraid to get dirty, and by that he meant the kind of gal that you could go fishing with, hunting with, or even working in the garden with, because when you are doing it together it's noy like one of you is working and the other isn't, it becomes you both are livin' it together the way the Good Lord intended. He also said, if a girl has long painted nails and always smells like flowers then the only thing she will ever be good for is being pretty, and you put pretty things away because they will either break real easy or they will make you go broke. Keep doin' what you are doin'. You are on the right path in life!
Love it! Your dad sounds just like mine! ♥️🙏🏼🇺🇲
Mine told me "Before you marry a girl, look at her mother, she will be just like her" I didn't listen. Now I have 8 more years on my sentence with the devil incarnate until my son is an adult.
it's awesome my mom said the same thing before i had a girlfriend
Fantastic video
I’m from. NYC. This is must see tv!
Thanks for the fishing lesson! Well done video. Y’all know how to fish down south. And eat 😎
Seeing all those shrimp makes me think of Bubba Gump!❤
Great footage and creative shots Joey! Really enjoyed the video. My son and I took a trip out of Cocodrie for the start of the season. That will be our video this week as well. Here's hoping it does at least half as well as yours. Keep up the great work!
Thank you. I will have to check that video out!
That's some good looking shrimp ./Y'all living the good life
This was the coolest video! I had no idea a flat bottom could be used to trawl for shrimp.
Keep it up. I kno it’s hard but keeep it up
Definitely miss doing that. Used to do it with skimmers but got to busy an ended up selling it but kept the boat. Good times. May have to have another one made to do it again
Good catch. Keep up the great work. I believe I’m fixing to get me about a hundred pounds are more for my freezer
That’s in-off shrimp for the year for my family, I love going down to Louisiana to fish.
Love soft shell crab. I found out about them when I was in the Army stationed in Maryland. Aberdeen Proving Grounds.
I'm looking at all that excellent bait you're throwing back in! Those baby croakers are used by lots of fishermen for trout and reds! They're great for flounder as well! When I lived on Galveston Bay I had a couple of friends that used try nets to get personal shrimp and they'd save me the croakers and squid for bait. It beats the hell out of buying them at bait shops!
Awesome video. Love your channel.
I'm retired from the oil fields for 10 years, but looking around your video, is that Terrebonne Bay you're dragging? I worked for Murphy's out of Dulac many Decades ago.. I grew up on the eastern end, Venice, lol Grew up Trawling there.
This is really cool.
Your gonna make me drag out my trawl and go lol!! Looked awesome! Trawling is so much fun! Great video! New Subscriber from South East Louisiana!
Never been shrimping. Nice video
Another great video! Keep at it.
luv that start music !!
cajun shrimp boil yum...drag er in the nets are full
i had deep fried softshell crab burgers in maryland and they are yummy
Look like Boudereaux’s Marina down Four Point Rd. That crab patty and the shrimp patty sandwich with the onion rings at Ceana’s is on point. We are at Southern Comfort
Nice catch I haven't been shrimping in a while watching you reminds me of all the work involved lol 😂 keep putting out them video's
Nice catch!
i enjoyed this video ive got a new trawl set up but never put it behind my boat dont know the first thing about shrimping it was an impulse buy to go shrimping with my son. Any videos you have or information you have would be greatly appreciated.
hope yall invest in a winch to help yall pull up the lines so it can be easy
Nice catch! How long were your lines on the 16 foot Trawl? Approximately how deep are you fishing in?
Like 4-6 ft deep. I’ll have to ask my dad how long the ropes are though
Get em girl show em how it’s done here in the boot
Ask dad if he needs a son-in-law 😂
Straight from the water into our belly.
Awesome drag
Hey who is your fishing buddy
Are yall catching for your freezer ?
Was this Grand Isle ? Ned a platform on back of that boat for the boards to sit on , tickle chain nice
I like your office 😅
Great video as always! What size boards do y’all have one the 16ft looking into getting one ?
Ours are 30 inches long
Thank you and do you kno how long the rope is 100ft ?
Y’all ever make sea spiders with the heads, would be a great video to show them how to eat it all, Geaux Tigers 🐅
Great idea!
I did pretty good to on opening day in back of Montegut
Girl friend you hands had to be tore up not using gloves ... Good catch . You all commercial or for family and friends . What is that about a 16 foot troll ? Terrebonne Bay ??
Hey Cajun Girl, What area do you hail from? I'm from da Westbank and remember going with my Dad when I was a young teen. I used to throw dem boards out & gather them in, but l love Picking da best!! Bust dem Crabs CG, when you're running those traps. Enjoy.❣
Well..::: now I’ve got to go fix up my old trawl
Ol Robinson canal
♥
Do it like dat in dulac
Do you guys sell some of those shrimp, or do you freeze them ?
@@BR7Fan71 We freeze them and share with friends/ family!
Flat lander here, do you need a commercial license to trawl? Or a normal state issued license. Damn that looks fun & can only imagine how the eatin is gonna be fire
Only need a commercial license if you’re selling shrimp , with a 16’ license your allowed 100 pounds of shrimp and there’s one that’s a little more expensive for bigger trawls also
What’s the price of shrimp going for in your area of Louisiana?? That’s cool that y’all net y’all’s own.. eating off the land /water..
Fresh shrimp is about 3-5 dollar a pound right now
Holy by-catch…
Is that salt water you shrimping in?
Yes
And I have another question how fast to pull it ?
We pull ours 1800 rpms in our boat
Thoes are some big shrimp
Eat dem soft shell crabs
Dey were the best I ever ate
what do you do with the shrimp next?
where in Louisiana are you shrimping at.
Cocodrie
Need some fresh shrimp where can I pick them up?
Mais dat's a lot of shrimp to put up. Ya'll head 'em right?
Mais Yah Che, fingers look like prunes after. No waste.
Why don't you work faster to release those live fish, I'm sure they are not all trash fsh?
Where did y'all get your net from and did it come rigged ready to go or did y'all have to modify it any Info please ?
I actually made it using an old trawl as a pattern it’s plastic webbing 1-1/2 mesh had to add more chain to the bottom rope because the plastic is lighter in the water than the old one
@@mudweimer768 that's awsome looks like it works good for sure y'all gotten . Thanks for responding
HOW FAST DO YOU DRIVE GRTEAT JOB
Not fast at all, just enough to keep the trawl moving
Should have a water tank so u domt kill all the bycatch fish
those shrimp look nasty ill take our pnw spot shrimp all day over those ugly mud bugs lol
Fake , video not real
Awesome catch. I’d love to go do that with you.
Thank you Joey for bringing us along with you and your family, it reminds me of my youth and all the bountiful seafood we have access to for those true Louisiana families. You and yours are a true Blessing, Love your content, looking forward to your next adventure.

Bringing back memories from 40 years ago using 35’ net with aluminum boards loving south Louisiana
Awesome. Been shrimpin with my uncle here in NC on the intercostal waterway. Need to get myself a trawl and try my hand at it. Keep up the good work! 👍💪💯
