Timothy Simons did an absolutely amazing job as The Eagle. He made the character so much more empathetic and gave it so much dimension, he should be really proud of his work!
these people are such great images of the characters. however Denny love is the absolute perfect colonel and I am so fucking happy about his casting, he sounds like him, he looks like him, he feels like him.
I couldn't agree more. I haven't read the book in a couple of years, and when I started the show I first went "Huh, this isn't really how I pictured the colonel", but I'm re-reading the book now, and just realizing more and more how absolutely perfect he was for this part. Such a joy to watch his journey on the show
Watching the "if people were rain, I was drizzle and she was a hurricane" actually happen on screen TORE my heart out. I forgot how beautiful this story is because I haven't read it in years and I'm so grateful it was made with such care.
Just finished the series last night and let me tell you, from “Can we please wait Alaska isnt here yet” I was bawling my damn eyes out till the ending of the last episode
Honestly, as much as I hated the eagles the book, he might be one of my favorite characters in the show. He was so amazingly written and to see him from an out side POV was really cool. Such an amazing book turned into an amazing show. I said earlier actually, I read this book 7 years ago and it’s kind of interesting that I read it so blindly like ok that was a good book but now 7 years later it hits so close to home for me.
Looking for Alaska was one of my favourite books when I was a teenager. I can confidently say that this is my favourite adaptation of any book I've read. It was perfect and the casting was spot on for all of the characters. Denny Love was SO GOOD as the Colonel. I finished watching this yesterday and I've never felt SO happy yet SO sad from watching a show. I wish I could erase it from memory and watch it for the first time again.
I read this book years ago so I can't tell you if the series followed it to a T but I can say is that watching this series made me feel exactly how reading this book did and that in and of itself is an astounding feat.
This show was weird but very intriguing once I watched half of the episodes I was completely determined to finish. I fell in love with Alaska she's so beautiful and wonderful Kristine was perfect. It really did make me wish I was apart of a group like that. The acting was good. I am so happy they made this a series because i'm not much of a reader but am glad I experienced this series. Wish there was a few more episodes before she died.
Anastasia Roe even if people find out certain plot points in a story, it’s better to know the entire series of events, I don’t really believe in that stuff, like the story doesn’t change whether you know it or not. I’m just more analytical when it comes to stories and art
Awesome. Can these guys do Paper Towns now? Like I've said before, while the movie captured the events of the book, it failed to capture its essence. Looking for Alaska has done both, and I think Paper Towns (and most books in general) would work better as limited series adaptations, as opposed to movie adaptations.
Agreed. they really dropped the ball with "Paper Towns" The ending derailed and completely missed the whole point of the book, as an antithesis to the "Manic Pixie Dream Girl" trope.
I personally love Paper Towns the movie but after watching Looking For Alaska, i'm agree that i feel like Paper Towns will work better in a limited series like LFA is
*every episode was amazing* ! :) It made me want to go back to that age... those kinds of friendships and life questions yet to be answered. feeling free and young but still a person full of heart and brain. This series showed that very well !
I thought it was a pretty good adaptation. The way Chip and Miles deal with their grief was pretty moving and realistic. My favorite part was Dr. Hyde coming to visit Chip at his home. I feel like I want to watch the series a second time
Takumis drip is one of my very favorite parts lol. I cant explain how much this book and now this show mean to me. They did such an incredible job embodying it. And I almost never say that about film adaptations
This is a really great show. I had signed up for a free trial on Hulu, found this series, and watched the whole Season. Hope they find a way to make another season with these brilliant actors. Great stuff, great story and really, really great photography. Got to add that I really love the gentleman who plays Dr. Hyde - brilliant acting.
I read this book in high school and I had been waiting for it to be a movie for YEARS. I was so excited when they decided on a TV show instead, knowing it would better capture the book since it would be longer. This show was absolutely everything I had hoped it would be and more. The cast was fantastic and they really brought the story to life. I am so incredibly happy that this finally happened. I laughed a lot, I cried even more, but it made my heart feel whole. I love John Green and the stories that he tells, and this was by far my favorite. I was so worried I would be disappointed because I had waited for so long, but I couldn't have been more wrong. This is the best adaptation of any book I have ever read. ♥♥
I read this book in middle school and it kept a special place in my bookshelf, one day someone asked to borrow it and it took a lot of strength for me to hand over it, I had written so many notes in it touched the pages multiple times. Of course the person never gave it back and it felt like part of me was missing, sure I could get. anew copy or google the quotes in the book. but it was genuinely such a big part of my middle school years
On all of the great lines: I love that they kept so many in! I may even say they could have left some more out, but I understand that the balance is difficult and the show is amazing
I really liked the soundtrack. But I didn’t expect any less after The O.C. and Gossip Girl. I actually love that Miles and Lara watch the O.C. together in one episode 😄
When the Eagle first showed up on screen I was like who is this, thats not at all what he was like, but as the show went on it was clearly the right choice. Timothy Simmons was amazing
I think that's sort of the beauty of an adaption isn't it? You get to read the same story in a new way. They aren't making the novel, John already did that, they're making a new story from it. I'd say it's always worth the chance to see something brilliant
Annie Rebecca hey annie. thank you for this. i’m certainly going to watch it today, you’re completely correct. such a beautiful concept to watch people conceptualize johns story into what they saw while reading and put that up against what i saw while reading. ty for this! have a beautiful day
I haven't read the book but enjoyed the series. The Alaska character was perfectly cast. Here's my one problem with the story. There's no way the prettiest girl in school would be ostracized like that, or hang out with the "misfits". That just didn't ring true with the high school experience.
@@lou_jane and she still was semi friendly with some of the girls. Her roommate before and her roommates boyfriend. It went to hell after someone 'ratted'
I think it's kinda sad they made it into a series and not a movie. Now they can drag the story as long as it's profitable instead of having the pressure of 2.5 hours to tell a real and impactful story.
Sucks to say but Alaskas casting was the least satisfying for me. She’s a great actress, just doesn’t feel like Alaska to me. Colonel is on point though!

i really appreciate how the directors and producers kept it in the 2000s and not making it a modern one
Honestly, I don't think a lot would've changed if the story would've taken place in 2019.
i know right
2005 wasn't even that long ago, not too much has changed really
@@Hellsing7747 I do, I Feel like it needed to be based in 2005
@@Hellsing7747 everyone would have iphones. that creates some plot holes
the casting for Alaska's role was called
*"LOOKING FOR ALASKA"*
The show was incredible. Great acting and the characters were incredibly fleshed out, especially for 8 episodes.
Ehh, only Colonel stood out, Pudge aka Miles was bad, and Alaska could have been more badass but not bad
I enjoyed it, I hope to see all these kids in future films and series. I thought they all did a great job. They all seemed like they had fun
@@KillerRem not really he played his part perfectly in my opinion and so did Alaska.

The colonel is so different from how I imagined him, but reflecting on it, they obviously captured how he was written very well...

He is like Ron & Hermione had a Boy, but he Also Resembles Jamie Campbell Bower ( young Grindelwald in OG Harry potter films)
