Thanks for the video. Now I know what the climb in the dome is like (only used the elevator). I took 2 group tours - one for just the Basilica and dome, the second for the Vatican Museums. I wouldn't really recommend at least the Vatican Museums tour as there is no advantage (in terms of beating the crowds) even if you pick the earliest time slot. You also get to properly view no more than 10 to 12 exhibits as the guide has to rush you through the various rooms (the guide also finally just led us to the Basilica without asking if we wanted to stay behind in the museums). If I get to return, it's going to be DIY for the museums, with a full day spent there. Sorry for rant. 😆
Oh, that climb of the dome was a mini adventure on its own! 😄 Now that I’ve already been there I would definitely go on my own next time and don’t waste time with the tour guides in the museums - it’s a constant rush and yes, we didn’t get see everything. However for a first time visit I think it’s okay to take a guide so you can understand a bit of what is there. The only advantage was we got to go straight in the museum without waiting in the line with the other people, who only have a ticket on their own. 😄
Yes, after I heard them saying no photos, I stopped filming 🙂 I was curious why and afterwards I researched why it is forbidden and found out because of people using the flashlights of their cameras, which damages the paintings. And as I am not using flash, I think I didn’t cause any harm with the many other people who actually film inside 😌
I believe the fact that the chapel is constantly open to visitors, multi millions a year, is in itself detrimental to the frescoes. The huge amount of humidity generated by people, the constant lighting all damage the art.

It is forbidden to photograph or video within the cappella.
Thank you for your disrespect.
