It's funny that it looks so easy and simple in your video. Yet, when I was there, I was coming at it from a different angle. And I got totally lost. I arrived on the shuttle bus in the parking area for the GoKL free buses (on the other side of the highway). And then I had to get from there to the MRT station. And it was super confusing. I had no idea how to get across that 8-lane highway. And even when I finally figured it out, I didn't really have a clear idea of where I was. I saw all kinds of signs pointing to the LRT station and the Monorail station. But I didn't see any signs pointing to the MRT station. I ended up just taking some stairs down until I exited the whole system and was outside on the sidewalks, and then I walked around until I saw the brand new MRT building, and I figured that had to be it. I guess when that Exit C is completed, everything will be a lot easier. I assume that will lead to a tunnel that goes underneath the highway system and pops up at the MRT station directly. Watching your video, I also thought about my pet peeve with the transit system in Kuala Lumpur. And my pet peeve, as you know, is how the MRT and LRT lines don't have clear names. I'm always confused by that. All the signs and maps that you pointed out along the way referred to "LRT Titiwangsa" and "MRT Titwangsa" and "Monorel Titiwangsa". But that doesn't really help me. I already know that I'm at Titiwangsa station. What I need to know as a visitor is which LRT line it is and which MRT line it is. None of the signs actually specify which of the MRT and LRT lines go through the Titiwangsa station. As a local person, you know that the LRT line there is the Ampang line. But I don't know that as a visitor. And, of course, I don't even like the name Ampang line, because that refers only to the trains on that line going in the direction of Ampang. On the same line going in the other direction, the entire LRT line often has a different name. I think it's often called the Sentul Timur line. So every MRT line and LRT line has two different names depending on the destination station. And I always find that confusing. And as I've mentioned before, even those names get changed whenever the line is extended and it has a new destination station. I think the Sri Petaling line is now the Putra Heights line because it was extended, and that ends up confusing me. You could walk through that entire complex and read all the signs, and at the end of it, you still wouldn't even know that this was the Putrajaya MRT line. That's never mentioned in the signs and maps that I was able to see. Same thing for the LRT line. You'd never know that it was the Ampang LRT line (or the Sentul Timur LRT line). You kind of have to know that yourself. I noticed that when you took the walkway to the LRT line, you ended up on one side of the tracks. I don't know if that was the Ampang platform or the Sentul Timur platform. But I was wondering how you would get to the other side. There didn't seem to be an obvious direction to go. I assume there was a set of stairs and a tunnel you'd have to follow to go down and then pop up on the other side.
Yes I concur with you that it can be quite confusing, especially for foreigners. It would seem that they assume commuters will know in advance before arriving at the station, which line is this station on and where they want to go. To be fair, most of the MRT stations I do see a map of the entire Putrajaya Line so I guess if someone sees this, they will know for sure they are on the MRT Putrajaya Line for example. In my video, I shot it with commuters traveling from one train and heading to another but never thought of those arriving directly at the station either by walking, Grab or bus. Also as mentioned to you when we last met, if you look at the station ID (can be seen at 7:51 as example), you can get an idea of the line you are on. So in the 7:51 case, SP3 Titiwangsa stands for Sri Petaling Line (SP).
I visited KL for the first time in nearly 20 years in February. Took a few short trips on the (LRT?) from KL Sentral. I appreciated the ease and efficiency of the network.
the titiwangsa mrt station was previously the pekeliling flats which were infamous for their insecurities before the demolition in 2014. this is the place where i worked in building tunnels to the north portal in jalan ipoh during its construction period. of course, i faced several challenges during my work tenure there including lim guang eng's cost-cutting measures and the covid pandemic.
Thanks for sharing Yong and in your own way, you've contributed to this amazing station that will ease the lives of many many Malaysians for decades to come so Thank you!
I think this Titiwangsa MRT station line is good interchange for those from TBS wanting to go to Kepong area by train. (e.g LRT to MRT). Thanks for sharing your video Bro!
The last time I took a monorail was at Bukit Bintang almost 8 years ago, and recently from KLIA1 to KLIA2. The MRT system in KL looks like improving a lot. 👍
Hi Daryl. I'm looking forward to getting back to KL to test out the Putrajaya line. It's looks great. I was saddened to hear that parts of the LRT (Sri Petaling?) are closed due to the damaged column. Nothing about that is sounding good. If the column has to be replaced then I'm afraid that section of the LRT will be closed for some time.
Yes pls come back soon and let's catch up :) The new Putrajaya line is really nice and I'm going to try taking it all the way to Putrajaya Sentral and change to KLIA Experess to head to KLIA2 this weekend. As for the Sri Petaling/Ampang LRT Line, hope they will get it back sooner rather than later as I am sure it is disrupting to quite a number of people using that route everyday.
Hi Tan.. its quite easy from Titiwangsa actually. Take this route: 1] Take the Titiwangsa LRT 2] Get off at Plaza Rakyat Station 3] Walk towards Merdeka MRT Station (fully covered underground walk way) 4] Board the MRT towards Kajang Whole trip should cost you around RM4.20 with TnGo
@@shtan9644 sadly none at all which is such a waste for such a big station with 3 lines (LRT, MRT and Monorial). There are paid ones further down the inside road but that is quite a distance to walk,
Thanks for the video. It is precise and clear explained. Is the monorail free? If I am taking monorail from Titiwangsa to concorde, just get off at Bukit Nanas, right? Any platform to choose?
Hi Wei Suan.. sadly no, the monorail is paid as well but you can switch between monorail, lrt and mrt without tagging out until you reach your destination. Yes Bkt Nanas station is the closest to Concorde Hotel and you don't have to worry once you board the monorail at Titiwangsa.. its direct to Bkt Nanas Station. Safe travels Wei Suan!
Yes there will be and I did mention it in the video that it is currently still closed for construction. Sadly I did not see a way to cross the road at this time. If you do find out, please do share here for the community. Thanks so much and happy travels Jeff!
I heard that there was a service disruption on the Ampang line by the Bandaraya lrt station. Is that still the case? Heard you have to take a connecting bus service?
Yes sadly as RapidKL announced that they estimate it will only be fixed by Feb 29 next year so for now, the shuttle service between the 2 stations will be the only option. That being said and to their credit, they do provide a lot of buses so the waiting time is not too long.
@@WanderEats I see. Well that’s good. Just as well the mrt at Tituwangsa is up and Wangsa Maju is still an option for me. Thank you for replying. Your video is much appreciated. Subscribed 😊
I live in Titiwangsa Sentral and literally can just walk 2 minutes to the MRT. While it is great that Titiwangsa is becoming sort of like the 2nd KL Sentral. I find it disappointing that Pekeliling area feels like a zombie town. It's full of trash, there are quite a number of homeless people with drug problems, there were several murder here around the past few years. The problem I have with DBKL is if you want to build something grand, make sure everything about that place is grand. You want to turn Pekeliling into a high density residential area where public transport connectivity is within walking distance which is great but don't give half hearted effort. If you let the place become trashy and dangerous, even if you built all those high rise apartments it will be useless. Because nobody is going to live there
Thanks for sharing and I saw the Gate A which is towards the Pekeliling are was closed off but thought they had plans to really make it brand new which I still hope and pray that they do. Sad to hear of the current condition I must say as I had family members staying at those Pekeliling flats back in the day.
