    An extra fast skullspore at the end just felt dirty, especially after you realized how much work the "Whatever" 1-4 white cards do in most every deck :p

    I have been enjoying sealed in this format a lot more than draft but if your pool is that bad then its not all that enjoyable either

    This format has so many bombs that just end the game. I hope they stop this design for the next sets.

      It's one of the most unfun formats in recent memory, worse than MOM for me.

      Nah, Wizards have said that newer players loooove cards like that and considering new players are kind of the main lifeblood, game ending bombs are here to stay.

      Games feel so scripted when OP plays one card that's unbeatable and ends the game

      They really really need to redesign this especially with play boosters coming and therefore more rares in drafts in general. If they will have as many bombs as lci ravnica remastered will be horrible

    What is a hand smoother?

    • @Vinicius-hl8lr
      @Vinicius-hl8lr ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know in detail how it works, but in the MTG arena BO1, arena will open two hands and present you the best ratio of lands and spells. This way it avoids mulligans

    • @Arghore
      @Arghore ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's some sort of crème you put on your hands and it makes them smooth...

  • @glmcg132
    @glmcg132 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Cards that just simply win the game when you play them are stupid in limited

  • @Arghore
    @Arghore ปีที่แล้ว

    Bad pools and some unlucky draws again, loosing with 2 lands in hand just feels extra bad...

  • @haileydee9954
    @haileydee9954 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    so why is the hand smoother so detrimental in best of one? Isn't it supposed to make the games better?

    • @lockjaw00
      @lockjaw00 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Because there's so many cheap creatures that have such a big impact on the game from turn 1 in this format. The hand smoother makes it much more likely that you'll have them consistently, so it really skews the odds based on who goes first

    • @vinni522
      @vinni522 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I believe the previous answer is incomplete. The smoothing algorithm (afaik) promotes your chance of getting the “average” number of lands. Smoothing only happens for initial 7.
      A. 1/2 color decks benefit more because colors are not considered. (Neither are ramp spells like talismans)
      B. decks benefit more if it is looking for just spell quantity and not specific spells.
      Both qualities promote linear aggressive strategies where the dorks are basically interchangeable.

    • @vinni522
      @vinni522 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Example:
      17 lands >> 2-4 lands @99+%
      16 lands >> 2-4 lands @95+%
      For aggro decks that’s just wonderful.
      For control / combo decks imagine this.
      #1: 2land, 2talisman, 3removal
      #2: 3land, 4 expensive 6drops
      #3: 4lands, 3 removals
      #4: 5lands, flash, hulk
      Hand smoother would choose the worst hand (#2) over the others. Because control/combo care a lot more about “what spell” as compared to “how many spells”, they don’t benefit from hand smoother as much.

    • @vinni522
      @vinni522 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A fairer way to do this would just show the player… here are the random two hands we got, you choose one. The current method works fine for Wizards though, promotes faster game, more $$$.
      Note: last know info was… smoothing works by having two copies of the deck and drawing random 7 from each… then choose the hand with land count closer to actual land distribution of the deck.

      @@vinni522 They should just give you the option to free mulligan. That would be easier to implement. However simply removing it would be my choice. R&D isn't designing sets with the hand smoother in mind. Having BO3 and BO1 being almost different formats because of it feels ridiculous.

      Well yes because each time you see it opponent got to play it. Some of the games where you steamrolled the green opponent they might have had it in hand and were unable to cast it. According to data it is on the same level as Respledent Agent or Quintorius so amazing, but Aclazotz and Dracosaur are still in a different tier.

    • @thelifedragon2156

      @@MarvelOfRain sure, but the card gets easier to cast with big creatures. dracosaur and aclazorz are great because they are big problematic flyers. that great but still not as hard to beat in my experience, on both sides of the table
