Now THAT is the entire point of the story. When you're a teenager, you don't know what you're getting into. These girls (with the exception of two of them) had to grow up so quickly so they could support their kids, and also, look at the effect that some of the kids have when they're constantly going from house to house to be with Mum during a specific set of time, and dad (stepdad) for another time. Sure, the mums on the show are missing their children, but think about the impact it has on the kids. It can't be easy on them either, and sometimes it shows in their behavior when they go back to their primary homes. :(

I often ask myself if there was no show, what would any of these people be doing today? Which ones made the most of this experience and which ones squandered it? Which ones are financially stable, got an education and are good parents? which ones spent it on plastic surgery, hair and makeup, vacations and drugs? (including gym memberships and steroids) The money from the show in some cases has just made lives worse, created addiction problems, gotten them deeper in debt.

It would massively effect her if she didn't have Cole. It will still effect her. But Cole's presence will outshine Adam's absence. The sad part for Adam, but good part for her is she won't see it as a lack. She won't see it as "my dad wasn't there", she will see it as "Cole was". At least that's how it often goes in those situations. A small part of her will mourn for that lost time but the majority will perceive it as "Cole was there", not that Adam wasn't, if that makes sense.

I was in nearly the exact situation growing up as Aubree except my dad didn't have a drug problem...just a shitty parent. I stopped talking to him when I was 12 and to this day the only time I think about him is when I talk to my grandmother. I'm now almost 30 and no 'hole in my heart' from him not being around. I don't wonder why he didn't want to spend more time with me. He is literally just person who was in my life at one point. Seems like Aubree's on a similar path.
