There are so many guitarists in the world who are so much better, such as Dragonforce's Herman Li (who is also originated in Hong Kong), or Dave Mustaine of Megadeth, or Blues players like Stevie Ray Vaughan and Sue Foley, as well as country artists like Brad Paisley and Blake Shelton... they are all more talented than Beyond.
Why are you comparing??? Wong Ka Kui is talented and there are many others in the world that are talented. However, you can not just vaguely criticize and give an ignorant opinion without even knowing who Wong Ka Kui is. So how much of his music do you listen to? If you listen to his music, you see there are a lot of Pink Floyd influence in the early 80s. So no need to compare, good music is good music. Wong Ka Kui of Beyond was awesome. He was unique in the Chinese music scene because he basically wrote his own music instead of playing other people’s stuff (covering). Also unique because listening to his music today still doesn’t sound old. Before you express your opinion, make sure you know who you are talking about. No need to compare. No one is saying who is number one or something, it’s shameful to compare; music is music.
As you said there are many talented artists…globally; past or present, you don’t know them all and not all his/her music. It is your opinion that Wong’s music is less than those you mentioned above. I like Blake Shelton but Blake’s music is a different genre and can’t compare to those from Beyond. Leave it alone!
