    After trying for the past year to figure out why, exactly, rock quarries are so deadly, you have finally explained it to me. Everything I’ve read only tells me what the dangers are, not exactly WHY those things are dangerous. Many thanks! Now I understand!

    Some people hit the water and immediately pass out from the cold water. Legendary information that people should know.

    Also under currents or flow can suck you down and you'll drown. Happened here where I live. Plenty people died in our quarry.

      Nope. It's 90 out an they dive off a cliff an at the surface it's 50° water 15-20 feet down 35-40. So have you ever poured cold water over yourself , especially when it's hot. You go Oooooooo ooh then you gasp. It's INVOLENTARLY like at the doctor's when they hit your knee an it moves. Good you mouth do what you want you will still breath in you have no control. So they jump go in, take a breath of water 15-20ft down an they don't come up. It's not that it's deep or obstruction. Which there can be many. It's the cold water making you Cold an you breath in. I didn't know this till about a month ago an it makes sense. An records say cold water shock, quarries colder than the Atlantic ocean is what killed 80% of all deaths. I always thought they jumped in an current took them or they stuck on a tree or hit a tree. Can happen but alot the water surprises your body. Stay safe. When I was young I would go there with friends blaze a couple Ls drink a 2 liter of Morgan an dive 50 feet. Hit so hard it hurts you feet gonna just with shoes. Don't do it.

      People have been known to drown in shallow water, hell there’s even something known as dry drowning*. Part of the problem is people underestimate how dangerous a body of water can be, I knew someone when I was at school who broke their collar bone by diving in to a canal and hit a supermarket trolley that had been pushed in to the canal.
      There’s all sorts of things when it comes to diving or swimming in water. There’s leaching, which effects the PH of the water, look up “the blue lagoon of Lancashire”. It’s an abandoned quarry where people regularly go to swim because of how blue the water looks, the reason it’s so blue is because of how low the PH level and there’s signs up telling people that swimming in the this quarry is like swimming in bleach.
      Then there’s what’s under the water, I don’t just mean things like cars, trolleys and other man made things. I live in the Norfolk Broads and every now and then someone drowns because they got tangled up in underwater weeds.
      Then there’s things like currents and rip tides. It doesn’t matter how strong a swimmer someone is, if they get caught in a bad current they’re gone. Most people make the mistake of swimming against a rip tide, if you ever find yourself stuck in a rip tide swim parallel to the shore line, sooner or later later you’ll find yourself in a calm part of the sea (think of it as an ally way between two rip tides) then swim to the shore.
      *it’s pretty much when someone, normally a child, gets into trouble while swimming or breaths in water and then leaves the water and thinks they’re safe, only their lungs have reacted badly to the water and have started to bleed, only it takes a few hours before anyone notices something is wrong.

    Another thing to consider is that sometimes the water can be really toxic so if drowning or getting trapped under doesn't kill you the toxicity of the water will

      @@bhargavivonguru6304I do a lot of urban exploration and focus a lot on abandoned mining towns. I always spend an eon researching the place before I step foot in there. There are so many places I wouldn't even consider stepping foot into for at least another 40 years. Unfortunately when these businesses were booming, they didn't care about the long term consequences.

    I’m surprise he didn’t mention the pockets of air that come up every once in a while. Suddenly, the density of the water drops really low and people just get sucked all the way down.

    Have you ever got or felt very cold water get dumped over your head an you go "ooooo" an shake an breath in? At a certain point of cold temp ( could be different when it's 90 out ) your body will do that. So they jump in the quarry an go down 20 feet an at the surface it 50° an 20 feet down it could be 30. So they jump in an go down the body does what it does an they take a full breath of water an drown, all done. It's involuntary meaning you can hold your mouth or stop it from happening ( doctor hitting your knee an your leg moves) when I was younger I would just off a cliff 50 feet down an you have to run an jump cause from the edge of the cliff to about 15 feet out it's rocks. So you have to jump them . Quarrys are cool but trust me swim in lakes. You don't wanna leave you mom or wife without you. An that's not including what's down there. One day you could be jumping not touching the bottom next week you come back water is lower an someone dumped a car in an hour hit it, all done.

    Went to a quarry this weekend and was too scared to go swimming incase animals or fish got me so wanted to look online to see and my dad told me it's because there is old machinery in there which can attach onto you and drown you and not only that the cold water

    • @craigpater6278
      @craigpater6278 ปีที่แล้ว

      In addition to that jumping from a great height into quarry waters is dangerous because old machinery could be hidden very close to the water's surface but not be visible so jumping into the quarry waters risks hitting hard objects like old machinery hidden close to the water's surface but out of sight is possible

    I go carp fishing at a old gravel pit/quarry here in england an its about 50 foot deep in places big cliffs in most areas and loads of lilly pads around the edges, holds some big fish in the summer ill take a swim in it but its freeezing freezing cold out in the depth around the edge is warm and inviting thats what also makes them deadly as its fine in the shallows but cold enough to cause cramp if you go out into the deeper cooler water
