  • How to use the PWM Sub-System on the Beagle Bone Black. This will show you how to get the Pulse Width Modulation system working. Using bone cape manager we activate the PWM clocks, and set up the pin mux.
To demonstrate a simple use, we use a 12v LED strip and a NPN transistors to show and amplify the PWM signal. The 12v Led strips are a pre-built circuit that takes a 12v power supply and goes through a resistor and a Light Emitting Diode.
The transistor takes the small 3.3v PWM signal and amplifies it to a 12V PWM signal. Be careful, and make sure that the transitor you have can safely handle the LED strip current. A single strip should only have a small amount of current but if your going to use more, you may need a bigger transistor and a heat sink.

Very interesting. 🥳 I think this method of echoing to the PWM pins will help in getting the Orange Pi-5 GPIO PWM pins setup to control a servo motor? 😎 Thank you.

Hello, Please let me know if collector of transisteor need to be connected to Ground.

***** The emitter is connected to ground. The Collector is connected to the negative of the device you wish to control

nice tutorial, and which desktop recording software do you use?

winner liu I actually use hardware. Software puts a heavy load on the computer from encoding. I used to use software, specifically camtasia. That's the best software I've used. Other ones put to much of a load and didn't have good quality. The hardware I use is a HD Gaming PVR2 by Hauppauge. Not the best unfortunately but it will do for this purpose..
