The Late 298D was added in a recent War Thunder event and I have been 50/50 on wether or not to do a video on this guy. Well, I finally made up my mind and here it is! I actually had a lot of fun with this thing and it wasn't nearly as bad as I feared it may be. I hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching!

As a French main I know that French vehicles can use baguettes as fuel but prefer to use more common fuels.

I completely agree that this is the best fighter France has ever produced. With every new jet model they roll out they move further and further away from the greatness that was the Late 298D. Great video, guys!!

Losing both "floaties" is the best thing that could happen to this plane since unlike the Arado it has fuel in the wings too. Maybe u could try to shoot each other's off. + there was a land based version of this with retractable gears, and a stronger engine.
And yes even the maxed out gunners are: blind, drunk, handicapped, missing an arm, and stupid as shit, in this game, (unlike naval gunners).
That nose paintjob feels more like "😬" than "🦈".

Very new to this game, so how do they all play together. I thought it was random players loaded into a match?
@Dave Tarr they friend eachother and invite eachother into a squad. someone becomes a squadron leader everyone readies up and then they go to battle.

@@davetarr7257 Let an old hand help you out here. Been playing since original CBT in 2011. You can join into and make a squad that you can take friends, players you've met, etc into random matches with you. As long as they accept the invite. The matchmaker will always focus on the highest br. A popular "initiation" is to take a new player to top tier without them knowing for the first match.

France does have other torpedo planes, this thing is still the coolest
There's also the B-26C, the F6F-5N and the SB2C-5, but these are U.S. planes used by France through the lend-lease program, not French planes.
Apart from that, it comes down to the Latécoère 298D and the Marcel Bloch MB.175T (which also happens to be a fantastic bomber hunter), so . . . yeah, the Laté is *almost* France's best anti-ship plane - I believe the 175T is a tad better. Just a tad. 😄

That was a half-cobra. Almost anyone can do one. The real trick is to continue back into controlled, level flight afterwards.

They really need to add a Douglas TBD Devastator that had floats into the game. And also the F4F Wildcat that also had floats.

Lots of planes had, or could have, floats. Like the Ju 52 ... and yes, there had been a good number of militarised versions with a gunner in a rear turret.

In real life, actual most sucessful plane in ground attack role for France during the battle for France.
No, seriously, the french were so desperate in trying to stop the german tank columns that they went to the naval air station and just told the pilots to go inland and look for german tanks to attack; nevermind that the pilots only knew how to attack ships and were more proficient with topedoes than bombs, and also nevermind that they were not specifically trained to fly overland, or had any knowledge of how to spot ground targets in flying overland, or that they had to do with civilian road maps because the navy did not have maps for navigating aereally overground. Well, they went anyway and did a better job at close air support than any other french plane.
So, better have a tank video using the Late 298D as it was historically: best french CAS plane!

Day 7 Transmission: Its been a week here in the wilderness of War Thunder. Tanks of all nationalities roam the battlefields. I have almost been caught by a number of Big German Cats. If only TBLF would open its storage garages and pull out their T26E4 Super Pershing’s. God, the fact that Gaijin calls it the T26E1-1, that’s historical inaccuracy at its finest. Anyway, getting off topic. I am sending this to Bo’s HQ. Hopefully he checks his transmission log. I must go now. Need to keep on the move. *End Transmission*

And don't forget: it can carry 2 bombs or a torpedo (a similarly useless one like on that premium Fw 190 A-5, that couldn't even sink a frigate, but since it is the lightest 190 I had much better results with it in air RB, and 2 x 20mm 151s more than enough) so maybe when the french coastal tree comes out this thing will be useful for something. But I can already see that the US planes (again) in the French tree are going to be the "workhorses" for naval as well.

aircraft AA gunners have engagement of .200 km which pretty much point blank and useless most fighters fire at 0.500-0.800km+ and i have a almost maxed out bomber crew and i have to switch to them or i will get shot down before my aa gunners open fire
