      Great to hear. Love this one - tho it's completely overgrown this year. Ah well, life changes.

    @ 24:35 that fish is in precisely the type of spot that somebody like myself might barrel into to get some streamer shots in the pool. Would have been another fish spoiled! Good show of awareness! 👊💪

      It's funny because how we each fish really does impact what we observe. A LOT of streamer anglers get frustrated on low population waters (4 - 6 fish per mile) because of the propensity to just work the water rather than to find the fish first or to invest heavily in observation. When hunting for specific big browns the best bet is to take the time to invest in observation first, then prospecting the subsequent reduced number of lies that we can't observe. By this method there's usually 70 - 80% we can observe with 20 or 30% of the water that might be likely holding water that we can't observe. Even at that the risk of spooking trout streamer fishing is high in waist-depth or shallower unless the angler is well-adept at working the water to protect the edge of lies and using delivery that feathers the fly's arrival :) But again, all different waters need different considerations and there are always exceptions and never hard, absolute rules :)

      A few solid moments in life for sure :) And yes, we had a few forced 4-Square stops... funny when you come out of the bush at 730pm you've filtered your options to a 3 lane tour of the 4 square ;) And we do use the MacLeans here at home for a few reference fish. It's funny how quickly people's 4lb stream browns here become an honest 2 1/2 ;)

    Really, it's superb 😮
    I have a very small, narrow (1.5m max width)' river with trouts up to 3kg. The river has many turns, mäander and there is hardly no more room than 5 to 7m.
    Which tippet diameter / strength is your recommendation ?
    Kind regards,
    Markus

    • @jensenflyfishing
      @jensenflyfishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      Love these waters. Really the tippet _x is so dependent on the food source, flow, clarity, size of fish, angling pressure. We were on 4 & 5x tippet. I'd start in that 4x zone and pay attention to the refusals and size down as needed.
