Yes, I noticed it too!! "Il nome suo nessun saprá" ("no one will know his name"), which speaks of how, even if Ilsa already knew who Ethan was, she still knows he is a secret agent. Just another secret agent doing his anonymous job to save the world. This is GREAT MUSIC COMPOSING right there.
4:28 that move coupled (pardon the pun) with Ethan landing on her and her putting her hand over his chest, such natural and sweet chemistry you can tell right away the writers are making a love interest. Well I couldnt tell right away, to me I though Ethan’s heart belonged to Julia and would be always. He can never be with Julia but it clear he loves her still. So it always seemed like he was settling for ilsa and it seems like she deserves to be somebody’s first choice.

Good point. Obviously they made it just so Cruise could flex his skills, but I think it's kind of justifiable given the situation. At the beginning Ethan has time to think, but he has not the keys, so he thinks about climbing the pole as escape (you can see how he is studying his height). He didnt put keys into the equation because he couldnt think of a way to get them. When Ilsa give him the keys, the istinctive reaction is to directly unlock them, which he is unable to do. Then he has no time to think: Ilsa's being beaten, he has to act in a second, so he goes back to the original plan. There are actually a lot of social experiments showing how previous solutions act as a mental costraint to new problems (old problem being escape without keys, new being escaping with keys), leading to inefficient solutions. This is especially true when you have not so much time to think. Then obviously Mission Impossible is full of overcomplicated things that are done in a certain way for the sake of fancy or spectacularity (just like every single scene in Ghost Protocol basically), but usually they can have an explaination.
I miss Jeremy Renner. His dynamics with the team in those two movies was different. Hope to see him back in his elements sometime in the future installments. Maybe, as soon as Dead Reckoning 2. Especially, when he doesn't have to wield the bow and arrow for Marvel anymore.

I don’t think he did it because she’s a woman, he felt the need to protect her because she was helping him, because he assumes (correctly) she’s an undercover agent working for a US friendly government. Just like Ilsa Lund when she married Victor Laszlo. The amount of people not getting this is ridicolous, especially considering RF looks like Ingrid Bergman and a part of this movie is set in CASABLANCA (and a part of the next in Paris). I mean guys come on.

Then at 4:09 he hears that his friend is in trouble and pain and he thinks enough of this trying to unlock myself. He taps into that tom cruise nitrous and climbs off the pipe in a way I can’t even describe.
I don’t think he did it because she’s a woman, he felt the need to protect her because she was helping him, because he assumes (correctly) she’s an undercover agent working for a US friendly government. MI6 clearly.
But the way he sees her in trouble and immediately finds the strength to lift himself

Yes the Tom saving the French women scene was really impactful even tho we could Eliminate the scene and no one would even know but that role establish how good ethan is at making choice

It was Ethan’s instinct, reflex, it was his nature.
He couldnt choose to let an innocent person die for the mission because like capt Kirk he doesn’t believe in no-win scenarios. There’s always a way of completing the mission without compromising your ethics.

If these organizations like IMF are there to protect us and are willing to let innocent good people die, then what are they fighting for?

fantastic intro to a new female character you can actually like. no mary sue man hating wahmen, an actual rounded likable female character who interacts normally .... tom cruise really understands his audience unlike every studio and damn near every other actor in hollyweird.
I hope they pull out some Fast and furiosu shit and bring her back..!! Man why did they kill such an amazing addition. The Franchise could have been carried by her after Tom!
