@@TravelLordOnLoc Yea. you should def go back there in summer. And make sure you stop by Alaçatı. Small, really cool town with narrow streets with tons of restaurant’s, cafes, bars, clubs, etc. It’s more like a boutique style town. lol you may like it. Happy travels 😘
Hello, thank you for the introduction. I also live in Istanbul, but I will move to Bodrum in a few months. I know that place is good for me and I found my peace there.
I discovered you with your 10th November vlog and really liked your vlogs thank you for showing Türkiye so beautifully and excited for your new tours around the world!
Hello, although it is superficially introduced as an ancient Greek city in the English Wikipedia, when you change the language to turkish and so enter the Turkish Wikipedia and translate it into English, you can see that it is expressed as a city of the Carian civilization which is one of forgetten ancient Anatolian civizilations before the greek period. The name Hali-carnassoss actually comes form Ala-k̂arna. k̂arna express Kale in modern Turkish equivalent and Kale means Fortress in English. Also the word 'Ala' is widely used still in Anatolia since ancient times to today. Have a nice trip.
Some of other place examples in Anatolia Alaşehir - Ala city Aladağlar - Ala mountains Alabalık - Ala fish Alagöl - Ala lake Alakale - Ala fortress Alaçatı Another secret thing is probably Hagia Sophia is same. Halikarnassos - Ala Karna Hagia Sophos - Aya Sofya Apparently these mysterious words come from the Ancient Anatolian dialect, a period when languages began to form. They may have given such names because the letter A is easy to tell or read.
Such a great video! Thank you for making a Bodrum video young man👍🏼 Too much history, right? I bet half of the rich people who own great villas out there haven’t been those great historical sites. ( Bodrum is known with its rich lifestyle, you know?) Please continue to make great videos throughout your trip around the world. Good luck, stay safe and stay happy!
Damn, i just learned new things about the city i grew up in. Its kinda embarrassing yk cuz i lived in this city for long years but also u made me remember that the city that im living in is so good and gorgeous place. Thank you for the video and huge respect for you to travel all over the world and sharing it! love your content keep doing it please ❤
A tiny little word about the mausoleum. Civil Courts Building in St. Louis, Missouri, Shrine of Rememberence in Australia, House of Temple of the Scottish Rite and of course The Lincoln Monument in DC are heaviliy influenced by the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus. The original plans of Anıtkabir in Ankara had a boxy roof structure resembling the mausoleum as well. The roof was later removed due to budget restrictions and structural challenges.
Thanks for the video ... I will share it with my friends ... Bodrum is everybody's favorite retiring destination .. and very different from the southern coast (Antalya) which is a favorite for families with kids where they can afford the all included package tours but very boring !!! K
After the siege and handover of Jerusalem, St John knights left the area headed for Rhodes. However, they couldn't be there for long and ended up in Bodrum. Needing a stronghold, they found out about the destroyed Mausoleum, using its pieces to build the castle. You can actually see the circular cut column pieces between the rectengular stones all around the castle. Couple years ago, there was this deep cavernous place around the land side of the castle. It said 'the place god does not exist' implying it was once a torture chamber. :D Actually, it turns out someone with a sense of humor carved it on the rock. As a matter of fact, it was just a big hole where they piled up their garbage.
I think Bodrum and places around there seem to be less beautiful than reality in videos. The atmosphere they have can be felt when they go there. Some places seem to be very beautiful on videos but It doesnt feel the same when you go to those places. I love Datça in Muğla also which is less touristic than Bodrum. Videos cannot reflect Datça's magical atmosphere also.
@@xogush8513 I do not know where you’re from but, Kaş is a city we call “ilçe” is a district of Antalya province, just as Bodrum is a district of Muğla province. It is true that Kaş is a low populated city.

I forgot to mention the gatekeepers of Ephesus. Those cats there had a really bad plague recently which disintegrated most of the tissue on their noses. Fortunately a massive public effort had rescued almost all of them. So nice to see human consciousness at work from time to time.
