A full 12,35 mins of super dooperness Bob. I really enjoyed the sights and sounds, great locations you filmed from, even the weeds looked great and in keeping with everything else. The green primer 37 was my fav I think, I liked that one. Excellent stuff as always from the ♛ of the railways videos... Paul :-)
Neverbin but have now !! Thats what a good vid does for you. Thanks Bob for the trip around a chunk of agreeable looking Welsh hill-scape , and the diesels looked at home even the 73 !!
@Bevoin1970 Thanks Paul, full of much appreciated flattery as always....I love it!!....with the addition of a crown...pure magic, Thanks as always....Bob
@khankadet Thanks Chris, delighted you enjoyed it, there are several 73's in preservation in South Wales...The Class 411 unit (1198) was used exclusively on the Lymyngton Branch in Hampshire....Bob
Thoroughly enjoyable video, Bob, with great unobscured locations. I thought that the two 37s in multiple would look great together in BR green, but whatever livery they receive eventually, they were a joy to see and hear...Mervyn
@kenbrowne1947 Thanks Ken, these 73's were used on the Southern Region of British Rail, they were capable of working on both third rail electrified lines, and had a small diesel for lines that were not electrified. They are to be found on many preserved lines as their small diesel units are economical to run......Bob
Just watched this again after a few months, excellent video Bob.The weather was fantastic that day.My Son and I are in a few shots (me with the world's worst Tripod...gone now though!). Once again, excellent video, keep up the good work!
Very nicely put together, Thanks for sharing. I've never visited the P&B, it certainly wouldn't be a day trip from Plockton. Always nice to see, and hear, a 37 in action, it was a sad day when ours were "replaced" with 158s - the Kyle Line just isn't the same without them. That 31 is a bit of a beast too.☺ All the Best, Dougie.
Thanks Dougie, it's a special line, being over a 1,000' above Sea Level, and set in a World Heritage Centre...coupled with a 1:40 gradient, what more could you ask for. It's a shame that you live so far away, but you can always see the development on the line through my videos...Best wishes...Bob
@AndreiTupolev True Andrei, 37219 looked great and worked extremely well. I'm not sure what livery is to be chosen for 37216, but BR green would be nice. It's strange as you say that 73, have ended up in such numbers in South Wales, There is one in Barry, one on the P&BR, several at the Forest of Dean, and one working at the Steel works in Cardiff.....Thanks again for your interesting comments...Bob
Brilliant video and enjoyable re-watching it. That was a fun day out with the lads, and also those wonderful locos. I make a couple of cameo appearances here, at 7:17 and 10:47 including my mum, haha! I should definitely try and make it to this year's diesel gala! 😊
@SuperWHIZZO The gradients on this line, and the fact it's part of a World heritage site, makes it a great place to visit.....and fair play to the Railway, they always try to put on a great show for the visitors...Bob
@balmesh I believe that 37219 was the only visitor Alan, but it's well worth a visit, and of course Big Pit and Blaenavon, are part of a World Heritage Site...Bob
Nice to see that they've kept Mainline livery on the 37219. Interesting to see the 'work in progress' on the other one as well. 73s seem to have found a home for themselves in S. Wales; there's one at Barry as well, isn't there.
My pleasure, modern diesels have little character, but these older versions by comparison have much more character, and always a joy to watch.....They are now nearly 50 years old....Bob
Thanks for sharing Bob. 37s always make a good show and it's a long time since I've seen a 73. Go to work out now what the carriage unit (1198) was. Chris
@penninefilms It normally comes from a loco that has been standing for a while, or has just been started up....a full throttle for the onlooking visitors results in this heavy exhaust that you see in the video....Bob
@howarth004 Thanks Dave, these 37's were the mainstay of freight hauled power for many years and it's always a great thrill to hear them again......Bob
Great footage Bob. It was a bit sad seeing 37219 for the last time a couple of weeks ago on my local patch but she looked splendid in the hills, if a little odd without her Dutch companion!
@37425 Thanks M, I bet those five of yours were Photoshopped!! :o)) , only decided to go on Friday night.....it was great to hear the sounds of those old diesels echoing around the Valley.....Bob
Thanks very much, and I'm delighted you're still enjoying it once again. This might have been even more important had the 37 and 31 been more seriously damaged in the incident after this event...Bob
Thanks a lot for a real "diesel-video"! Really great atmosphere and sounds from the locos. A British diesel- locomotive must be a mixture of a steam locomotive and a tractor! ;-) Fantastic with an arrangement like this, a real "Harley Davidson" meeting for diesel- locomotive fans! Another "diesel-monster" I can recommend to wathch is the legendary GM Nohab diesel. Greetings! :-)
@TheMichaelWilcock My pleasure Mike, met John Evans of Ebbw Vale who I believe you know...I thought the East Lancs Deltic weekend is this weekend....have a good one whichever you do....Bob
@bobnweaver Thanks Jeff, this high altitude location is a wonderful place, weather permitting of course, and to hear these locos giving such a show, was all credit to the P&BR staff.....Bob
@canvids1 Thanks Wayne, this is an area of great Historical importance, and has been granted World Heritage Status.....Those old diesels always put on a great show...Bob
Wow the P&B really put on a show with them diesels thrash and sound. With a steep line like this one your bound to have hard working steam and diesels provide it all
I think I'll go today ! Thanks for a good show once again Bob. Question is do I go to the ELR next w/e for the 5 Deltics...a trip too far maybe ? Mike W
@caerphillycastle I didn't know until late on Friday, nothing else on so we called in to see it and I'm glad we did.....error has been corrected...Thanks Ger....Bob
Thanks John, taken a few years ago now.....I'm fortunate to remember the 37's being delivered new to South Wales in the early sixties, arriving in Pairs from Doncaster...Bob
youtube arnt updating me with these latest vids bob,i dont know why,but anyway, first class quality again mate.always waitin for your latest uploads ,THANKS BOB,
Very nice video. The sound of diesel engines is really beautiful and very typical. A beautiful gala. Thank you Bob.

@Bevoin1970 Thanks Paul, full of much appreciated flattery as always....I love it!!....with the addition of a crown...pure magic, Thanks as always....Bob
@heabow Thanks Peter, it was a wonderful treat to hear the sounds of these locos echoing across the Valley...Bob
That blue 37 sounds just how I like them. Excellent production throughout.
Not been to this railway yet, it's now on my radar for the new year.
Fantastic shots of the locos under power at well chosen locations Bob.
@khankadet Thanks Chris, delighted you enjoyed it, there are several 73's in preservation in South Wales...The Class 411 unit (1198) was used exclusively on the Lymyngton Branch in Hampshire....Bob

@connrail Thanks Tommy, they have been around since 1963 and always a joy to see and hear....Bob

Superb stuff Bob, a fine display by the railway, great sounds throughout
Thanks for posting a fine video, I missed the gala as I was away that weekend so nice to see the video.
@AndreiTupolev True Andrei, 37219 looked great and worked extremely well. I'm not sure what livery is to be chosen for 37216, but BR green would be nice. @penybontshed No it's 37308 that's at Canton, Thanks for your comments....Bob
@488scooby There are many problems at the moment....with most people having some problem or other...Thanks for your kind comments....Bob
Brilliant video and enjoyable re-watching it. That was a fun day out with the lads, and also those wonderful locos. I make a couple of cameo appearances here, at 7:17 and 10:47 including my mum, haha! I should definitely try and make it to this year's diesel gala! 😊
Thanks Miranda, you both feature in a few clips not included in this video.
@SuperWHIZZO The gradients on this line, and the fact it's part of a World heritage site, makes it a great place to visit.....and fair play to the Railway, they always try to put on a great show for the visitors...Bob
oh, what sweet music comes from those locomotives. Thanks, Bob
Tommy
Very enjoyable video Bob,lots of action with brilliant sounds & lots of clag (C&A).
@balmesh I believe that 37219 was the only visitor Alan, but it's well worth a visit, and of course Big Pit and Blaenavon, are part of a World Heritage Site...Bob
Excellent video Bob. Certainly was plenty of colour there for you. They have come a long way. A ll the best.....Tim.
Nice to see that they've kept Mainline livery on the 37219. Interesting to see the 'work in progress' on the other one as well.
73s seem to have found a home for themselves in S. Wales; there's one at Barry as well, isn't there.

A fine video Bob. Plenty of variety and power on display there. Regards, Jeff.
@johnwood57 It was great to hear the roar on these now vintage diesels, and brought back many happy memories John...Thanks as always....Bob
Great smoking growlers Bob - another great film thank you.
Great video Bob. I do like a Diesel gala and hadn't they finished painting 37216 yet.
JamesandPeter
This kind of traction is what it's all about, Thank you for uploading Bob.
Dave.
@cuzinitr ls certainly gave a superb show on the day...Thanks as always Rich....Bob
@howarth004 Thanks Dave, these 37's were the mainstay of freight hauled power for many years and it's always a great thrill to hear them again......Bob
Thanks David, glad you enjoyed it....Hope you had a very enjoyable Christmas, and can I wish you and your family a very Happy New Year....Bob
Great stuff, some good shots. Looks a good day, loads of action and thrash.
Great footage Bob. It was a bit sad seeing 37219 for the last time a couple of weeks ago on my local patch but she looked splendid in the hills, if a little odd without her Dutch companion!
This is fantastic show! :)
@37425 Thanks M, I bet those five of yours were Photoshopped!! :o)) , only decided to go on Friday night.....it was great to hear the sounds of those old diesels echoing around the Valley.....Bob
@1961ruud09 Thank you, it's always a pleasure to see these old work horses still doing their thing....Bob
@JamesandPeter It certainly added to the variety of liveries on display, I'm sure it won't be long before it's completed...Bob
@cmeonthemove Thanks Chris, she was certainly in fine fettle, and of course both these 37's were South Wales based when new.....Bob
@GreatWestern175 Thanks Ry, they've cetainly put on a great show for both the Steam and Diesel galas....Bob
I went there this week to get a cab ride on a Class 31, and I'm hoping to go back there for the steam gala next week!
Hope you enjoy yourself Theo, it's a wonderful Railway.
Very well done Bob! Love them 37s smoke show! Rich
Nice video Bob,this line has really come on since we visited.
As always, great video! Thanks for posting! I enjoyed it!... :)
@Gian2812 Thank you Gian for your continued support....Bob
@eurodestination It's a term used when the loco regulator is fully opened Gary...Hope that clears things for you....Bob
The class 73 and 31 are great diesels! The 37s are also great! Very good filming and well timed!
Thanks Thomas, much appreciated.....it was a great Gala...Bob
@siobhan104 Thanks Tim, it gets better each year, and good luck to them...it's a great place to see trains working hard....Bob
Thanks very much, and I'm delighted you're still enjoying it once again. This might have been even more important had the 37 and 31 been more seriously damaged in the incident after this event...Bob

Greetings! :-)
@60163Jordan Thanks very much, too many Galas don't bother putting on a show for the visitors, but the P&BR have done a great job....Bob
@34002salisbury Looks different though, I believe it was touch and go as to whether it would be fit to work.....Bob
@TheMichaelWilcock My pleasure Mike, met John Evans of Ebbw Vale who I believe you know...I thought the East Lancs Deltic weekend is this weekend....have a good one whichever you do....Bob
Great shots Bob, Trains are so different here

@KBRAILVIDEOS Check their site before visiting K.....they open at Weekends mainly....Thanks as always...Bob
@pwalpar Thanks Walter...much appreciated.....Bob
At 1300 feet, it needs to be a good day - outside all that time in October. What do you mean by thrash Bob?
@bobnweaver Thanks Jeff, this high altitude location is a wonderful place, weather permitting of course, and to hear these locos giving such a show, was all credit to the P&BR staff.....Bob
@mvjedforest Thanks Mervyn, and I totally agree with your comments....it's probably our memories of them when new that does it....Bob
That echo from all the horns is glorious!
Indeed Greg, despite being over 1,000 ft above Sea level, the area is surrounded by an amphitheater of mountains.
@canvids1 Thanks Wayne, this is an area of great Historical importance, and has been granted World Heritage Status.....Those old diesels always put on a great show...Bob
@RailfreightWales Thanks Justin, that's very kind of you......Bob
@MG06ZT It was an unplanned visit Keith, and turned out to be a great day...Thanks again...Bob
@jagafoto Thanks very much, delighted you enjoyed it....Bob
@okotokspaul Thanks very much, this footage being of particular interest as the 37 and 31 have since been involved in an incident at the Railway...Bob
Fantastic Bob. Glad you got to see some 37s at last (even if it was 2 rather than 5 like myself ;-))
Would love 216 to be put in Railfreight sector, or red stripe
@bobnweaver Thanks Jeff, the weather was kind, and they put on a great show ...it was very enjoyable....Bob
is that the same 37 in green primer that is normally lurking at canton shed (in the spot previously held by a class 27)??
@wooltman They've made vast improvements there in recent years Chris, it's becoming a great Railway to visit...Thanks for your support....Bob
@veryhappychappy12 My pleasure, and as you say the P&BR is certainly improving all the time.....Bob
@lionbill Thanks very much Bill, much appreciated...Bob
Wow the P&B really put on a show with them diesels thrash and sound. With a steep line like this one your bound to have hard working steam and diesels provide it all
It's all the rain and sunshine that does it :o))....Bob
I think I'll go today ! Thanks for a good show once again Bob. Question is do I go to the ELR next w/e for the 5 Deltics...a trip too far maybe ? Mike W
Probably the friendliest preserved line I've been on. Both times I've been I've been given a cab ride!
They are indeed a wonderful group of people Andrew, and always Happy to indulge you if they can....Bob
@caerphillycastle I didn't know until late on Friday, nothing else on so we called in to see it and I'm glad we did.....error has been corrected...Thanks Ger....Bob
