Your videos have been the final push my husband and I needed. We are going to be enclosing all our birds this weekend. I am so sorry that you lost your flock. They looked like such beautiful birds.

Hey guys. I want to express our deepest sympathizes. We had this happen to our flocks as well. I appreciate your well spoken message about HPAI and your concern for others. It is heartbreaking to have to euthanize healthy birds, but the USDA doesn't give you any options. If we want to talk please reach out to me or our team here at McMurray Hatchery. There are days we will never forget but working together we can build a stronger future. Id offer some chicks but we are rebuilding right now as well. Please take care and thanks for your chicken commitment.

Thank you so much. I am very sorry about your loss as well. I know you have been doing this for the longest time and have some really great heritage breeds and genetics. When it comes to selling chicks and hatching eggs I felt the only option was to call the USDA. We really appreciate you reaching out. I totally understand the chick thing and will hopefully buy some chicks from you in the future.

Graduate of Churchville-Chilli Class of '91 writing to you from Northern Quebec. We have our own flock on our homestead and the Canadian Geese and ducks are due in our area 2-3 weeks from now. Your videos have really hit home for me. We are the only people in our area to have Barred Rock and Canadian Blue Bresse. Had the eggs shipped 4 years ago and hatched them ourselves. My heart is broken for you. Because of your video we now know how serious this is. Thank you. You may have saved our birds which we normally run in chick shaws and portable fencing all summer/fall. God bless my friends.

So nice to hear from someone who was from the area. I really hoped that putting this out would save other people's birds because this is just terrible. Good luck this year and thank you for the blessings.

Man, I swear those Canada geese fly over my house morning noon and night!!
I need to figure out how to cover the area they are in.
At this point oregon is not on the map, but Idaho is so it's only a matter of time I guess.
My main coop is way too small to keep them all under cover.
I just have a small backyard flock of around 25 birds. Chickens and ducks.
I did find a dead laying hen a couple weeks ago. I freaked out for a few days. But I'm thinking either a hawk got her and I just didn't look her over very well, or she ate something she wasn't supposed to?
I haven't seen anybody else acting weird or anything.
I usually do an internal exam when I don't know why they died. But loads of family emergencies kept me from that this time.
At first glance she looked healthy, but we all knew, they can just drop dead for no apparent reason at any point in their lives.
    Dang birds!

I hate how it’s all over the place right now. I was looking at like June for pasture again, in Wayne county. Wild birds only infected here but idk if it’s worth the risk.

Yeah. So here in ohio a sherrifs office put out a public notice for people who may "find" an extra bird in their flock to report it to them due to this bird flu. Chew on that for a bit...and I'm really sorry you all are having to go thru this.(Leipsic or Monclova)

we're getting a new coop on Friday, so currently our girls are free-ranging cause that's our only option, so we're just hoping nothing goes wrong, but luckily our area is very inactive with wild birds.

I had been following a tiny handful of farm channels before this, but seeing their takes and opinions on this fiasco inspired me to take a look around to find other farm channels, which led me to yours. Your documentation of this experience has been very insightful, it's just heartbreaking all this attention has been a result of pure tragedy.
If you have other animals like cats or dogs, are they doing alright? I heard the avian flu can spread and harm them as well, and I hope they're doing alright.

How on earth can you afford to sell fresh cut flowers with a vase for $4? That would be $20 where I live. No matter where you live, you should be doing biosecurity for your flock. A can of Lysol to spray on your footwear and a set of footwear specifically for your run, cover your run, and wash your hands at the minimum.
