The union ultra got recommended to me by a sales man but I thought he was just all talk. Like they usually are but I love the sound of how you described the ultra. I’ll probably go grab it. Finally building up a whole new kit this year

Curious now why they discontinued the Malavita, if its sales were getting cannibalized by the mission, or if it was cannibalizing sales of the genesis.
This is complete speculation. I sold hardgoods last winter and it's hard for customers to look at the FS, mission, cartel, cartel X, and genesis, and then decide to spend Malavita money without winding up on Union Stratas instead. Feels like I don't see 4 bolt Burton in the park much these days and while the Malavitas are perfect for the sponsored riders, they don't have enough street cred anymore to be a big seller. Again, total speculation.

Push towards Step On. Slowly discontinue straps, eventually forcing people into Step On. Boot sales spike. Just speculation but I feel this is what they're trying to do.
@Angry Snowboarder ah, how could I forget? Willfully. People balled out for our Step On X bindings because they were "the cool ones". Burton reps let me try out the Territory Manager last season with the base step on + photons last year and told me to leave the boots in a locker room for them to find later because "nobody's gonna take em."
Great review Avran. I'm loving my rome bindings with aux tech especially that toe strap which is phenomenally comfortable for an older rider like myself. Do the Vice bindings have canting or are they flat? Seems the smart move is to just buy the vices and then order cant pads from Rome and you pretty much have Katanas?
Hey Angry. Got my board stolen last year and wanted a recommendation. I’m 5’9”, 160ish lbs, sz 11 boot, lower to middle end of intermediate rider. I used to ride a capita ultra fear but I’m deciding between a 151w ride shadowban, 154w Rome warden, 154w capita DOA. I want to pick a good progression board that will last a long time due to only snowboarding a handful of times a season. Thank you!

Looking for a butter / Jib park board for this season that will be fun to ride when going slow with more beginner friends, I’m trying to decide between the rome party mod or arbor westmark rocker. What would you pick between the two?

Kinda bummed no shadow fit bindings made it on the list, especially the Salomon District. They have been my go to free style bindings for the past couple of seasons.
Are they any real noticeable differences between Rome vice and the Blaster bindings? Got the vice on my all mountain board. And looking for a binding to pair with my evil twin. Or maybe put the vice on it and get something stiffer for my all mountain board.
Is it a problem if a boot has extra room above the metatarsals? I have a pair of vans infuse at my house that I’m not sure about keeping. They are making contact further back, in front on my ankle (on the tarsals).
How’s your experience on the aux strap? I bought the blaster because of the strap after watching your review of Rome bindings. I did around 35 days, mainly riding a small park. One of the toe strap has already broken. Bataelon is shipping the replacement strap to me. Slightly disappointed on the durability.

Had a problem with the union ultra, overall the ride was insane, not really many complaints, but the damn mini disk and its screws keep loosening, you tighten the screws as much as you can and by the end of the day they’re loose.
Love the ultras with my thirty two boots and dancehaul

It's essentially the same binding. Personally put the Vice on the ET, get something stiffer for the AM.

If its ripping apart you have it set up wrong so you're over cranking it and stretching it.

Check your inserts on the board. Or slap some gel nail polish on the threads and tighten it down.
