    Tx Naomi. 1 BIG TIP for making txt boxes faster: 1) insert the top row of txt boxes by pasting 1 at a time; 2) hold down ctrl & click on all the top row of txt boxes to select them; 3) CTRL + C : to copy the entire row of boxes; 4) CTRL + V : pastes an ENTIRE ROW of boxes at a time; 5) move the ENTIRE ROW into position (repeat 4 & 5 as often as you would like)

    Thanks so much for creating this video! I have had so many questions in my TpT store about converting a resource to digital. Your video has been my go to answer to their issue since I do not have time to convert everything to digital. I just copy the link to this video to help them out. It has been a life saver. I even sent it out to all the teachers at school since we are doing digital learning this fall. Thanks again!

    It's nice to see a female teacher present tech skills. I loved your explanation and it was an easy tutorial to follow. With distance learning in place, we really need this so students that have no book at home and need a worksheet can have one. They can write easily on the worksheet. A good tool for math teachers! I have a lot of ideas .

    This is brilliant. I am a college prof who uses Google Slides in class rather than PowerPoint, but I never thought of this: taking advantage of the text box option within slides, which is not in Google Docs. I never even thought of re-sizing the slides! Duh :>(
    I often use Google Docs instead of Slides because I can fit more text on them -- when I have a textual specimen, for example.

      @@sjm1608 Do you mean edit an image with text boxes as in the video? As I understand, she snipped the PDF and saved it as a PNG image. Then she used the PNG image as a background in the Google slide.

    • @sjm1608
      @sjm1608 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      RogueReplicant No, I was referring to the the pencil tool on the top right that does the same thing without all of those steps. Students can edit a pdf, png, jpeg, etc. on a mobile device by clicking on the pencil tool to edit the document and edit immediately without the teacher having to do any extra editing. However, if they are using a computer then you would need to edit the document as in the video. Most of my students use their phones. That’s why I suggested another option as well that doesn’t require additional editing. Both methods work. Hopefully that makes sense.

    THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I followed every step and created an editable PDF. However, once I added the google slide to my classroom - the students do not have the option to TURN IN this page?! Please help!!!!

      Make sure when you assigned this in Google Classroom you went to ‘Classwork’ at the top, Create-Assignment. From there, you can assign that Google Slide and click the option ‘Make a Copy for each student’. That will give them the option to turn in.

      sigal jankelow It is POSSIBLE for students TO EDIT A PDF using the google classroom APP ON A MOBILE DEVICE without having to do all of those steps in the video.
      STEPS TO EDIT A PDF ON A MOBILE DEVICE:
      (1)The student has to open the google classroom app on a mobile device, (2)open the pdf assignment, (3)click on the pencil tool on the top right, (4)click the texting tool on the bottom right, (5)when finished typing click the bottom left resizing tool, which allows them to increase or decrease the texting box to fit appropriately without changing font size.

      Yes ma’am. I teach HS math and most of my students have a cell phone. So they do their work on their phone instead of paper.

    I have a question about students submitting a copy of the fillable pdf. Do they need to save it to their drive first, or after filling it in can they just click on turn it in? Thanks for your help!

    • @naomimeredith_
      @naomimeredith_  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Juliann Witt They need to make a copy that will automatically save to their Drive. If you can, I would suggest setting up a Google Classroom. It will automatically make a copy for each student (saves it to their Drive) and you can access their work in there. I recently added 3 videos here on my TH-cam channel about Google Classroom that can point you in the right direction and next steps.

    You could also use Kami with Google Classroom to allow students to edit pdf files. Quicker.

      Karen C definitely! That is another great option. I am showing this method since I know not all schools give students access to Google Extensions. Also, editable PDFs like this can also work on tablets as well where extensions can’t be used right now on mobile devices.

    HI. Great help! I followed the steps and added text boxes to a worksheet. When I added it as an assignment in google classroom, it appears when they would click on it that it won't allow them to type a response on it. I am not sure what I did wrong.

    • @naomimeredith_
      @naomimeredith_  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jessica Hoover Good Job! That’s amazing! Make sure when you are assigning in Google Classroom, you click the tab ‘Classwork’ first, then ‘Create’-Assignment. You can add your worksheet there and ensure you click the button ‘Each student gets a Copy’. That should fix your issue! Also make sure the share settings of your original document are ‘Anyone with the link can view’

    I am clearly a novice and wonder if you might be able to explain how do the text boxes stay in place without moving around the page? Is there a specific way to save the slide? THANKS for your assistance.

    Love this! Is it possible to make this on Google Doc and not Google Slides? I've found it easier to grade Docs on Google Classroom, but haven't figured out a way to do this process with docs.

    • @naomimeredith_
      @naomimeredith_  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jenna Morgan I haven’t tried in Google Docs. You can check in the tool bar if you can change the background with an image. I’ve found it’s easier to layer text boxes in Google Slides, rather than Docs though. But maybe try and see what happens!
