    Hey great video! But they’ve recently announced that they’re no longer allocating extra points for additional degrees or publications from 2023 onwards but they’ve not yet released what they’re doing to replace it.

    Thank you so much for this video !! Cleared so many doubts. Just wanted to ask, what about PLAB 1 and PLAB 2. I'm currently in my 5th year medical school in Ukraine. Can I apply in the UK Foundation program before clearing PLAB 1 and 2 ?

    Don't know if you've made an updated video but they're now looking to remove additional degrees from the EPM score from 2023 onwards so you no longer get extra points for an additional degree :/

    Hi. I am a medical graduate from the Philippines. What if I already had my one year internship here, can I still begin FY1 post or should I go for FY2 stand alone? I'm planning to start at FY1 post so that I can get myself familiar with the medical culture in the UK.

    Thank you so much. This video has been of help. But I would like to ask that must every applicant pass both plab 1 and 2 before qualified to start the foundation program or the main qualifications are the academics (50) and the SJT(50)?

  • @sofijaekkert658
    @sofijaekkert658 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Regarding those 4-month rotations - does it mean that each 4 months you might literally be placed anywhere? I mean, geographically. Of course, that will depend on you preferences, but do I understand correctly that 4 months you may work in a certain city and then you may have to move anywhere else, even to another part of the UK?

  • @VenReacts
    @VenReacts 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    wait, SJT is out of 70?! i kept on thinking its out of 50, how does the 50/100 EPM get calculated, is it like deciles again?

    Two questions for you: when you graduate medical school, you must go to foundation programme right? Second question- I graduated medical school in EU but not UK, should I also go through foundation programme and if yes I have to go through it,how do I know if my diploma is acceptable? Thank you

      Hey, I'm really glad it was useful 😊 applications can be stressful, especially as a foreign graduate within a new system! As far as I'm aware, IMGs take the SJT after PLAB 1 and before the deadline for PLAB 2. All this is before FY1 and FY2. Will you be applying for this year? Best of luck!

    This was very useful! Thank You Matthew... Just a quick question, I'm from Malaysia and I have never been to the UK before. Do u have any advice for me in terms of choosing the foundation schools? like which place is better, the lifestyle, budget etc

    • @mattbklee
      @mattbklee  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Priya, I'm glad it was useful! There are lots of things that can affect your decision in choosing foundation schools. The biggest difference between them all is the location, as they are separated geographically throughout the UK, and most of them have a mix of big hospitals in big cities, and in small. I would say the biggest things to ask yourself are whether you would like to live in or near a busy city like London, or you'd like a more suburban experience 🙂 in terms of budgeting, I'd say areas around London are on the more expensive side of the scale. But obviously being in a big city has huge perks too, especially if you've grown up in near a city like KL!

    • @mattbklee
      @mattbklee  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a complex question really that depends on a lot of things! Were you planning to apply this year?

    • @priyameds
      @priyameds 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mattbklee thank you for the great explanation, to answer your question, yes i have gone through the eligibility application and now just waiting for the UKFPO application to open! That's true when you said about choosing the places depending on my preferences... I think I would prefer a place where the lifestyle is not too busy like the big city and have a good work-life balance ... as a first timer planning to work in the UK, your videos def helps me to understand the life of junior doctor in the UK! 😊

    • @mattbklee
      @mattbklee  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm really glad, and that's the reason I started this channel! I would say you have quite a few options then. The North of UK is also a bit colder in general than the South. I trained in Bristol (Severn foundation school) in the South West which was lovely and I would definitely recommend having a look there 😊
