I love this video idea because it's exactly why I love reading 1 star reviews of books I hated 😂 The category just titled "Men" just made me cackle. Great categories overall. And Hard Agree to Upgrade by Blake Crouch but I just checked and I gave it 3 stars? Its a 2 star to me now at least on review, but I've enjoyed everything else I've read by Crouch including his short fiction.
I've only read Dark Matter and Recursion by Blake Crouch - what other things of his do you recommend? I don't want to completely write him off for Upgrade even though I am tempted to!
Love the categories! Especially men! I have definitely read books that would fit that category. I personally don't rate my one stars on Goodreads or Storygraph because, for my purposes, one stars are my DNFs. Books that were so bad for me I couldn't get through, so I can't give an accurate review. The only exception to this was when I tried to read Forest Gump. I only got like 5 pages in and couldn't believe how derogatory and disgusting it was. I did review it because it was so problematic in just those few pages. Great video.
I know a lot of people don't rate DNFs, but I rate mine because I figure my experience will still be relevant to other people, even if it was short. Sometimes I will still rate DNFs 3 stars because it wasn't terrible, but it just wasn't for me. But oh, that's a surprise to hear that about Forest Gump! A case of the movie did it better, I guess 😓 definitely sounds like a 1-star read!
I don't know if I've ever given a 1star rating...2 yes, and that is rare... let's see... a book that entertains, has me feeling something, has me caring about characters, and has me visualizing the scenes ... a book that doesn't do these is not going to get a good rating from me. No book joy, no rating. 2. For the effort. the cover art was nice, the premise was interesting... but it didn't deliver. 1 because effort was non-existent.

Sorry you read slam because of me 😔 it was pretty garbage and the main character was really dumb
It’s ok, I read Cursed Princess Club (and probably other good things) because of you so it balances out :)
