  • So I was lucky enough to represent Malaysia to attending the global launch and test drive of the all new Porsche Cayenne in Crete, Greece. I drove the Cayenne S 2.9V6 twin turbo and the Cayenne Turbo with 4.0 V8 twin turbo engine. But this review will only be the Cayenne S for now.

    The macan is by no means small. It is close to 2 meters wide and around 2 tons heavy.

    Idk if you saw the previous cayenne, the rear cargo area is still very similar (definitely more spacious though), and the seats in the cayenne never had a seat release in the back. It was always on the side of the seat.

    Great review-- love how you focus on all the details (rear armrest, D pillar trim, etc). Those are the types of things that add up to make or break a car for me.
    Curious- how does this compare in terms of ride/handling as well as interior quality (materials, fit/finish, design) to the Range Rover Sport you tested a while back? My assumption would be that the Cayenne would blow the RR away in those areas, but your review of that car was surprisingly positive- you didn't seem to find any little niggles with it.

    • @BobbyAngmalaysia
      @BobbyAngmalaysia  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +richard h the Range Rover is nice and handles well but it's definitely not sporty. Definitely not in the league of the Cayenne. Build wise i somehow felt the RR using more solid materials. But as we all know, Porsche ranks top when it comes to reliability and RR ranks lowest in terms of historial reliability. Hopefully the new ones are better, as for Porsche, given that it now comes with so many crazy tech in the undercarriage, 4 wheel steer and active anti roll bar with 48 volt system, i'm sure first batch will suffer in reliability

    Hey Bobby, love your review. Question for you,
    How do you justify the benefit of rear wheel steering in your video? Have you driven one without this option back to back? I am leaning toward opting for it, but it will set me back for 10K USD in my country. (bundle with air suspension + power steering)

    • @nickswampah3272
      @nickswampah3272 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Joseph Lin I own a second gen Diesel S with air suspension. I always keep the car on first low setting. If road quality is good, this allows for tighter suspension. So, air suspension is a must!

    Bobby, thanks for this video. I really like your approach man! Crappy plastics also annoy me. Btw, I have placed a deposit for a Cayenne S which the dealer says should be available here in the UK in August 2018. I assume you are using a GoPro. But what mount are you using? It’s really smooth. Thanks again.

    The S is now well over $100000 for any config that makes sense. Wait another 5 years for this to lose half its value before considering. Prior Cayenne S are already selling in the mid to high $40k. Get that or a used Macan S.

    I've never really understood what people see in sedans. If you want practicality. Buy a SUV. In the Cayenne you get practicality + sportiness. If you want a pure sports car...buy a 911...assuming you can afford to spend $100-200k on a car or SUV. :) If anything...the Cayenne is an "urban assault SUV". That's what it was designed for. If one needs to do "real off-roading" (e.g. dirt roads with 4-7" dips, rocks...etc.)...then I'd go with a MB G-wagon or Land Rover. Or Jeep Wrangler.

    • @BobbyAngmalaysia
      @BobbyAngmalaysia  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Anderson C true. Sedans will be phased out soon. In 10-15 years SUVs will be the default car. To understand why sedans was created, we have to go back to the Mercedes 35, and they were created because of racing - hence low centre of gravity. Suv only become mainstream after car makers solved the handling issue associated with SUVs. Now that the CX5 or Tiguan outhandles an Accord or Camry, sedans suddenly became the biggest compromise ever. The form factor that sacrifices everything for nothing.

      It's actually quite simple, touring are evenly practical, except for the off road capacity, and cost a lot less both to buy and to maintain

      卓尧杜 The BMW L6 only sounds good above 4500rpm. A sweet mechanical sound but this 2.9 V6 is a gem.

    The best review of all so far! You found also some bad things. I have second generation Turbo and ordered the third one. But even from several video reviews I noticed that there are more plastic in this model. Seems its true, because you found these bad looking places too. No one before have made review in such details, or at least I didn’t find such one.
