This video series is a little different for me. My son Big Fist asked me not to do my typical “commentary” as we hiked the trail. So, I did a commentary at camp and put in video clips from the hike each day. Hope you enjoy this 5 part series of the Foothills Trail.

It is funny how the hiking roles change...growing up my Son was always lagging off the back and we would have to wait and encourage him. In watching your Son take the lead and on occasion check over his shoulder to see where you were, is exactly how our hikes go today...It is going to be painful when I can no longer keep up...lol

Love this trail! Hiked it with my greyhound last November. We started at Table Rock. Thinking I would save the easiest part for last when I was tired. Will hike it the other direction this year. We live in the area so hike parts of the trail pretty often.

When my son went on his first backpacking trip…he rolled a large rock on his hand. We didn’t know he broke it until we got back from the trip. But, before we got done, his first was so large from the swelling…the break…that began the trail name…big fist 🤛🏻 😂✌️

I think you two will have memories for a lifetime after doing a trip like this (and thanks to youtube and modern cameras you will have the memories available in a click:) It looks like an inviting place where you have hiked and camped; so I think I would have enjoyed a trip there. And while hiking it important to remember that it is not about the distance travelled; but about the experience. Many fathers (and some mothers) have killed their children's love for nature by force marching them mile after mile in the wild:-) Have fun on your adventures!

Mine wasn’t intentional. I have had a few surgeries. But, I am better now. Gained back a bunch of it. Good luck with the 100 mile wilderness. I hope to see that someday. ✌️

We have something in common. Your son looks like he could eat you for dinner. Mine does too. 😅 I'm 5'10" but he towers over me. We are doing the foothills trail this summer and i like your plan of parking at table rock and shuttling back to oconee. We've been trying to figure out exactly how we wanted to do things. Also, using the trail shuttle with Taz was great. He really helped us. Dropping that food off halfway was great. It helped keep some of the weight down. Best of luck on the trail.
Hey Crow. What time of year did you do this? You published the videos in June but I see a lot of leafless trees. I'd like to maybe do it in the fall when the leaves are changing colors. Also, what am I looking at pricewise for a shuttle from one park to the next? Does that include a food cache drop? Finally, how secure do you think the parking is at Table Rock? I might be driving up from FL for the Pinhoti Fest. If I do I'll say hi at your booth.
As far as the shuttle, we were very pleased with Jim Smith, Taz. He didn’t charge us extra for the food cache. We parked at Table Rock and it seemed very safe. They had a person at the gate and everyone seemed like it was a safe place to park
Was supposed to hike it just before covid (talked to Taz) but couldn't do it.... Thinking of hiking it around March. Do you think it would be a good time? Will be warmer than Canada for sure hahaha. Take care my friend :)

I have wanted to hike the Foot Hills Trail. My Question is,is there enough trees at the campsite for a hammock? I am a hammock camper. Just found ur channel and subscribe.

Oh yeah! I didn’t bring my hammock. But, there were definitely trees for hammock camping at every campsite. No issues with that. We saw a lot of hammock campers. Thanks for watching the series. Crow✌️
