I have no issue with redundancy but if you had a leatherman a SAK and your good fix blade all those little trinket knives could save heaps of weight do you not carry water?
I took some ideas for my own EDC, but if you want some advice: I used to carry a lot of stuff in my Maxpedition Falcon, it used to be stuffed. Now I carry only the stuff I need on a regular basis or at least once a month. All the other stuff I think I need, like WD40, tools and stuff I keep in my car. If you try to put different lines of gear (for example on body, bag, car, home) you will use the stuff more often and it will literally take weight off your shoulders. Thanks for the video ;)
I would like to know how much your backpack weighs loaded like that. Not judging, just curious. I have been reviewing my own backpack. Realizing that I do carry a ton of things that I never use. Those things that I've never use are going into my car. Not all, but most. What's that weigh?
Mine has come with me every single day for 5 years. It’s been dropped, soaked, covered in ashes from a fire, left on a NYC subway and it’s still performs like new.
I love my rush 12, Ive had it forever and it has held up nicely. And ive put it through hell. Best investment over all the bags that Ive researched. You get the best for your buck on these. Its not too small or too large but a perfect size. Get one in your hands people!
You made a very helpful & pleasant instructional vid. Thank you. Please make more on prepping & EDC. I have been searching for a replacement backpack for a long time. This vid sold me on it. I have also recently become a proud Maxpedition owner. Pricey, but great quality. Zippers are big sellers. Go Ykk. Thanks again.
Great video - redundancy is an understatement. I will legit get my hands on one-for-one of your list, I will probably reduce the number of items due to weight, reduce the number of knives, reduce the amount of tape, etc. Great list, 100% on how well that bag handles weight, I am going to grab the newer rev of the Rush bag (I have two of that first generation one for the Jeep and one for the Boat).
Thanks for the comments man actually I have taken some of the items out to reduce some of the weight and redundancy since the video you know you never stop fixing your bag until it’s exactly the way you like it and then you find something else and replace it you know how it goes 😎
HAHA Legit as you were walking through yours, I opened mine up and just did a quick check, added butane to lighters, charged up flashlights and chargers. Keep up the great work man!!
That whip is awesome! I like this loadout too. Lots of function without it looking like you're headed to a deployment. I just got my first Rush12 2.0 this week as part of an extensive search for the perfect EDC. Beyond being a solid bag, the aesthetics are so darn good. It's just a great bag to look at. I cannot believe how much stuff you have in this bag. I looked away from a few minutes, came back, and realized you were still unloading it. Like Mary Poppins purse.
Hahaha Yes there is a lot of things in the bag there’s a lot of repetition and you know like anything else to keep replacing things in upgrading and trial and error but it was fun to put together it really was thanks for watching
I have a small fire kit in mine, lighter. Fire steel. Dryer lint. Matches. Waterproof matches. Vasolene soaked corton balls. Some saw dust. A few small sticks. Candle. Wetfire tinder cubes. I made it after i had to start a fire in the rain, realizing that i didnt have enough and everything was wet plus the wind i made that kit. Also i see you had a poncho i have a colman rain jacket in mine its a little more durable. Also maby add a stainless steel single wall water canteen you can boil in and some katadyne water purification tablets. Only go single wall the double wall can explode, youll thanks me later lol. Nice video, i look forward to seeing more.

Jeff Shannon great video. It would be cool if you add a list of all your items. Will definitely follow the same structure! Keep up the good work. Truly enjoyed the video!
I like your impeccable approach to preparedness, cannot fault you there. This is, however, in my opinion too much to carry around in my EDC. Too many bits and bobs that do the same job - it's a tad anxiety-inducing watching you unpack it all tbh. Having said that, I agree it's all personal choice and I am glad it works for you. I need tech necessities, medical, basic personal hygiene, multitool, knife, light and waterproof jacket. The rest of the gear is in my vehicle no more than a 2 min sprint from me at all times. Weight and minimalism is a big factor for me.
omg didn't realize this was EDC... Assumed it was a go bag (but with no cash, no water, no rations?) Then again, for "edc" maybe it just lives in his truck and is really like a tool-box with shoulder straps?
I saw the "Real Tree" shirt and tought it was another guy that doesnt know what he is talking about but I was wrong. Your kit is well made and the only thing I would add would be a Silky folding saw since I have very bad experiences with those wire saws.
Thank you for the wonderful Video. You presented with a great, positive attitude. I can tell you enjoy being prepared. And, I think you probably want your tools to be available for you, and others that you care about. Nice. May I suggest that you review your redundancy. Again, not judging, but I noticed you've got nine knives in your backpack. Most of them are not accessible quickly, and are small enough to be dangerous to use. When I was taking security training, the trainer said, "The best guy is the one with only one gun that's worn out, but he knows how to use it." I'm thinking that that philosophy might be of value here. Maybe one or two knives that will cover everything. Consider Victorinox to replace most of those screwdrivers along with your Leatherman. Maybe try taking Everything out of the backpack, and putting it all in one big plastic bag. Then, reach in there every time you need something. How many times do you pull out the same tool for multiple jobs? Is it just that one knife that is easy to find, and use? Having everything dumped in one big plastic bag would also give you an idea of just how much you really are carrying around. I wonder if there are some multi use tools that would gane you some room in the backpack. I'd love to know what your thoughts on this are. Thanks.
That was a awesome video. I have the same bag and it’s stuffed full of gear, almost everything you have , but the stinger whip . Maybe a little extra stuff. Why don’t you make anymore videos, your doing great . It takes time to get subscribers. I subscribed, hope you make some more ,, good job 👍
Pretty cool. I definitely don't have this much stuff, but I think this is more about what you think you may need. Half my bag is socks 😂 - I'm half joking. Great video for ideas on what to bring, that's for sure.
I'm really perplexed about the use case of this kind of bag, when there's no room to actually carry anything. Looks like you're equipped to go hiking, but without room for change clothing, water or food. My idea of EDC is a bag you literally take with you when you leave the house. For work, library or store. So very different use case that you have going on here 😅 My EDC needs are phone, wallet, keys, light, some bike tools and what not. But it still must function as a bag, so there must be room to take change clothing to work or some groceries from the store.
Bro you might have a gadget addiction! I follow the 5C's from Pathfinder School, might check into his system to address needs for EDC, might balance out your load, so what's all those gadgets weigh?
Hello I just order Rush 12 today. My laptop is: 356 x 251 x 16.9 mm (not included shock case but it will be a little bit bigger than the laptop, not too much. Will my Laptop fit the Main Compartment and also with a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gi, laptop charger and some personal stuff? This is my first time buy a Rush backpack. I only use it for dailyl work and training BJJ, not travel. Thank you guys!
please be gentle with zippers of the bag, no matter how much durable they are, the bag is like representing your home Good video and great gear for an edc, keep it up
I have this bag and have taken it literally around the world (39 countries) and have ABUSED THE CRAP out of it and it's as good as the day I bought it...don't kid glove this bag it's able to take anything you dish out
That’s too bad, everything is legal here in SD open carry, they just did away with the concealed permit so now you do t need it, we don’t have any gun problems here or gun related crime everyone knows everyone is armed. 🤓
This is NOT an EDC, it's more like camping content in your backpack. An EDC is more like something you would use at your office (9 hours a day) that could be used in case of an emergency or regularly. For your commute home (by car) items should be used in case the car breaks down or you need something to defend yourself in case you are in a dangerous area (GUn, magazines. baton, etc). If you commute by public transportation I would not carry a Kindle, tablet, or book since being distracted can be dangerous, and being alert or aware of your surroundings is a must.
