@@gabolina1911 hi! you open the skirt from the hem and insert the front skirt area on your machine. (basically your back part is now under your machine) you can see closely on her video on how the skirt is placed!
@@haoshan24 thank you for replying! I ended up sewing from the bottom of the skirt up. Which sort of worked.. I’m not sure if it was because I was using a very thick denim, but I couldn’t get the fabric under the machine :/ and I accidentally went through both sides at one point..no matter how I was positioning it just wasn’t working for me. This was my very first time sewing so I’m sure I’ll get it eventually.
That's exactly what I want to do. I bought some capri pants and they're too big cuz I wanted them so bad I order from big woman size and I can't wear them I need to make them into a skirt so hopefully this video works
I have a very helpful tip for your next deconstruction project! Look up how to remove a chainstitch seam.. you don’t have to unpick the entire inseam, it will unravel if you pull from the correct side! Saves so much time 😊
i love this tutorial, thank you so much!! but i just wanna recommend everyone to press/iron their pants once every step or just before doing everything so that it would be easier to work with (this was taught by my clothing construction professor and it really makes a big difference).
Thanks so much for this video! I really liked how you kept the little V split at the back. I did the same with my skirt and it came out great! Much appreciated 👏
@@clothesnbits hru?? Must have been nice to have a break... unless u were really busy 😔. Also, don't worry about being gone for too long, ur videos are always amazing!! I'll always be here (if school doesnt get in the way 😭). 🤍🤍🤍🤍

Really excellent tutorial. What a great use for the capris I never wear! I am just about finished making a maxi out of jeans I don’t wear. Deconstructing an extremely well-made jeans was not easy and I made some small rips but was able to hide them when I pinned. Don’t be afraid to try!
I tried making my old cargo pants into midi skirt by hand sewing (cause i cant afford it right now) , its not the best but i really like how it turn out that a made another one out of denim pants
hi I have a question, I was thinking of making this and actually started and opened the pants but I was thinking of that part of the pants where there is a triangle, you just mixed it with the skirt but I don't really like how it looks like, can I just cut that extra fabric to have a normal skirt view ?
Can you show the upcycling of the white pants u showed in your ig I saw that u cut some fabric and I want to do exactly like that one. They are so cuteeee ❤️
sewing by hand is also possible! it just takes longer, but it adds a nice handmade feel to it and can make a garment even more special! in the end it's all about stitching fabric together, so by hand should be possible as well :)
i know im super late to this but i ws makng this and i am really struggling on the back the thing to keep the fabric in place is too low and it keeps getting stuck any tips
thank you! if you don't have any fabric left to close the front gap, you can also leave it open! it's a personal preference ofc, but i think it would look nice as well :) and if you do want to close it, then i'd suggest to try finding a similar fabric somewhere else (maybe thriftshop/market or another old piece in your own wardrobe) to use it for the gap
Could you use a twill fabric seam binding ribbon which would enclose a cord secured at the bottom that you would pull at the top? You'd have to secure the top of the cord somehow, maybe with a cute button.
hi! a regular fit should also work! i'd then suggest to make a higher split at the back, so there will be enough room to walk. if it's a skinny fit i'm afraid it would fit a bit too tight due the seam allowance
Hi, I have a new pair of pants from my dad. He didn't want to use them. They are bigger than my size. How could I turn them into a skirt if I' m a petite woman?. Greetings from Lilian
hey, if the waistband of the pants is double sided, you could cut a hole on the inner layer and insert an elastic waistband to make the waist fitted. then if you follow the tutorial and make the width a bit smaller it could potentially work out i think :)
hii! if u got any questions, lmk down here 🤍
how did you place the skirt on the sewing machine so they it wouldnt sew through the front and the back

Hi did you use a straight stitch?
I was on depop and saw someone selling a skirt they made out of cargo capris and I really wanted to know how to make one. Perfect timing 👍

Just made this. Very very easy to follow. The only thing i did differently is use the rest to make pockets for my skirts. Happy sewing guys 😊

Beautiful explanation thank you soooooooo much ❤
I love it! I have a man's pair khaki similar pair but really to big for me I have been looking to create a similar idea from.
Thank you so much for this tutorial! For now I only ripped off the inseam... I've never done any sewing, I'm afraid to ruin it😅
Go for it! The worst that would happen is that you have to unstitch a mistake. And you’ve already done that. 😃
Great tutorial 😊
This tutorial was very clear and understandable
Great tutorial. Thanks
I AYE-DORE that skirt! I want to make several of those b/c as I get older I need skirts that are longer. Thank you for teaching me this.

Thank you....excellent tutorial.
they were so cute as pants too lol
They're all doing good
Thank you so much.🌺
I was wondering if i sew the full trouser from the front will it be hard to walk?
you can cut a high split at the back, then it will be walkable!
"oh, let's turn my old jeans into a skirt, how hard can that be?" I literally got lost at the first step.

Is it possible to sew it together again without a sewing machine? I currently don’t have one :((

What kind of steamer did you use?
Hii !!
This is really great idea but
I have a doubt what if u don't want to cut the excess how can I cover the front ?

@@clothesnbits thank you very much will definitely try it out
it looks so cool i wanna do this so bad but i don't know how to sew and i have no pants to upcycle
If we wanted to add ruching on the sides with a drawstring how can we go about that? I can’t envision how to create the channels

Hi do the pants have to have an oversized look to fit like this?
