@@StormyNichole Technically, yes it would be possible. But practically, there’s not a fully safe way to to that. The area where you inject the insulin before use is sterile/clean, but only until you use the pod. After that it’s been exposed to germs/dirt and inserting a needle to extract the insulin in the pod would contaminate the insulin with whatever the surface area of the injection site has come in contact with, making it not good for using.
So sad that she has to have all those needle 💉marks on her little body 😥😥😥, but she always has mom and dad by her side. I hope she will be ok and knows what to do when she goes to school.
Type one diabetics don't usually have a 504 plan unless they have other problems like ADHD. I've had type one diabetes since I was 11 years old and I never had a 504 plan...so yeah @@TheWoodland12

A similar thing happened to me when I was undergoing treatment for cancer. I had a pod that would attach to my arm, and 24 hours after they would place the pod on my arm, it would give me the medicine. One time, the plunger came out of me, and it leaked onto my arm.
Must’ve been the new neulasta shot? I always went up the next day and got the shot because I was afraid my dogs would pull the pod off accidentally. I was always so sick the day after the neulasta injection.
I have tears in my eyes whenever I see this because I’m going through it every day. I am using something smaller than this, but that needle poke attached to the sensor really hurts when it hits your skin specially when it moved or when it come off like that it’s very very painful. I could only imagine her pain. I wish I could just take it away from her, My tears are falling as I watched this.
For us we always do a shower at pump change time! Makes life a little easier. We use tslim. Usually if it looks loose, but site still in I try to get the adhesive nice and dry and put a patch on! Mine is 6 now almost 7. Diagnosed at 3. They are little troopers, it's nice when we can do a change while asleep.
I’ve been in dka 4 times and it is not fun at all and the 3rd one the doctors thought I was lying because I was in a different state when it happened until they got ahold of my records from my doctors and the last one was in 2021 I had ran out of insulin at night and couldn’t get any until morning and that morning my roommates randomly checked on me they said and I was having a seizure in my bed and prior to that they had never just randomly checked on me before they left for work and even they thought it was odd that something just told them to but I think I’m kinda dumb after 4 times when people don’t even live past 2 times of going into dka. I hate seeing small children deal with diabetes as well it makes me think it’s unfair for them

Because I do sweat badly when doing physical activity, I use a medical adhesive called Skin Tac, available on Amazon, I also use an over patch that goes on after I insert my Omnipod. I can no longer do garage doors due to an arm injury, but when I was working the over patch and the adhesive helped tremendously.

If you have to change her pod after just putting on that day or day after are you able to get the insulin out of the pod so you don't waste it I know insulin can get expensive

I have been curious if you have the omni pod amd the dexcom covered with one of the cute super sticky adhesive wrap on them can she take a regular bath getting both the omni pod and dexcom emerged in water like if you had them both on her belly obviously the water would be up high enough to cover her devices,or does she have to take showers.if she has either on her and only get to tale a bath when both her devodes are not on her like when you take the old ones off she could habe a bath then but hurrying so you can get her new devices back on her...and the other thing I wanted to ask is why does her exercising make her blood sugar go low/high??

Some people are born with you or you could just it could just come anytime in your body And I wasn’t born with it. I really feel for you, my daughter was diagnosed at her 2nd birthday. For some time afterwards she would flinch in the night when I’d check on her because she associated my touch with pain. My son was 4, it was easier to understand the needles. They both have a closed loop system with the Tslim pump and Dexcom nowadays. So much easier than injections, or blood sugars, but you can’t bathe until 24hrs after a change, or spend more than 30mins in the bath. We have overlay patches to use if they start getting loose. I usually do cannula change after a bath and put the pump on charge whilst they are in it. I’ve had 12 years to get into a routine, but I remember how difficult it was in the first 6months it was all consuming. She looks so happy asleep, bless her.
It really isn’t, big long needles would be being injected several times+ during the day & night with insulin. This, in comparison, is a teeny tiny needle, & a small poke that stays put for days before it needs changing, rather than several (much longer) needles through the day & night. Still unpleasant, but compared to the alternative a rather genius invention.

as someone who wears an omnipod, pro tip! i used to have this problem a lot, and i found that waiting for about 30 minutes to an hour after a pod change helps the adhesive bond better to the skin, helping it to stay on longer and through showers and swims.

It is so frustrating when the adhesive that usually has to be soaked in medical adhesive remover and still won’t come off easily, fails in the shower.

Skin Tac Wipes are perfect. I’ve been using them for many years with the Omni Pod. Give them a shot unless you already do.
Maybe try Tegaderm patches. Also your insurance may cover for lost medication over ride. If not then try the drug manufacturer they may replace it.
Cannot imagine how worried you get, you are diligent so don't worry as far as I can tell you absolutely think of everything.😊

The needle marks from the OmniPod system are extremely minimal and heal quickly when the OmniPod pump is replaced every 2 days.

The adhesive loosens up when water touches it. When you put it on wait 15 hours
you need to get the Skin Tac wipes. The adhesive on these wipes makes it impenetrable

It is but sadly you don’t know the amount of insulin absorbed and it’s supposed to be air tight or your blood sugar can go high
