top vids as always Matt. To save going through lots of test pieces to easily get the router bit in the right place from the fence so the hinge is centred just divide the router cutter diameter by half and then half your box wall thickness and then subtract it. Eg Cutter dia is 8mm so half is 4mm. Box wall thickness 12mm, half that 6mm, subtract 4mm from 6mm gives 2mm so you would have the router bit 2mm way from the fence.
Great instructional video! Knowing that you are very proficient with hand tools, I would like to know if you’d have been faster, and just as accurate, using hand tools instead of the router table?
You answered why one hinge on a recent keepsake box lurched rearward and threw out the lid alignment. I was carefully entering my awl marks and the countersink threw off the hinge alignment. That had me puzzled.
Thank you for the detailed instruction on the hinges.
Just like to say I really enjoy your videos. They are the most detailed of any woodworker on TH-cam. I will be joining your Patreon soon. Very good.
As teachers go, you sir, are of a premier league. I am making it a top priority to join your patreon group. Soldier on and know you are appreciated.

Great work as always Matt! Any thoughts on using barrel hinges for the box?
