Great video man. Love your stuff. Don’t listen to the guys telling you your videos are too complicated. There are plenty of beginner videos on YT and in my opinion not enough advance ones like you’re making. Keep at it! 👍
Awesome!! AND I am 70 years old with a 50 year history of playing professionally for a living - THIS is exactly what I enjoy about playing bass...I'v been told I "sound like Jaco" ...had some Kuru-isms happening but BUT this is the real deal! thanks
Subscribing to your channel is one of the best things that I have done recently as a bassist. Really glad to see your videos popping up in my feed now.
Haha! Thanks man. To be honest, i'm learning as the days go by. It's tough to keep the talking to a minimum. At least for me. Cheers and thanks for the support :)
This guy ROCKS the bass! Perfect tone. And he does it on Squier. Proves it's more the player than the instrument... plus the squier VM line is actually a very well made bass these days
At my ripe old age, I've only just learnt the pentatonic scale, so this video is beyond me at the moment - but I'm going to bookmark and come back to it every so often (... I love the way he says "right!!!!" :)
Honestly, i think it's easier if you're older because you'll learn the RIGHT stuff. At least that's what i think :D hahaha Thanks for the support. Cheers!
WOW! Thank you very much for helping us crack the "Jaco Code"-or at least some of it! You are an amazing bassist and incredible teacher! I have no idea why someone gave you a thumbs down-what's up with that? Great tone, too!
A great way of getting another tool, using the approach of sequences of intervals....you can just pop an interval on a certain scale and repeat it going up 3rds you get killer sounds. And you rock man, also showing the struggle of getting it, no finished up, mixed and mastered, produced piece shows the "ugg almost there" feeling when you practice, climbing up. That is really the Jaco major pentatonic sound deconstructed as a practice routine with the cromatic touches here and there. great stuff. Cheers and thank you for the inspiration, I'm going to add this to my routines!!
That tone is mainly done by plucking close to the bridge pickup and having a pickup balance favoring the bridge pick up. EQ should be mostly flat with maybe a slight bump in the 250-450hz range if it sounds a tad too thin in the low mid range. Also having a compressor pedal and a Jazz bass also helps bring that growly attack he has in his tone.
pentatonics became a lot more interesting for me when i began to start them on different degrees of the scale. for instance a G pent or a B pent over an Fmaj7.
HI Anthony, thanks for the upload. You have great skills and the tone from that Classic Vibe is lovely. One little request, could you slow down your theory breakdown a little please? my brain isn't as young as it used to be! Keep up the excellent work and thanks once again.
Chinese squier with stock pick ups man. I changed the bridge a few years back and that’s it. The markbass line out is great and gives me the sound I want 😊
Hi Anthony, Your videos are Great. I loved them. I have tried to wwrite down the fingerings for the Major and Minor pentatonics that you are playing but due to the speed of your execution I can not see the fingering. Do you have a particular fingering or shape for those scales? Thanks in advance.
Been playing the bass for 47 years, and love this! Top guy for sharing with everyone.
Great video man. Love your stuff.

It's all in the hands, Anthony. ;-)
I barely play bass, but watched this lesson and added it to my favorites. Guitar players like myself could learn a lot from this.
Always keeping it fresh
Amazing phrasing and a REALLY clean technique! Thanks for sharing!
Love your tone!
Love your explanations. Simply and without putting "too much water in your talking" like Scott did in most his videos.
Haha! Thanks man. To be honest, i'm learning as the days go by. It's tough to keep the talking to a minimum. At least for me. Cheers and thanks for the support :)

You have no idea how l needed this and have searched in vain from the popular guitarists. You are my best!!!

Super helpfull 💪💥
Great vid dude. I like your taste in what to learn from jaco's playing.
that tone man..how did you set it up?
I'm wondering the same thing. So fat and round. My tone sounds nothing like that!
