I am a Treager tech for a distributor and you had TOO MANY pellets build up in the firepot. Observe all proper shutdown procedures and vacuum out the firepot of ash and pellets after use. See how many pellets spilled over into the barrel? Too many.

I own a Traeger and have had flame outs and flare ups. But never have I seen any hint of an explosion. What i don't understand is whats inside that could release so much energy so fast? I definitely think the controller is lame and the smaller Traegers can not be left un-attended for long periods which is why I no longer use mine and purchased a better one.

I am writing this review in the hope that it will save someone time, and money. First of all DO NOT BUY A TRAEGER GRILL! If you already have, hopefully you bought it from Costco, so you can return it easily, and get your money back, without having to pay shipping costs, and the hassle associated with Traeger. The problem I have with my new Traeger Century purchased July 2018, is it will not get up to tempature. (I read this has been an ongoing problem with them for over three years, due to crappy parts made in China, but Traeger just keeps on selling them!!!). 401 degrees max, then back down to 389. I have only used it four (4) times, and Traeger wants me to open up control panel and run a bunch of test for them! I broke down and ran ALL of their tests, and after being on the phone with them ALL day, they told me it was a bad fan, and to open it up, and take out the fan for replacement. I am an old man, with arthritis in my hands, and do not see very well. I told them I just paid $899.00, and I was not going to be their technician, unless they wanted to pay ME $50 a hour! They will not send out a tech, and I will not do their job for them, so it is going back to Costco, and I will save some more and buy a reliable smoker, that is made in the U.S. Of A !!! If I would of known of all the problems they have, and continue to have, I would of NEVER BOUGHT A TRAEGER! How can they continue to sell this product, knowing they have an ongoing problem? And BBB...why do you give them an “A” rating? The Better Business Bureau has over 72 complaints on Traeger problems. This has been going on for years now! I hope I can save some of you folks some heartache. Remember: “time is money, and money is time”. Good day.
I wish I would have seen this before I paid the same $899 I’ve only used it 3 times and it has never held the correct temp, it jumps 30,40 degrees up & down non stop
I also purchased mine from Costco in July 2018. Mines gives problems on the smoke setting regardless of attempts to adjust/correct. It will flame-out but will still have ambers. The auger continues to load fuel, then the ambers may restart the pot on its own resulting in a super hot grill. This is why I say it cant be left un-attended.
I must’ve got a good one. I hear people talking about temp swings but I don’t think I could ask for any more accuracy. If you keep the lid closed it holds temp beautifully. I’ve had mine 3 years and use the crap out of it. Multiple overnight or all day cooks

No power outage. Took a piss and came back. Treager in flames. That fast. I recieved a new one but man that was crazy.

This is the worst traegar to buy. The computer is shit and u need to try contacting them to give u an updated brain for it. I found one in the trash and the thing does not maintain temp right and will snuff itself out no matter what you do to the p setting. Costa about $120 for a new brain so instead of that I spent $320 on sale for a char griller at HEB. Works like a dream. Havent tried smoke setting yet but I did smoke a pork loin for 8 hours at 180 at p2 and had bo problems.

The problem I have with my new Traeger Century purchased July 2018, is it will not get up to tempature. (I read this has been an ongoing problem with them for over three years, due to crappy parts made in China, but Traeger just keeps on selling them!!!). 401 degrees max, then back down to 389. I also purchased mine from Costco in July 2018. Mines gives problems on the smoke setting regardless of attempts to adjust/correct. It will flame-out but will still have ambers.
