      As someone who's in my 20's generally I was told the area appeals to seniors but I think its really a cool town in general for anyone who likes small towns. I was introduced to the place when I was 16 and sparked my interest. At one point I used to live down there a couple years ago and after leaving due to family reasons I realize how cool of a place Cochise County was and someday hope to go back. Great weather, cheap cost of living, wide open spaces, clean air, slow pace, mellow drivers, green monsoon seasons. The Chiricahuas are a hidden gem just a couple hours east of SV. Southeast AZ is super underrated in general.

    We retied to SV 12 years ago and think it is a great place. We live within a mile from everything (mall, Walmart, Lowes. Home Depot, Texas Roadhouse, Applebee's, Chili's, C-A-L Ranch, Tractor Supply, Fry's and Safeway grocery stores, post office, Veterans Park, aquatic center, skate park, farmers' market, all the fast food places). We enjoy all the city parks, doggie park and trails in town. We're less than two miles from our doctor's office and the new Canyon Vista Medical Center. Due to the army's Fort Huachuca the city is very racially diverse. Soldiers have brought spouses back from many places around the world resulting in a lot of ethnic restaurants (German, Korean, Vietnamese, Chinese and more). Nice video!

    My family is from Bisbee and Naco Mexico. I was born on Ft Huachuca. I currently live in Washington state but if I ever moved back to Arizona it would be to the sierra vista/Bisbee area. Much cooler compared to phoenix and Tucson, at least when I lived there, lol. And more green along the Huachuca mountains

    It's a well-made video, but my experiences with Sierra Vista are quite different, The hiking areas are not particularly attractive because it is SO dry. [Admittedly, the museum at Brown Canyon Ranch is interesting. ] We moved there after a few visits because we found a house we loved, and now I really wish we hadn't. Tombstone could be fun for a visit, but keep in mind that it's probably not much like the "real thing." When the County Seat moved from Tombstone to Bisbee, Tombstone had to come up with something to keep the city afloat financially, and have been overly imaginative in their re-creation of the old town. Maybe we've just seen too much in traveling to other places. You might want to add in the Ash Canyon Bird Sanctuary, and especially the Arizona Folklore Preserve, which is the only thing that makes living in the area better. We locals joke about how hard it is to find a good restaurant [except maybe for the expensive Italian restaurant] and that every time a new restaurant opens, we get our hopes up and dash there, and are again disappointed. Sierra Vista is very cold in the winter, and cooler than other parts of Arizona in the summer, but still warmer than many of us like. The best thing to say about it as a tourist site is "only an hour to Tucson" [or Patagonia, or Tubac, or Mission San Antonio de Tumacacori.] Best places to eat in the area are The Velvet Elvis in Patagonia or "Siete" just a block or two the other side of the border in Naco. There is a chain steakhouse in Sierra Vista that is pretty good, but when we went there on a weekday at lunch it was too loud for conversation, and it must be worse at night. It's an okay place if you can get there when it's not overly hot and not cold and raining, and if you don't have to go far to get there, but I wouldn't put it high on the list of places to visit, ad definitely do not recommend living there.

I had no problem with the area but my wife really was not a big fan of the area. Did ride my bike once from Fort Huachuca over to Tombstone which was during the summer (I do not recommend doing that). In total spent just a little less than four years in this area.

    I was surprised to Our Lady of the Sierras on the list. It burned down in the early 2010s during the Huachuca fires. I'm glad to see they're rebuilt and up and running. As a former resident of SV this makes me miss it. Especially the scene where you biked through my old neighborhood. But don't just stop at SV and Tombstone, visit Bisbee, an old hippie mining town. And if you have an hour, visit Douglas, or Nogales AZ/Mexico. Go hiking, fishing and camping at one of our many locations, my personal favorites were Ramsey Canyon and the San Pedro. The stars were always beautiful, and take full advantage of the lightning shows during Monsoon season, it's like Thor orchestrating an opera of nature for you.
    That is all.
    I'm currently looking at houses to move back. Thankss

    I've lived all over Arizona , including S.V., and can say that the stereotypical view of that state as all desert is totally wrong.. AZ is very, very diverse with massive forests and mountains in the north and everything in between down to S.V.

      @@gweger6425 Its simple. This is a outdoors/retirement town, also decent for raising a family. If you are young and trying to have fun this is the last place you want to be stationed. Now that they have to deal with covid restrictions its 10 times worse.

    • @RUHDD4HVN
      @RUHDD4HVN 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      JJ.......It's about 10 degrees cooler even in the summer so you may want to get away from the heavier heat of the mid to northern parts of AZ. The elevation is closer to 4,000 plus ft so there's that too........ and if you visit the mountains above Ft Huachucha that line the border it will be even cooler there.
