    When I got Frontier Fiber I had them lay a long cable so I could dig and put it into the ground myself because it was going to take the dick people like a week before they could come out to my house and I figured I could have it done in like 3 hours it took me like 12 hours to do the whole thing but I'm pretty sure it's definitely in the ground because technically it's 3 ft which is only needed to be a foot but then again we have alot of trees around that cable so this makes it so roots and what not don't get into it. Plus I went out and got PC piping and we ran the cable through all of that so it goes animals that go under the ground that like to dig won't be able to chase him on cable or anything so with it being fiber and it being brand new most likely it's not going to be needed to be replaced for many many years. It's basically better than Frontier doing it but they still laid the cable down I just suggested the idea they had to reach out to their supervisor to make sure that got approved and the only thing I was told is they would run it the way I wanted it to and I could put it in the ground or whatnot as long as I didn't break the cable if I did and they had to come back out the replace it the cost would be on me so everything was pretty planned out like a week before this. It's amazing it's two gigs down two gigs up. 150 bucks a month before tax no modem fees or anything like that. Really wish Frontier technicians were the smart here in Southern Michigan half the time they come out to your house to look at your internet or hook new service up like they don't talk to you they're not very friendly. It's great to see some technicians actually treat their customers with respect and if they have any interest actually teach them a thing or two of what things are and how stuff works it's actually kind of cool. I mean heck a lot of these technicians here in Michigan are hooking up basic DSL internet and are getting pretty much $30 or better to drive around it's insane how much a technician can make and there might be some schooling or something that I have no idea nor do I understand the internet but to be able to basically sit in a van and drive around all day and get to talk to customers sounds amazing but the ones here you know go talk to you and things like that but again they're not too tech savvy anything outside of DSL because that's basically what they provide here in Michigan and when fiber does come I talk to many text years ago that said that they're going to have to get trained on fiber because they've never had it work for a company for 20 30 years but don't have any experience around fiber and that's what most isps are running off of nowadays so hopefully we get fiber one of these days they said around maybe 2025 for Frontier but there was a rumor a few years back over a few technicians actually talking about that they were trying to get service rolling because it's going to take them years they get through their coverage area especially replacing their DSL Network over the fiber which is probably going to be a pain in the neck but we'll have to wait and see

      You don't need a modem with fiber optics because you are no longer using the coaxial cable outlet from the wall. They are changing your old telephone outlets to LAN. All you will need now is a router. Cable modem is old technology. They ensure it's working fine before leaving.

    Which Frontier communications would get here in Michigan. I talked to a text here in Muskegon Michigan apparently they started over the summer or something but they only did parts of the city with fiber but then eventually they're supposed to expand outwards from that area Muskegon Michigan's where all their DSL service originates from it's like their main Central hub or something like that I believe but we live out in the country an hour or so late maybe two but the text send that they're not for sure when they get down to my area if they run it out into the actual country and back roads which seems to be an ongoing issue right now but of course Frontier nor the text no any additional information on where the service will actually be expanded too but I'm hoping it comes down towards Pittsford Michigan osseo Michigan North Adams Michigan that general area is basically all country and small towns every few miles they're very small country areas lots of corn fields in the areas but again they're DSL service is slow like it's 6 Mbps download and 512 KB upload and it can fluctuate a little bit but for most part it's pretty consistent most of the network congestion has been fixed but the ping times are still too high for gaming I mean you can have a local 25 milliseconds on speed test but it doesn't matter if you're on Steam for PC or Xbox live on the next gen Xboxes when you have a ping of over a hundred milliseconds it's very rough but according the front Taylor is just nothing that they can do till they get fiber and the company won't release any additional information on that so that kind of sucks but I think they're in a testing phase which is why that little town that they're starting in there in Muskegon Michigan I think they're just like a testing phase before they expand which will probably happen more next year but I know down here Pittsford Michigan Hillsdale Michigan osseo Michigan those little towns through that area here in Michigan Comcast is laying down fiber everywhere so I'm going to assume Frontier should really hurry up I mean if Comcast can do it in Frontier really needs to end the fiber to those same areas but again same issue with Comcast they're only running it down the main roads they're not serving any of their customers out on the back roads which is definitely an issue at this point and I think the government really needs to step in because you got a lot of people that live on these side roads and stuff out in the country and we deserve to have internet too especially a frontier plans on replacing their DSL service in general I mean come on it's 2022 is zippy fiber was available in Michigan oh man I would sign up for that stuff in a heartbeat but I think they only own like three states or something like that so that's kind of a downside there is smaller ISP provider but man does their stuff work unlike frontiers

    I never ever had downtime in my 3 years of service, Z ply's customer service is worlds better than Frontier. I run a multi media server and it is truly 1000mbps upload, that's 125 MB/s. No cap either. IIRC their network is running at 40% capacity, where as com cast is at 90%, which is why their speed decreases during peak hours. Old tech can't handle it. I would definitely recommend using your own router, don't use theirs. IDK if it is bad per say, but I have had experiences where the ISP router cannot handle many wireless clients or cannot reach the speeds.

Running out to find an alternative charging source is unlikely. However, Ziply has changed that for good. Now I CAN"T have an independent phone. Good vid Jay. It looks like your house was already pre-wired with CAT5E cables? Does your house have a network/cable enclosure inside (i.e walk-in closet)? Did ZiplyFiber Installer Tech do something in there? Do you have a gigabit network switch already? Or did all of the CAT5E cables that was pre wired to your house go all outside? Kinda odd if the home builder did that to your home. And another question I noticed the Netgear Nighthawk Wi-Fi router next to your Arris Wi-Fi router, is that being used as well for your home? Thanks in advance for answering my questions. I am curious about the fiber service and I noticed on your comment responses to other folks on here say that you are very happy with your connection speed.

    • @Jay_Rule
      @Jay_Rule  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think my house was (2006) so he added some type of converter but I could be wrong. The outside communication box is already wired with fiber optics. That was my old router I was using. Ziply Fiber provided me with the Arris router.

    • @Pfyzer
      @Pfyzer 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your home has a smart panel where all network wiring is, chances are theres already a vacant ethernet cable where your comcast box is, the techinican will immediatly know where to look and hook it up, since it's their profession.
      I had the same question until a friend of mine works for Ziply explained everything to me a month ago... he was great. I still have his contact if you want to get in touch with him.

    Ziply is doing FTR (Fiber To Residence) installs in ALL of their service areas but it doesn't mean it's available yet. YET. Just be patient and it will come.
