Catherine should've followed wrestling icon Sting better before making that line about Tim Burton perhaps never seeing Schitt's Creek. It was 23 years before Crows Have Eyes was mentioned in Schitt's Creeks that the Stinger developed a gimmick which mixed The Crow with Beetlejuice. He would even pay clear homage to Beetlejuice's "it's showtime" line by claiming "it's showtime folks!"
This is one of the most comprehensive interviews with only a couple of the outstanding cast members without giving too much away. Have to see this movie!!🎥 Great nuggets of wisdom from both Catherine and Jenna!!
Such a shame Catherine clearly does know too much about the Stinger and his gimmick which started in 1996. That Crow gimmick which even saw him later pay homage to Beetlejuice's "it's showtime" line started 23 long years before Crows Have Eyes was featured on Schitt's Creek.
I just adore Catherine O’Hara so much! From obviously Beetlejuice, but also the Home Alone films, Home Fries, Surviving Christmas, Penelope, Killers, and of course Schitts Creek…. among other good things she’s in as well but those are just from off the top of my head. My goodness tho, she is just such a great actress! So glad she is back with Beetlejuice Beetlejuice! Cannot wait to see the film!
She's good. However, she should've known more about the Stinger before publicly noting that she didn't know if Tim Burton ever saw Schitt's Creek. Sting the wrestler's Crow gimmick where he also referenced Beetlejuice's "it's showtime" began it's genesis in 1996, 23 long years before Crows Have Eyes was featured on Schitt's Creek. He would even say "it's showtime folks" by 1999. WCW at the time was even co-owned by Beetlejuice company Warner Bros.
at 7:48 jenna says “im a huge liar” and then the interviewer says “because you’re an actor!” is so funny to me because when i was in college taking acting classes for my performance degree, the thing i used to tell people was that im an expert bullsh*tter. then one day my professor overheard that and told me “if you are good at lying and bullsh*tting, then you aren’t good at acting. he then told the entire class that acting isn’t about lying or playing pretend or trickery… it’s about telling a story as truthfully as you can. and that always stuck with me. being a good actor isn’t about lying, it’s about telling the honest truth… that’s what makes the greatest of actors the best. anyway, that’s all, thanks for listening! bye!
When Catherine was talking about saying lines... I just think about her character in "Waiting for Guffman" when she had the idea to say her lines with her eyes closed hahahahaa
@@shougokawada8491 how about we just don't compare women with each other. they are all great in their own right. i will say, winona and christina have been acting for about double the time and just doing any craft for a longer time period usually makes you all that more talented.
Jenna has to totally go back through Stranger Things. Season 1 was only the beginning of that masterpiece of a show. Also Winona is so good in that show. Can't wait to see her and the rest of the cast in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice
Cathrine makes me so cozy, I've always loved her, but in these recent interviews I just cant help but feel comfortable, safe, happy vibes. Just love love love her.
Does anyone else think Catherine was talking about Blake Lively? It’s the only movie that came out recently unless I’m missing something.but I thought it was interesting to point out how seasoned actors can spot when someone is basically trying too hard.
I don’t understand that story Jenna told about the girls asking her for a photo. Why would they ask for a photo with her if they didn’t think it was really her? 14:00
@@Loaf11Two yes or they simply thought she looked like her and wanted to post it to social media which is unfortunately very common and an issue for people such as the girl who looks like Chappell Roan on tiktok said she gets people stalking her etc.
If you speed it up to 1.25, Jenna talks exactly at the rate she did in "stuck in the middle." Not sure if she was directed to talk that fast then, or has just slowed down with maturity.
An offtopic but told the way they both did, this feels like going to war. "You just show up there, you got only one chance to show your best and somebody shouts out ACTION". That will make you scared shitless and you indeed will have your only chance to "act". Well played.
Not just's Schitt's Creek, but also wrestling legend Sting who deserves credit for the Beetlejuice Beetejuice's crow reference. When WCW was co-owned by Beetlejuice company Warner Bros., he developed a gimmick which mixed The Crow with Beetlejuice, even claiming "it's showtime folks" in clear reference to Beetlejuice's "it's showtime" line.
Beetlejuice is one of those movies, you hear mentioned, in other shows. Clearly most movies aren't. I hope this new one , is written well enough. These actors are all very good. So I'm not worried about them.
Watching Delia again after all these years, I feel like Catherine O’Hara had to have pulled a bit from Delia to play Moira in Schitt’s Creek. They seem a bit similar. Just spoken a bit differently.
Wow I can't believe that Jenna said that she looked and felt stupid doing the Wednesday dance when that one of the badest coolest hippest dance I've ever seen Jenna do Jenna you were great in the Wednesday dance scene
Something i really admire about Jenna, is the fact she's not been swept away with the 'woke' agenda of Hollywood (and long may that continue to be the case). She's level headed. When she said it's important to have female leads in film, we can all get behind that. There always was strong female leads in Hollywood, going way back. The issue over the last 10 years, or so, is that writers have now forgotten how to write strong female characters, and so we've ended up with this dumbed down 'Woman - Good. Man - Bad' thing being hurled at us from every angle. We've never once been given a reason within the plot of a film, as to why this Woman is good, and why every Man is bad. We're just told. When she then went on to say, that we can't just have a female version of an existing male character, she is 100% correct. We've had films such as the 'Oceans' franchise turn all female, 'Ghostbusters' turn out an all female cast. It simply doesn't work, and indeed goes against the narrative they're trying desperately to put across. Create original characters for Women. Write the characters well, akin to Ripley in 'Alien', or Sarah Connor in 'Terminator'. We didn't have to have it shoved down our throat that these were strong female characters, their arc within the films allowed us to see that organically. Both started off as mild mannered, meek, but through events of the films, both characters found an inner strength neither knew they had, and they carried us along with them. It was believable. Neither Woman had to demean a Man in order for us to cheer them on. That was film making, that was how to write, and present a character. Jenna, i hope, will manage to steer clear of being tripped into following this toxic agenda surrounding Hollywood. She's a very clever Woman, so i doubt she will get dragged along.
I love how articulate and professional Jenna is and the way Catherine watches her almost in awe.
