    If anyone is watching this because theyre debating which of these to buy, go with the Vega's. I have two CVE12's and they sound so much better than the mackies Ive used (SRM450v2 and v3 and the Thump 12's). Deep punchy bass, and crisp clear mids/highs. Cant wait for my CVE18 subs to come in next week.

    I actually had a chance to do a test of these speakers side by side at long&McQuades.
    We had both speakers at the 12 o'clock position, and the cerwin just sounded louder with more clarity and the club mode is a great setting for a mobile dj whose does a lot of club music.
    Don't get me wrong the mackies weren't bad, I just found them a little less.. Punchy?

    I have the CVE-10s and the CVE-12s. They both sound killer. More bass obviously in the 12” but either are good for sound reinforcement, as monitors or even as speakers for your sound system. The Thump I found, had less thump. They maybe should call it the “Tryin’ to Thump”.

    I'm currently testing/reviewing some CVE10s and they do have a little boost in the 2-4k area - which is likely what we're hearing in the video. Very tough to get an actual comparison between 2 such processed cabs, since the CV(for example) has 5 pre-eq'd modes - and well, the mic used doesn't seem to revel much detail... In my short testing so far, compared to my Yamaha DXRs and RCFs, the CVs simply don't have the same sound quality BUT they do get very loud, and the processing seems very effective. A little cut to the 2-4k frequencies makes them sound more ear pleasing as they have some mid harshness with many songs in my testing so far...

    I've demoed these speakers too, Cerwin Vega CVE has more bass definition compared to the Mackie Thump, I played the trackEastbound 101 by Fourplay.

      I agree, I have the Cerwin Vega cvxl-112 and my KORG krome keyboard workstation sounds really great through the speaker, being the cerwin vega cvxl-112 speaker has rich bass.

      Four good clean, clear sound and a louder bass, go Cerwin-Vega! Mackie Thump 12A are great speakers and I have them, but I only use them for small house parties or very small venues. I use my Cerwin-Vegas for Grand Ballrooms and large halls.

    Im a mackie fan. But vega sound whit more clarity.
    What is the price on both of them?????

    • @grafxnrg
      @grafxnrg 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Mackie Thump 12A is a beginner loudspeaker and is priced at $299.99 while the Cerwin-Vega! CVE-12 professional loudspeaker is priced at $399.99, a one hundred dollar difference for better sound. I have a pair of Mackie Thump 12A and the only reason I went with them was the weight - Mackie Thumps weight is only 35.5 pounds while the Cerwin-Vega! CVE weights a heavy 43 pounds - plus the price. :)

    I like the sound of the Mackie’s, they have a deeper low end which for the music I play works very well. Is their a unit that can be placed on out channels of your mixer that can convert your sound to Bluetooth?

    • @discjockeynews
      @discjockeynews  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes.. the problem with some of those is latency.. you get a weird delay with some blue tooth transmitters...

    • @ziajunaidi2023
      @ziajunaidi2023 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I own mackie thump 12. Do use a subwoofer. Because they produce more bass they clip when you crank the volume. Cut the lows a bit and watch the clip light when you are playing at high volume.

      Mackie Thumps sound really good, I use them all the time, but they were made for small venues and house or backyard parties. The Cerwin Vega sound much louder and were made for the working DJ, big sound in a small package for bigger venues.

      Cerwin Vegas definitely have a better bass. EVs sound great though. The EKX will beat the CVEs all around...but otherwise I would say Cerwin Vega

    • @matthewvaladez8209
      @matthewvaladez8209 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tyler Guy yea true but that’s also the higher class and the CVE is the entry series. It would be better to compare that with the Cerwin Vega CVX series or PLX I believe. Great speakers just comes down to preference.

      And have you giged with the Cerwin

    • @matthewbohn765
      @matthewbohn765 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ive got 3 gigs in 2 days next month (I just got back into DJing after 10 years off) so Ill be able to better gauge the CVEs after that. I started off when a cheap set of Berhingers, and then moved to Mackie SRM450's. I liked the SRM's a lot, but the CVE's def pump out a lot more bass. The built in DSP is a huge plus too.

    Do not buy the Cerwin Vega, these speakers are honestly cheap garbage. I thought I'd save a few hundred from the Bose S1 Pros, and was the worst move I made. I bought 2 of the 10" Cerwin Vega's and gave them 3 tries on exchanges, which now I give up. First speaker I had to exchange because they had a faulty power cord connection. No matter how hard you pushed the power cord in, the littlest movement of the speaker or vibration would cause it to cut out. I tried it with the other cord from the other speaker and same result (so it was not the power cord). Second exchange resulted in a scratched up cabinet right out of the box with bluetooth connection issues. I would hear almost like a morse code sound when connected. So again I repeated the process of troubleshooting with the speaker that was giving no issues, and that speaker was fine when connected to bluetooth - no morse code. To note the speakers are 6 feet away from my laptop with nothing possibly interfering with the signal. So I brought that one speaker back again and ended up with one where I have scratches on top of the cabinet (2nd speaker out of the box to be scratched up). My thoughts on these cabinets are just pure sh*t if they can get marked up that easy. Side note* If no music is playing out of them they sound like the ocean. Compared to the Bose S1 Pro, where you'd have to go right up to the speaker to hear that same hissing sound, these pieces of garbage I could hear them hissing in the other bedroom (all volume turned down but you'd think I had the volume up at max). Anyone looking at these as a possible purchase because of the bluetooth feature, honestly save your money and look elsewhere. There's a reason why you don't see or hear about Cerwin Vega anymore as you would have in the 80's and 90's they're crappy cheap made speakers trying to keep a float in today's speaker market.

    • @captainca1445
      @captainca1445 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Paul Rumble a scratch and a power cord wiggle is not a big issue. I’ve seen these series in action at different events. Nothing but love for them, put rcf and mackies to shame in the same venue.
