I'm about 20 minutes in, and I so dearly hope the new catacomb will prove to be Kennedy's. To my delight, ACD's short stories are far darker than the Sherlock Holmes series.
Your narration gives life to these texts, as I have seldom heard any other do!

The very best Narrative I have ever had the honor of listening to. So Beautiful. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle would be proud . Thank you so much for your reading. The best of the best.

Greg Wagland is possibly the best reader I've heard in many many audiobooks online.

This site is a treasure trove of (for me) little known stories by Conan Doyle. Many thanks.

I first read this story, in Chinese translation, when I was in primary school. I still remember the horror it inspired in me. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is no doubt a master of storytelling.

Dear Greg, I reeeeeeally like this. I have listened to it several times and there is something extra sinister/suspenseful about your deepened voice in this reading. Worth a listen folks!

Perhaps i never told you, even when i hear stories on other chanels, i come back to you, and from the first minute i hear your voice i sink into calmness, pleasure, deep relaxing state. There are only 2 people on whole youtube with such a voice. You could talk all nonsence in the world and would still sounds good with your voice. You would sound fantastic as preaching, fantastic! Or as a tv reporter, lol or whatever! But best here for us!

Enjoyed the story very much. Reader has a very soothing voice; easy to listen to especially late at night. Had a feeling the story was going to end that way! 😱

This story reminds me of Poe's, The Cask of Amontillado. Although it has been decades since I read it. A tale of revenge masked in the guise of friendship and sharing.
I find comfort falling to sleep with Mr. Wagland"s voice. Let's just not let my husband know I'm taking him to bed every night!

This is definitely not my favourite Story that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle has ever written. However I think its says a lot about the culture of the time, and emphasises how much we have changed since.

Sherlock would have immediately sensed foul play and easily solved this one. He may have let Berger off the hook though.

Agree with both of your conclusions; Sherlock would certainly have sensed foul play…..and he would, most def, have let Berger off, as Kennedy had violated all the chivalrous codes that Holmes held dear…
