    So many men in their 60s had a Bullworker as a kid in the 70s. I was one of them and I loved my Bullworker. But as a dumb 30-something I let my mother get rid of it when she was cleaning up around the house. Now in my 60s I want one again!

    👍 I loved this! I saw your first Bullworker video and honestly wasn't impressed with the product but you mentioned how you can keep it with you to grab and use it when you got a few moments and that intrigued me. Did some more research and read reviews and decided to get one. Very impressed and love using it! Have since purchased more from the company. Simple, effective and uncomplicated. I like the "sense of freedom" their products offer when using them which has helped me stay consistent with using it as well as with the TG. So glad you reviewed it!

      Great to hear Andrew! I do respect how Chrisman and the Bullworker team don't overcomplicate or dogmatize the use of their products, but rather encourage experimentation / exploration of their products.

    For the isobow, just connect two pull down handles with a carabiner and save $29.

    the comments about isometric strength!! it's totally true about the strength u will have-i remember once in my twenties i wrestled with a 9 yr old female gymnast- after trying to over power her - i became increasingly aware about how helpless i was in trying to show my friends that i can handle this tiny girl-she was incredibly strong!!
    gymnastics builds strength in isometrics!!

    👍 great interview. Bought the Bullworker back in 1974, still have it. I also have the ISO-flow, ISO-bow, and the new version of the Bullworker. I’m a fan of isometrics as part of a fitness program. One problem with isometrics is that back in the 50s - 70s and beyond it was often believed that you weren’t really doing isometrics unless you were exerting 100% of your strength and doing the exercises seven days a week. This often led to burn out.

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, that is something I'm reading from various iso camps. Some say give 100% others it's the 70%. Thank you for watching!

    I bought a bullworker in 1974 after seeing my cousin had one. I was active in weight trading for the sports I was involved with. After combining weights with the bullworker my strength seemed to increase exponentially. My rugby coach noticed the difference in me right away. Unfortunately I lost my bullworker in a residential move. Don’t know why I never replaced it . Probably because I didn’t see them in stores much back in those days. I’m 62 now and seeing this makes me want to get a new one . Thanks for making this video 👍.

    really enjoyed this video, thanks to you both. I think I bought my first Bullworker mid 70s I used it regularly wearing 2 of them out, springs broke. My current Bullworker the X5 model I would have bought early 80s, I continued using Bullworker until I bought my 1st Totalgym (late 80s?) which I use regularly to this day, all up about 45 years of using both products. You've given me a new enthusiasm for my Bullworker, so I've dusted it of and will use it again in tandem with my TG fit.

    I discovered the bullworker back in 2006. I became a collector, and have amassed a large collection. I’m actually going to scale way back as I’m trying to downsize. My username is actually a combination of bw for bullworker and macho which is short for macho power. The macho power is a knockoff bullworker released in the 1970’s. I appreciate the interview as it was very good.

    • @hybridresistance

      I can definitely see how one could start collecting these! Love to hear how you see the quality differences between old vs new models.

      @@hybridresistance The absolute best built in my opinion we’re the original models made in Germany. They have forest green colored handles and thick dark colored pull cords. They have patent pending stamped on the handle as well as made in Germany. They are heavy built and robust to say the least. They also contain a stiff, strong spring. These models carry no strength meter though. Definitely worth picking up, and still highly functional.

      I got the Macho Power back in '78 but lost track of it due to moving around so much. Since you are a collector you may be interested to know that Chrisman revealed in a Joshua Holland YT interview that a new model would be coming later this year.

    Great interview. I have the bullworker classic, steel bow and iso-bow. Using them has toned and defined my frame, plus built some muscle.
    Everything is very well explained by Chrisman. Give it it try. 💪

    Mike great interview. Everything Chrisman said is spot on from my experience from using many of the Bullworker products. I love the ISO BOW. It is such a great stretching tool and to get a good work out even when you are on the go.

    I had a Bullworker as a young teenager back in the 70s. This was the first piece of strength training equipment I ever had. I went through the program on the poster that came with it every morning. I remember beating one of the hot shot football players in an arm wrestling match during science class. Everyone was so surprised and I was so proud. Every time I go to visit my parents house I look in the closet and hope I find it.

    I have a Bullworker and If you want to workout mostly at home without free weights I would recommend combining isometrics and resistance training together. The combination of the two can really give you a solid workout. Buy some quality resistance bars and bands and if you push yourself hard using those and something like the Bullworker you will see results.

  • @ELDogStar

    Interesting. Already done a pretty deep dive in lots of this equipment. But it's still nice to hear things even if just to confirm what I already knew.
    By now you know I'm mostly into isometrics and super slow for most weight lifting type protocols.
    I like to be super efficient. And work out at home, and sometimes on the road.
    Thanks again.

    Just like your previous review of the Bullworker this brings back so many memories..in 75 browsing the local Woolco sporting goods section I looked at the Bullworker but due to the price I went with the PowerTwister and the York Iron Horse shoe..When your 14 with limited income getting 2 gadgets cheaper than 1 is a really big deal😂

    Joined the gym about 4 months ago but am travelling for a month soon so have bought the iso-bow to take with me. Will be interesting to see if my gains hold or even increase with just using the bow for a month. Going to try to use it every other day if possible. Looking forward to seeing how it works out

    The T2 handles are not that great. The ISO FLO upgraded one set of the strap handles to flat ones to use with your feet when you are standing on them, way more comfortable that the grips. One great thing about Bullworker is they listen to customer feedback and make changes when they make sense. That is a rare thing today. They are a rock solid company. Could not recomnd their products more Mike.

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely, the ISO- FLOW is such a simplistic tool, it's kind of crazy what you can do with it.

    I’m a 16 year old male who just started using the total gym recently because I’m pretty skinny and I wanted to build my arms. I’ve been training for around 3 days a week and I’ve already started to see my veins slowly popping out. In terms of building muscle more quickly and efficiently, which one is more effective: increasing the weight or the amount of reps?

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Awesome to hear man. If I knew what I knew now I'd save myself a lot of time in the gym. But I did love going to the gym when I was younger. For your question, I'd focus more on doing whatever you have to (more reps, tempos adjustments, weight, incline setting) to drive that stress/tension in the desired muscle you're working. For me on this machine, more reps and or changing up tempo seems to do the trick more than the weights. But adding weights is certainly good as well. On another note, I gave my nephew (freshman in HS) my GR8FLEX and he told me he prefers it to his football workouts. I have him featured in this video in the second half th-cam.com/video/zHTJcRSBiUI/w-d-xo.html

    Comparing this interview to the Bullworker commercial which featured the previous CEO, his father, is an interesting contrast.
    The Bullworker Pro had a digital timer, but the newer Classic and Steel Bow, does not.
    I guess it was too gimmicky?

    I love isometrics. I got back into training several years back and I didn’t want to go to a gym and used a x5 for a year then a isokonator for a year then a steel bow for a year then the classic. I wanted a change so I bought the iso flow and isobow and used each exclusivity. But doing that with got to know each piece of equipment and how it works. This has really helped. Each one of these pieces of equipment has been a great investment and I’m 100 percent satisfied.

  • @outtrigger

    do you find that using the iso bow makes workouts take too long? i generally dont like training unilateral training because it takes more time to do each muscle individually

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree it definitely could, but like I was saying in the video I might use it possibly unconventionally compared to most people. I generally am using my bullworker off my actual workouts and more using it through sporadic mini sessions in a day. But also like Chrisman said, there’s no one right way to use the machine
