My wife was watching a thai show with me and kinda looked confused when an actor spoke English because when he speaks and sings Thai he has a smooth melty voice but switching to English, it went right up his nose and she was not expecting it at all lmao After a few minutes she conceded that he still sounded hot, but a lot different and it really surprised her haha
That is so good. It's even more true if you record yourself if you speak English but are learning Chinese. It's just heart wrenching to do this, especially if you have a native speaker for comparison 😥😥😥 At least in English, we can still understand every word even if you pronounce it incorrectly, but in Chinese a change in pronunciation might go from "I would like a large coffee" to "Your ugly and your mother dresses you funny". lol
Exactly, English is complex, but most native speakers don't speak correctly anyway so we can usually understand what non native speakers are saying since we are used to hearing ourselves jack up the language.
